Chapter 65 He was agitated and pitiful

"Elbert, you've crossed a line," Rex said, his voice laced with anger. "How dare you insult people in front of everyone?"

Unfazed, Elbert calmly replied, "Your achievements mean nothing to me."

"Elbert, your arrogance knows no bounds," Aldrich and Ethan chimed in, their voices filled with anger. "As a mere driver with no notable accomplishments, you have no right to judge our achievements."

"I joined the Brown Family out of goodwill," Elbert explained. "I intended to keep a low profile. However, I find myself constantly provoked by certain individuals."

"Thankfully," Elbert sighed softly, "An elder once advised me that as a young person, it's acceptable to be bold and assertive. It's okay to let your passion shine."

Turning his gaze sharply towards Rex and the others, Elbert continued, "Rex, Ethan, you have a concert scheduled at Dawnlight Plaza in five days, correct? Let me be frank: your Paul concert will be the biggest disappointment of Wavehaven this year. Ethan, your agency will face ruin overnight, and Rex, your sales will plummet to zero."

Rex erupted in anger. "Elbert, you're cursing me. Who do you think you are?"

The tension at the table was palpable. Elbert's words had struck a nerve. Even if he didn't support Rex's plan, there was no need for such harsh words.

"This is not a curse but a prediction," Elbert clarified with a faint smile. "I have decided to support Lori's plan and assist in hosting a charity donation gala. It will take place just one kilometer away from Dawnlight Plaza, on Coastal Street, at the same time as your event. The audience will naturally flock to our concert, and we won't need to spend a dime on the budget."

Rex was momentarily taken aback before bursting into laughter. "Elbert, you underestimate me. Coastal Street? It pales in comparison to the luxurious Dawnlight Plaza. How do you expect to draw a crowd? Are you more popular than Paul? Are you planning to host the event without a stage? What is your strategy? Where do you find the courage?"

Lori, too, was bewildered by Elbert's audacity. She stared at him, unsure of how to respond.

'Has Elbert lost his mind?' thought she.

Aldrich joined in the laughter. "Elbert, are you so dazzled by Ethan's success that you're speaking nonsense? I suggest you come back to reality."

Turning to Aldrich, Elbert's tone grew serious. "You're next, Aldrich, you heartless businessman. Your travel company, with its 12 unique routes and 3 exclusive islands, may seem impressive, but it comes at a cost."

"Your ventures destroy farmland, damage natural landmarks, and exploit local residents. Your once-beautiful tropical islands are now littered with trash, and the indigenous people resent your aggressive development. Your so-called financing rounds have likely involved corrupt practices. Taking your company public is a mockery of the law."

Aldrich was taken aback. 'How does Elbert know these secrets? Could there be a mole in my company?'

Pointing a trembling finger at Elbert, Aldrich stammered, "You're lying, slandering me. I'll sue you for defamation."

"Whether it's defamation or not is irrelevant," Elbert brushed off the accusation. "Within 24 hours, your company will be bankrupt. If you enjoy comparing achievements, consider this: in just an hour, you'll be half a billion in debt. If I were to casually take out a hundred dollars, wouldn't I have more assets than you?"

Aldrich's emotions fluctuated wildly. Exposed secrets sent him spiraling, but the prospect of bankruptcy and debt brought a glimmer of hope. Was Elbert merely guessing, or had he hit the mark by chance?

"Elbert, I'm at a loss for words," Aldrich admitted.

"I almost pity you. I suggest you let go of your delusions and return to your rural roots. Continuing in high society may lead to a breakdown."

With a shake of his head, Aldrich addressed the room, "My company's liquidity exceeds one billion, with nearly 50,000 high-end clients. Our only issue is managing the overwhelming demand. Elbert's words should be taken with a grain of salt; he's had a challenging day. Rest assured, my company is financially secure."
