Chapter 28 The Loyalty of Iron Brothers
"Iron Four, there's no need for this," Lori said, puzzled by his unusual behavior.
Iron Four and his brothers were adopted by Alan when they were ten years old. They underwent rigorous combat and extreme training from a young age. By fifteen, they were sent to join the military. At twenty-five, Iron Four returned to serve as a bodyguard for the Brown family. For the past five years, he had lived at the estate, protecting the Brown family.
In the eyes of the Brown ladies, Iron Four was an absolute force of nature. He had once single-handedly fought off more than a dozen kidnappers without a scratch. On another occasion, he broke the neck of a black bear during a hunting trip.
His only failure happened three years ago. When Lori was attacked by thugs at a bar, Iron Four had not been there to protect her, a lapse that haunted him. Since then, he had been more cautious, preventing any bad guy near Lori.
After a thorough investigation, Iron Four confirmed that Elbert was indeed the man who had saved Lori.
However, he found something off about Elbert.
Elbert's actions were extraordinary to him.
'Taking Lori on a wild ride, driving 12 miles of mountain road back and forth in less than 40 minutes. What kind of physical condition allowed for that?' he thought.
So, Iron Four didn't trust him and believed he had ulterior motives for getting close to Lori.
"It's very necessary," Iron Four insisted, his cold gaze fixed on Elbert.
"He's just an ordinary person. There's no way he can beat you," Lori said worriedly.
To Lori, Elbert was muscular and handsome, but that was it. Against Iron Four, a professional bodyguard and combat machine, Elbert stood no chance. The memory of Iron Four breaking the bear's neck still gave her nightmares.
"Iron Four, let it go. Elbert won't hurt us," Mary and Susan chimed in, not wanting to see Elbert harmed.
"Ladies, you underestimate Elbert," Iron Four replied, setting aside his suit and slowly unbuttoning his shirt.
As he removed his shirt, the Brown sisters gasped. Iron Four stood nearly 6'6" and weighed at least 330 pounds. His body was a fortress of solid muscle, covered in scars and healed bullet wounds—a living testament to his battlefield experiences.
"What a war machine." Elbert remarked, tilting his head in interest.
"Iron Four, go easy on him. Just take it easy, and don't hurt him." Lori pleaded, knowing Iron Four's unyielding nature.
"Don't worry, Miss," Iron Four assured, stepping into the ring. His weight made the ring sink slightly, affecting even Elbert's footing.
"Elbert," Iron Four said. "I joined the military at 15 and served in the 43rd District of Northern Veridiania as a special forces soldier. I completed 136 border missions, captured 206 enemy soldiers, and killed 134. I've been awarded two third-class merits, one second-class merit, and one first-class merit. Five years ago, I declined the joint retention of seven generals to return to the Brown family with my brothers, repaying Mr. Brown's kindness."
Iron Four stood tall, his eyes piercing. "May I ask, Elbert, where do you really come from?"
Elbert couldn't help but admire Iron Four's impressive achievements. He was a man of honor, loyal and brave, a true king of combat. But it was clear Iron Four was skeptical of his identity, waiting for Elbert to reveal his background.
"I'm just an ordinate people, blessed by God with some strength," Elbert replied, bowing slightly.
"Since you're unwilling to tell the truth, let's save the talk and start the fight," Iron Four said, cracking his knuckles.
Seeing the situation escalating, Lori shouted. "Iron Four, Elbert is a guest of my father. You can't use force."
Iron Four remained silent, his determination unwavering. No matter who Elbert was, if he posed a threat to the Brown family, he had to be dealt with.
As they spoke, the gym door opened again. Iron Five, Iron Six, and the other Iron brothers filed in, lining up on both sides.
"Iron Six, what are you doing?" Lori exclaimed.
"Miss Lori, forgive us. Elbert is not an ordinary person. We've been observing him for a long time. He could be a threat," Iron Six replied firmly. "Today, if he can't give us a satisfactory explanation, we won't let him leave."
Elbert smiled wryly. 'It seemed today wouldn't end well. The Iron brothers are absolutely loyal and fearless. They are Impressive indeed.'
