Chapter 269 Enhancing Success Rates
Gary asked, "Messing with cancer cells to make 'em immortal and tweaking DNA sequences?"
Elbert's plan had Gary's jaw on the floor.
"But dude, these methods come with a ton of side effects!" Gary frowned.
Elbert just grinned, all cocky, "Chill, Gary. I’ve already got a better way!"
Right when they were about to dive deeper, a huge figure busted through the tent.
It was Red Brow, the guy who'd been sparring with Autumn!
"Oops, Autumn knocked me outta there. My bad! Carry on!"
Red Brow flipped back up and dashed out again.
Elbert and Gary just shook their heads, chuckling, and got back to their convo.
Jeffery looked super awkward.
'Man, Autumn's no joke! The warriors must be losing their confidence by now, right?'
Three minutes later, another big dude rolled in!
Red Brow jumped up again. "Sorry! Messed up again!"
Jeffery looked even more embarrassed!
Elbert just shook his head. "Gary, we can totally use the warriors' own strength."
With a bang, not even 20 seconds later, Red Brow rolled in again!
His face was beet red, and he gave a stiff military salute. "Sorry. Charged too hard and lost control!"
Jeffery was about to lose it and kick him out.
"Forget it." Gary waved him off. "Let 'em do their thing."
Jeffery got the hint.
He relaxed, putting his foot down. "Get outta here. Next time, find another tent to crash into."
"Yes, sir!" Red Brow bolted out.
Watching him go, Jeffery had a mix of feelings.
After that, Red Brow didn't roll into the tent again.
But it was obvious that he was getting his butt kicked by Autumn.
Jeffery was sweating bullets, feeling all kinds of awkward.
Then he heard Red Brow shouting, "Autumn, you're gorgeous!"
Bang!
"I wanna be friends with you."
Bang!
Jeffery frowned, thinking, 'What the heck is this?'
"Autumn, I just wanna be friends! I'm gonna go through the modification! If I don't say this now, I might never get the chance!"
Bang!
"I wanna be friends with you!"
Just as Jeffery was about to get up, he plopped back down.
He rubbed his chin, feeling a bit down.
'The tech for human mods isn't perfect. No one can make a 100% success drug, not even Gary. Some of these warriors might not make it through the process.' Thinking this, Jeffery gave up on stopping them. 'They're all human, some just kids in their twenties, still green! Let 'em have their fun.'
Then, Jeffery turned his head, looking hopefully at the old and the young.
Time flew by, and three days zipped past.
The ApexGuardians warriors were totally on board.
They finally got what being a modified human meant.
Actually, modified humans weren't just a bit stronger!
Those they used to beat easily were just low-level scrubs!
The warriors' uniforms were still spotless, and they trained hard, waiting for the modification.
Inside the experimental tent, Gary squinted through the microscope, swapping slides like a madman.
The experimental cells kept getting stronger and multiplying.
Gary nodded vigorously.
Out of nearly a hundred samples, the success rate was 98%!
Elbert's plan nailed multiple fatal issues!
Then, Gary leaned back in his chair, grabbed some medical alcohol to sniff, and took a sip of water.
He grinned, feeling pretty damn pleased with himself.
"I've got a worthy successor! A 98% success rate? That's unheard of! In these basic conditions, this guy pulled off a miracle!"
Jeffery's body shook with excitement. "With this success rate, my warriors can all be saved!"
He glanced at the ApexGuardians patrolling outside.
In the squad, thanks to Autumn's distant gaze, Red Brow, the top warrior, was actually marching out of step.
Jeffery sighed softly, smiled helplessly, and his eyes welled up with tears.
Just then, Elbert strolled in, holding a box of big ants.
Gary raised an eyebrow. "Giant jaw ants? What are you up to with those?"
"Formic acid."
Elbert grinned mysteriously. "These ants might not be as nasty as African bullet ants, but their spit causes a pain level of at least 11!"
A spark lit up in Gary's eyes!
"You wanna use pain to kickstart the experimental subjects' cellular defense response, wiping out that 2% failure rate from the inside?"
Elbert smiled slightly, "Exactly."
Jeffery got even more pumped. "Are you saying the modification success rate is 100%?"
Elbert nodded in agreement. "To be precise, with the physique of ApexGuardians warriors, the success rate is 100%!"
Gary squinted and said, "To be even more precise, it's the first stage success rate that's 100%! For someone like Summer, who made it to the fourth stage, that's truly impressive!"
Elbert was a bit taken aback by Gary's words.
'Fourth stage? Gary is way ahead!'
General Jeffery excitedly paced back and forth. "I'll report this to the higher-ups right away. Once we get the green light, we'll start the modification ASAP!"
Elbert hesitated. "We can do sampling and research here, but for the actual modification, this place is too basic!"
Jeffery snapped, "You don't get it. If the warriors are sent to the experimental center for modification, they'll definitely get scooped up by Dragon Might, and end up under Alaric's command."
"Gary, Elbert, tell me what gear you need, and I'll get it for you right away!"
Jeffery waved his hand, showing off his full general aura!
Elbert had no choice but to make a list.
Watching Jeffery rush out of the tent, Elbert turned and asked, "Gary, what's the deal with Dragon Might?"
Gary smiled knowingly. "That's an international secret. Jeffery really trusts you! You think Veridiania hasn't been working on human modification? Of course we have! But all the tech data is locked up in the secret project Dragon Might! Because of the low success rate, Dragon Might's tech hasn't been spread to the military. Jeffery, being a big shot, wants to do his own research, which is why he brought me in."
Gary looked at Elbert with satisfaction. "But since Jeffery is part of Veridiania's military, he'll definitely report our successful research. You're about to become a big name in Dragon Might!"
Elbert shook his head.
He didn't care about fame.
Instead, he quickly had Robert Williams search for Dragon Might, but found nothing.
Elbert secretly admired Veridiania's top-notch secrecy!
Gary's eyes sparkled. "With human modification tech on the rise, every country is secretly building up power. In the future, modified humans will be competing. Until the research is fully understood, no country will show their hand!"
Gary sighed slightly. "As far as I know, every country has its own human modification research! As for Sterling, he's super wary of Veridiania. Who knows what he's plotting."
Gary looked up slightly. "So, whether Veridiania can hold its own internationally in the future depends on you young lads!"
