Chapter 23 The Most Bizarre Contract in History
"Damn it!"
"You dare to curse at me?"
"Do you believe I'll chop off one of your legs?"
Curtis slammed the desk and shouted angrily.
Elbert remained unfazed, continuing smoking. "I suggest you check your email first."
[You have new mail.]
Curtis was taken aback. He saw a new email pop up on the computer in front of him, which then automatically opened and zoomed in on the content!
'June 2013, Elysium Care Center due to staff negligence...'
'September 2013, due to hospital negligence, resulting in...'
'January 2014...'
The document not only detailed the entire history of Elysium Care Center but also included various diagnostic reports, surveillance video screenshots, and even photos of deceased patients!
The scenes of tragedy were more real than reality itself!
Curtis's eyes widened in shock!
There were hundreds of medical accidents at Elysium Care Center, and even Curtis himself didn't remember them in such detail!
'What is going on here?'
'This is impossible!'
'How could someone know all this?'
Curtis's back was instantly drenched in sweat!
If this information were to be exposed, he knew he would end up in jail.
As the data scrolled automatically, not a single one of the 120 medical accidents was omitted!
After a long wait, the material finally reached the last page.
A signature appeared prominently—Elbert!
'Elbert?'
'Who is Elbert?'
Curtis's mind was in turmoil!
'No way!'
Curtis finally realized and tremblingly asked the young man in front of him. "Forgive my poor memory; may I ask your name again?"
Elbert gave a wicked smile. "I introduced myself earlier, I'm Elbert!"
Curtis could no longer stand; his legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground. "I'm sorry. I was wrong! Please spare my life!"
"You know you were wrong, so you are not stupid; you should know what I need!"
Elbert said, then got up and left!
In the parking lot.
A somewhat irritated Lori finally saw Elbert walking back.
"I told you it's useless, and you got rejected, didn't you?"
Lori glanced helplessly at Elbert and turned around. "Let's go back to the office!"
"What's the rush?"
Elbert leaned coolly against the car and said calmly, "That asshole will arrive soon!"
"Even Mr. James rejected you, and there's no need to insult him!"
Lori frowned tightly.
"Miss Brown! Please wait!"
In the distance, Curtis hurriedly ran over, taking three steps at a time!
"Miss Brown, we can discuss the contract right now!"
"What?"
Lori's eyes widened.
"Miss Brown, I apologize for my earlier attitude. We can discuss the contract now. There is no need to wait until dinner."
Curtis panted heavily, sweating profusely.
"Look there, an ant!"
Elbert squatted nearby, holding a half-smoked cigarette and watching an ant on the ground with great interest, like a street thug.
"Little ant, I'll give you a chance, but if you waste me more time, I'll crush you!"
Understanding what he meant, Curtis trembled in fear, and he hurriedly said, "Miss Brown, there is no need to discuss this; the contract is confirmed directly!"
Lori was stunned.
Elbert picked up a brick and drew a circle around the ant, which scurried around inside. "Oh no, the circle is too small, not fun!"
Feeling pressure, Curtis quickly looked away and trembled. "Miss Brown, I think a 1 billion order isn't enough. Let's make it 2 billion! I'll immediately pay a 30% advance, 600 million!"
After saying this, Curtis glanced nervously at Elbert again.
"Mr. James, you..."
Lori was even more bewildered, looking at the anxious Curtis and then at Elbert, who was playing with the ant.
Elbert remained squatting there, not even lifting his head.
The ant bravely crawled out of the dirt circle Elbert had drawn.
Elbert frowned!
"Little ant, you're not following the rules, huh? Do you believe I'll crush you?"
To outsiders, Elbert looked like a simple-minded child at this moment!
Curtis's legs were shaking with fear!
"Miss Brown! Forget the deposit, and I'll pay the full amount right now! Whenever you want to deliver the goods, it's up to you!"
Carol's jaw almost dropped to the ground in astonishment.
'Is this a business negotiation?' she thought.
In her eyes, this was completely giving money away!
Curtis's eyes were filled with tears, "Miss Brown, is this okay with you?"
Before Lori could respond.
Elbert's mocking voice came.
"Alright, I'll let you go free. Get lost as far as you can!"
After saying this, Elbert turned back and smile. "Mr. James, I wasn't talking to you, I was chatting with the ant!"
"It's okay. I know you like animals, and I hope you can take good care of them."
Curtis was sweating profusely, and his facial muscles were almost cramping!
"Miss Brown, did you bring the contract? If not, I have a printer here. Please, you must sign the contract before you leave!"
Lori's brain was completely unable to process what was happening. She blankly said, "Carol, prepare the contract..."
On the way back to the office, in the car.
Lori tightly held the 2-billion-dollar contract, her heart pounding!
This was the largest deal she had ever secured since joining the company!
It was also the largest deal in the company's history!
It could make anyone the top salesperson!
At the same time, it was the most bizarre contract she had ever signed!
Carol was also staring blankly at her phone. "Miss Brown, the payment from Elysium Care Center has been received, the full amount, 2 billion!"
"Okay, got it."
Lori responded absentmindedly, her eyes never leaving the driver, Elbert!
"Elbert, what exactly did you say to Curtis?"
"Did he sign the contract because of you?"
Elbert scratched his head and casually said, "Well, I'm actually a super hacker. I just hacked into the entire computer system of Elysium Care Center!"
"I found out some bad things about Curtis and used them to blackmail him. If he didn't cooperate, I was ready to ruin him."
"That's it."
Lori closed her eyes and sighed deeply, "Elbert, I'm begging you. Can you be normal for once?"
"Alright. Curtis is actually my uncle. Are you satisfied now?"
