Chapter 435 The Inside of the Stone Coffin

"Elbert, you nervous?"

"Just a bit of pressure."

Elbert squinted at the ominous stone coffin standing tall under the sunlight.

He spoke in a low voice, "I've got a lot on my plate. Protecting my family and friends, taking down powerful enemies from my past, and making sure this world stays safe."

"And helping Yulia Village find new life."

Robert said, "If something happens to you here, all of that goes down the drain."

"But."

Elbert's eyes sparkled, "The foundation of all this is, no fear!"

With that, Elbert started walking, eyes straight ahead, heading directly for the stone coffin!

Robert said, "I get it now, this must be another aspect of humanity, the legendary courage!"

Elbert leaped over the high wall in an instant, landing inside the courtyard. "You could say that!"

Seeing the stone coffin up close was even more shocking!

The surrounding area was filled with collapsed factories, broken walls, charred remains with yellowing weeds, and discarded gas masks and radiation suits everywhere!

It was a scene straight out of a nuclear apocalypse!

The silence was eerie, with no sound at all, adding to the sense of unease!

Suddenly, a strange bird call echoed from the sky!

A crow, three or four times larger than usual, flew in, its eyes blood-red and feathers patchy.

The crow landed halfway up the stone coffin, where there was a two-foot crack!

Flapping its wings, it quickly flew into the stone coffin!

Elbert watched intently.

The stone coffin, weathered by thirty years, had become damaged.

It could no longer completely block radiation.

Lumaria had noticed this and was raising funds worldwide to build a second stone coffin!

But money wasn't the biggest issue.

The problem was the radiation!

Even if the construction workers could withdraw safely, their survival rate wouldn't exceed 3%!

Radiation would cause organ failure and cancer!

Elbert gritted his teeth!

If he could absorb all the radiation from the stone coffin, it would solve a huge threat to the world!

He stopped thinking and pushed off with his feet!

Climbing up the stone coffin!

Reaching the crack, Elbert steadied himself and looked inside!

The interior was dimly lit!

Only a few cracks allowed some light to filter in!

Using his night vision, Elbert could see the details inside.

The original factory inside the stone coffin had been destroyed by an explosion, with the reactor fully exposed!

Everything was charred black!

There wasn't a single intact brick.

Even the steel within the area had melted from the intense heat, turning into molten iron and solidifying on the ground.

One could only imagine the terrifying scene during the explosion!

In the center, there was a huge mound of dirt.

Rescue workers had covered the reactor core with sand, lead blocks, and borax to create a first layer of protection.

But the effect was minimal!

And on top of the sand mound was a horrifying sight!

There were piles of white bones!

All animal skeletons!

From large bison and elk to small birds and mice, all were white bones!

In the center of the bones, there was a rotting arm stuck in the dirt!

The arm was as thick as an adult's thigh, covered in brown hair, with nearly two-foot-long black, sharp nails!

The hair emitted a foul stench, indicating it had been rotting for a long time!

"It seems there are indeed living creatures in this stone coffin!"

"But where is it?"

Elbert jumped to the ground, extremely cautious!

A flapping sound was heard, and the giant crow that had flown in earlier landed on the rotting arm, starting to peck at the decaying flesh!

Elbert squinted; although the crow had mutated, it wasn't much of a threat!

The next moment, a sudden change occurred!

The rotting arm suddenly moved!

In a flash, it gripped the crow tightly, crushing its bones instantly, killing it!

Then the sand mound shook, and another hairy, clawed hand emerged!

Finally, a head covered in long hair appeared!

It stuffed the crow it had just caught into its mouth, chewing it up!

Elbert's hair stood on end!

A black light flashed in his hand, and liquid metal formed into a long sword!

The creature, while chewing its food, also noticed Elbert!

Its red eyes lit up!

It dug its arms into the soil, gradually revealing its body!

Its limbs were as long as its body, covered in brown hair, with sharp claws, and its body was at least fifteen feet long!

It stood on the sand mound, growling lowly!

Elbert's body stiffened!

Robert exclaimed, "Oh my God, a mutated sloth! It's alive, using its stench to attract scavengers!"

Elbert was also shocked!

He never expected the surviving creature in the stone coffin to be a sloth!

But it had mutated significantly!

Its body was more than ten times the size of a normal sloth and had become a carnivore!

Robert said, "Elbert, there's nothing to fear. Sloths have extremely slow metabolisms, and their muscles have atrophied. Its size doesn't matter; it would take an hour to crawl to you!"

Elbert squinted at the mutated sloth.

Why did it seem like its fur was hiding explosive muscles?

"Robert, are you sure?"

"Of course!"

The next moment, the mutated sloth pushed off with its legs, shooting out like a cannonball!

Its upper claws spread out like deadly blades, gleaming coldly!

In an instant!

The mutated sloth was already in front of Elbert!

Its claws came down!

Elbert crossed the liquid metal sword in front of his chest!

Elbert's body was smashed into the concrete ground!

Elbert struggled to resist, locking eyes with the sloth. Its eyes were like copper bells, its mouth full of fangs, drooling!

"Robert, why do I feel like this thing is stronger than me?"

Robert said, "I will never trust Google search again!"
