Chapter 313 Veridiania's Scheme

Right now, in the testing hall, there were over a dozen staff members buzzing around.

When they heard the machine's prompt tone, they all rushed over in a hurry!

Everyone was wide-eyed, filling out their forms with disbelief!

After confirming Elbert had aced the strength test, their expressions shifted big time!

Even the usually smug staff from Victoria were now looking at Elbert seriously. 'This guy might be a future hero!'

But Elbert didn't see it coming when the testing team rolled out two more advanced tests.

One was a speed test.

A 330-foot sprint, and you had to finish it in under 50 seconds to pass!

That was just 7 seconds shy of the world record!

The other was an agility test!

You had to dodge rubber balls fired by a machine within a 30-foot range, and you needed to dodge more than 10 to pass!

And those rubber balls were flying at about 330 feet per second, which is a third of a handgun bullet's speed.

Elbert knew these tests were no joke!

This was way beyond what normal folks could do!

Turns out, BioGen Innovations was hunting for the top 0.001% of physical talents!

Elbert couldn't help but think BioGen Innovations was basically robbing Veridiania of its best talents.

Then, Elbert got back to it.

He nailed the speed test in 49.8 seconds, just making the cut!

In the agility test, he got hit by the 11th rubber ball, barely passing but still qualifying!

The testers were getting more and more pumped, like they had struck gold!

The staff was skeptical about the new testing standards too, since they figured hardly anyone would pass.

But now, they had to admit that someone had indeed passed, and it was the very first tester.

Violet Moon, keeping a calm face, was freaking out inside!

This guy named Elbert was a total mystery to her!

She couldn't be sure if he had actually created a sonic boom with his body because she didn't fully trust her own judgment!

She had only heard her instructor mention body sonic booms a few times!

And Elbert's barely passing each test made her even more unsure. 'Is he holding back, or is he giving it his all?' Violet Moon's mind was a mess.

But one thing was clear, this guy had to be recruited!

After all the tests were done, Violet Moon walked up to Elbert, her eyes shining, "Hey Elbert, I'm Violet Moon. You've passed the tests and will be on my team. I'll also be your instructor during training!"

Elbert nodded slightly, but he was curious about this cold and beautiful instructor from Veridiania.

He quickly searched his mind for info about her.

[Sofia Lawson, 26 years old, enlisted as a college student in 2002, joined the Veridiania military, then moved to the northern research team.]

But for the next 6 years, her records were blank.

And before she vanished, her last boss was named Alaric.

Elbert thought fast, 'Isn't that the guy General Jeffery mentioned, the head of 'Dragon Might'?'

And 'Dragon Might' was the secret cyborg research center Veridiania never talked about!

Elbert also dug up info on several Veridiania employees at the testing center and found many were from the military!

Elbert suddenly put two and two together, and a mysterious smile crept onto his face.

Veridiania seemed to have accepted BioGen Innovations' presence, but they weren't just sitting back and letting it happen.

They stepped in big time, sending people to keep an eye on BioGen Innovations!

BioGen Innovations couldn't dodge the supervision, and all their results had to be shared with Veridiania!

Elbert couldn't help but admire how crafty the country's leaders had become!

"Mr. Perry, your tests are all good to go. We're handling the other paperwork!" a Victoria staff member told Elbert. "First, you'll sign a contract with BioGen Innovations to become our special employee. This way, you get some sweet benefits! Plus, you can stay in the campus dorms for free. During training, we'll prep you for modifications based on your physical condition. You'll get access to some really rare meds!"

Elbert frowned a bit, "Sign a contract?"

The Victoria staff member looked a bit smug, "Yes."

"I refuse!" Elbert shook his head slightly. "Staying in the dorms is a no-go too!"

"What? You..." The Victoria staff member was clearly not expecting that, and his face turned a bit red with anger!

He said in a stern voice, "Mr. Perry, these aren't requests, they're mandatory! And you're here to become a hero. If you don't accept these, what are you planning to do?"

Suddenly, Violet Moon stepped in, stopping the Victoria staff member from saying more. She looked at Elbert calmly, "We'll sort out the procedures later. I'll handle any issues!"

Hearing this, the Victoria staff member looked frustrated.

Seeing this, Elbert smiled slightly!

Violet Moon was blatantly favoring him.

But then Violet Moon frowned and said to Elbert, "As for the medication, I suggest you take it. This is a rare chance!"

Elbert nodded slightly, "Of course, I won't follow the rules, but I'm not missing out on the perks!"

Violet Moon was a bit taken aback by that!

The Victoria staff member immediately shouted, "Hey, this is unacceptable! You must follow the procedures!"

"What procedures? We'll deal with it later!" Violet Moon's tone turned icy, and she led Elbert out of the testing hall!

The Victoria staff member, left behind, was practically losing it!

Elbert and Violet Moon passed through several layers of security and arrived at a lab.

Under Violet Moon's orders, the lab staff reluctantly opened a safe marked 'AP4'.

A lot of white mist rose from the safe, and rows of blue vials slowly appeared.

Just as the lab staff put on sterile gloves to take out a vial, Elbert, without hesitation, reached out and grabbed one, examining it closely!

The lab staff shouted nervously, "Be careful, these are very precious!"

Elbert shrugged and ignored them, carefully observing the vial in his hand.

The ingredients in this vial were truly complex and impossible to discern by sight and smell alone.

Robert Williams reminded, "Elbert, this vial is kinda strange. It's stored at a precise constant temperature, very close to the human body's temperature! I think this vial contains live bacteria, or microbes! The host is the human body!"

Elbert frowned slightly and casually opened the vial's stopper!

"Don't move, be careful!" The Victoria lab staff shouted and even tried to rush over!

"Alright, I won't move!" Elbert smiled slightly and casually closed the vial again.

But no one noticed that the moment Elbert opened the stopper, a black light shot out from his wrist, touched the blue vial, and then quickly separated!
