Chapter 277 The Source of Radiation

Elbert knew his DNA had only changed by 10%, which meant his ability to control metal was pretty limited.

When he focused hard, he could just about manage to control a small puddle of metal.

However, Elbert was pumped. This was huge for him. It was just the start, and who knew what the future held?

Robert Williams was blown away. "All my predictions about the new humans were spot on! Elbert, you're incredible!"

"Quit messing around," Elbert said with a grin. He pointed, and the liquid metal zipped through the air!

In no time, it morphed in his left hand into a sleek, jet-black bracelet.

Elbert looked at the slightly shimmering bracelet and smiled to himself.

'A little bracelet like this, if used right, could be crazy powerful!' he thought.

Robert Williams chimed in, "Elbert, remember, it's metal—hard, sharp, and super flexible!"

"If you can make machines, weapons, or armor out of it, they'd be insanely strong," Robert added.

Elbert nodded. Yeah, he could totally see that.

He could control some liquid metal, making his moves totally unpredictable.

If he made weapons from this stuff, not only could he control them directly, but even if they broke, they could fix themselves and even change their power.

The early results of this experiment had Elbert's mind racing.

After a bit, Elbert tried to control other metals and found that when he really focused, he could only move a single metal wrench.

'His ability was still pretty limited. Controlling other metals was way harder than controlling liquid metal,' Elbert thought.

He named the liquid metal on his wrist None.

It was formless, shapeless, always changing!

In a world where solid metals ruled, this stuff was insanely powerful.

'Robert Williams, how can I boost my DNA modification to get better at controlling metal?' Elbert looked at the diamond-shaped radiation space and asked in his mind.

"Radium radiation is too one-dimensional and not enough. Plus, it's too intense. Next, we need to find more radioactive metals, preferably ones that have naturally decayed," Robert Williams said, and two pieces of info popped up in Elbert's view, the locations of the two biggest nuclear leak accidents in human history!

The first one.

[At 1:23 AM on April 26, 1986, a nuclear plant exploded!]

[Continuous explosions caused a fire and released a ton of high-energy radioactive material into the air!]

[The radiation from this disaster was over 400 times that of the Hiroshima atomic bomb!]

[The biggest nuclear leak accident in human history!]

[For 30 years, the core area of the explosion has been a no-go zone, with no survivors!]

The second one.

[In March 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake messed up the reactors of two nuclear power plants, with one reactor at the first plant leaking nuclear steam after the quake.]

[In the core area, radiation levels were 1050 times over the limit!]

[Another no-go zone!]

Then, images started to appear in Elbert's view.

Desolate, abandoned buildings, ruins and rubble, overgrown weeds—totally deserted! Thick white fog hung in the air, making the images alone terrifying!

The next images showed all sorts of creatures messed up by nuclear radiation.

There were people with rotting, festering bodies and deformed babies born to irradiated mothers. Two-headed turtles, two-headed birds, mutant rats the size of lambs, and so on.

Robert Williams said, "There's a saying, fortune favors the bold! If we want to get perfect radioactive material, we gotta explore these places! But, rumor has it, these spots not only have deadly radiation but also a bunch of unknown mutant creatures! No one really knows for sure."

Elbert, who had just felt a bit heavy-hearted, couldn't help but laugh at Robert Williams' words.

Robert Williams continued, "But we need to wait for your body to recover a bit and figure out how to fuse radium with Lizard Man genes. That way, you can resist radiation."

"For now, I suggest you take this time to head to Evalia and take control of the liquid metal mine. This stuff can't be recreated!" Robert Williams added.

Elbert nodded slightly.

The next moment, Robert Williams quickly set up Elbert's itinerary for 4 hours later through the internet!

Elbert's stomach growled loudly.

Robert Williams laughed, "Well, after the radiation exposure just now, you've hit the threshold of the second stage of new humans, and your body has gotten stronger!"

"Your metabolism is 670 times that of a regular person, your hair growth rate is 13 times faster, and in six months, your hair will reach your waist!"

"Your lung capacity is now 56 times that of an average person! If everyone on Earth were like you, the atmosphere would be gone in 10 days! And your strength has increased by 9300%!"

"If you wanted, you could probably lift 103 buses with your bare hands! But yeah, your energy consumption is through the roof!"

"I've thoughtfully ordered 120 takeout meals, and they're on their way!"

Elbert, feeling a bit weak, slowly sat down, "Robert Williams, thank goodness for you, or I'd be the first new human in history to starve to death!"

Elbert was startled when he heard a few dog barks from the back of the radiation space. It wasn't his puppy Coco who was barking, but real dogs!

The next moment, a dirty little stray dog timidly poked its head out from behind the equipment.

Elbert was a bit surprised. Even though the radiation space was made entirely of lead metal, there was still about 10% radiation leakage. This little dog must have been exposed to radiation for a long time.

The dog wasn't afraid of Elbert. It wagged its tail and ran to Elbert's feet.

Elbert squinted and saw that this dog was no different from an ordinary stray dog, except for a striking dark red mane on its back.

It was a poor stray dog.

"You can consider this place home from now on." Elbert gently petted the dog, feeling an inexplicable sense of closeness.

Then, a ton of takeout meals arrived.

Elbert ate like a maniac, and he kept handing food to the stray dog. But he found that the dog also had a surprisingly huge appetite. It ate voraciously along with Elbert!
