Chapter 265 Evolution Method

Gary plopped down into the beat-up chair with a heavy sigh.

He shot a look at Elbert and gave a slight nod. "Elbert, man, it's been a few days, and you've changed a lot! That cocky attitude you had is now more chill, making you look like a real badass!"

Seeing Gary get all serious, Elbert nodded back. "Gary, what’s the deal? Why are you here?"

Gary's brow furrowed, his eyes flickering. After a moment, he said, "I’m here for a drink, obviously."

Elbert facepalmed, exasperated.

"Oh, and I’m here to teach you something too!" Gary smirked, hands behind his back. "Those cyborgs outside, their skin looks like lizards."

Elbert's face got serious, listening closely.

Gary continued, "Humans have been around for millions of years, and it looks like we’re about to hit a new evolution phase."

Elbert raised an eyebrow. "You mean the cyborgs, Gary?"

Gary shook his head. "Nah, cyborgs are just one way humans are speeding up evolution. There are four ways I’ve found! First, cyborgs. Second, artificial life. Third, acquired genetic mutants. Fourth, innate genetic individuals! You know about cyborgs. Artificial life is still just an idea. Maybe one day we’ll crack the gene code and make perfect artificial life, but I doubt I’ll be around to see it."

Gary glanced at the lizard man at his feet. "As for acquired genetic mutants, they’re like these guys. And you, Elbert, if I’m right, you’re one of those rare innate genetic individuals, with hidden genetic mysteries and crazy powers inside you!"

Elbert nodded slightly.

Gary was definitely something else, with a unique take on things.

Even though he didn’t know about new humans, his guesses were pretty spot on.

"You think I’m just here for a drink? I called you because of these lizard men." Gary squatted down, looking at the lizard man with a crushed head, and rubbed his chin. "They were low-level cyborgs, hanging out in this abandoned village, getting exposed to radiation and mutating! This place was probably a war zone, maybe a nuclear waste dump! The radiation here is off the charts. Regular folks would die from mutations, which is why this place is deserted."

Gary stood up slowly. "But cyborgs are different. They’ve got strong genes and grew scales in a few years to resist the radiation! And the radiation made them way stronger! If I’m right, radioactive radiation might be the key to human evolution! Or more specifically, the key to the evolution of innate genetic individuals like you!"

After saying this, Gary turned to look at Elbert.

Just then, Robert Williams' voice chimed in. "Elbert, Gary’s right! He’s a top-notch human medical scientist! The second stage of new human evolution relies on radiation!"

Elbert scratched his head, looking confused. "But isn't radiation deadly?"

Robert Williams chimed in, "For regular folks, yeah! If high-energy radiation like gamma rays hits you, it messes up the hydrogen bonds in your DNA, causing gene chaos, cell mutations, loss of function, a drop in white blood cells, and tumors. But that’s just for ordinary people! The second stage of new human evolution is all about genetic changes. If we can control radiation to tweak genes just right, it becomes a powerful evolution booster! Ever heard of gamma-ray bursts? They’re massive radiation events from planetary explosions in space! It’s like a method used by higher-dimensional life forms. Gamma-ray bursts wipe out weak species, stopping them from evolving into advanced life forms. But for high-energy life forms, they’re like a turbo boost, speeding up evolution! It’s a universal law!"

Suddenly, a bunch of data flashed before Elbert’s eyes.

[In 1967, Victoria's Vela satellite, while detecting nuclear explosions, accidentally discovered gamma-ray bursts in the universe... In 1991, Victoria launched the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory (CGRO) to pinpoint gamma-ray bursts... In 1997, astronomers first discovered the optical counterpart of a gamma-ray burst on February 28, known as the "optical afterglow"...]

But all the juicy details were classified top secret by various countries.

Elbert was blown away by all these secrets!

Robert Williams continued, "We need to find the radiation source nearby and bring it back to the lab. I’ll create a small radiation space to help with your evolution. That’s my next move!"

After hearing all this, Elbert glanced back at Gary, who was grinning.

He was pretty surprised!

Gary’s knowledge and achievements in cyborgs were off the charts for a regular human!

So that was why Gary came to this village alone!

Gary squinted at Summer outside the door, noticing his metal arm shining in the sunlight.

Gary clicked his tongue. "Did you make that mechanical hand for Summer?"

Elbert nodded slowly. "Yeah."

"I knew it! Haha, you’re something else! Human evolution isn’t just physical! Your mind is sharp as hell!"

Then, Gary yawned, looking sleepy. "I’ve laid out the principles and found the place. The rest is on you!"

Elbert nodded again, then got up and headed outside.

In his vision, various measurement scales and magnified analyses of tiny landforms quickly popped up!

After a moment, a red circle locked onto an inconspicuous mound in the distance!

The land there was either barren or had some wild, unknown vegetation growing!

It was super weird!

Elbert looked closer and saw a rusty cannon barrel sticking out of the soil!
