Chapter 179 Challenge

"Miss Melissa, what's going on?" one of the gang members asked, confused.

"Don't worry, we're with Mr. Paul! He's got this!" another chimed in.

"There's a whole bunch of us against one Midnight, it's no sweat!"

"Yeah, Mr. Paul won't get hurt!"

They couldn't fathom Melissa's hesitation.

Her expression flickered, and she whispered, "Sir, thank you for your concern. However, they're just a few thugs; it's not worth dirtying your hands. I can handle it myself."

"I have no doubt you can," Elbert replied, his gaze steady and dark. "But this is no longer just your concern."

"Because if someone dares to lay a finger on you, it becomes my business."

She trembled at his words.

Elbert's intense gaze was almost hypnotic, radiating that same irresistible aura she found so compelling.

Yet, a flicker of disappointment sparked within her.

His eyes seemed like bottomless pools, devoid of any visible emotion.

She bit her lip lightly. "Sir, your involvement might come with repercussions in the future."

Unfazed, Elbert picked up an alcohol swab from the table and gently dabbed at Melissa's wounds.

"Melissa, trust me."

She instantly blushed.

Those three words held a power she found impossible to resist.

The gang members stared blankly between them before turning to their leader, Black Fox.

"What's going on?" they whispered.

But Black Fox looked almost giddy, clearly on board with the whole 'hero rescues damsel' scenario.

Elbert then turned and walked away, the group of underlings trailing behind him.

Melissa, her mind racing, had no choice but to follow.

They arrived at Paradise Spa's entrance, with Elbert and Melissa standing by the roadside.

Behind them stood dozens of Black Fox gang members. Melissa had abandoned any pretense of staying with Black Fox and stood firmly beside Elbert.

"Bosses, bad news! Today's not a good day to make a move!" A gang member with spiky yellow hair came rushing out of the spa, the same scout from before.

"What's the situation?" one of the gang leaders growled, his hand resting on a baseball bat hidden beneath his clothes.

"Boss, the intel was wrong. Midnight's got at least thirty guys with him!"

"Thirty?!"

The gang members were stunned.

'This is bad, really bad.' He suddenly realized they had only brought a handful of their toughest guys. Thirty was way out of their league.

But before panic could set in, Elbert spoke. "Wait here."

"Mr. Paul, you're going in alone?"

"Sir, this is different! They've got serious muscle inside. If something happens to you..."

Despite that, Elbert already vanished through the spa doors.

The gang members fidgeted nervously.

Melissa, too, couldn't hide the worry in her eyes.

"Please be careful, sir." she sighed.

Meanwhile, nobody else could sense her concern behind these words.

An eerie silence fell over the spa.

Two minutes crawled by.

Just as the gang members were about to storm the place, Elbert reappeared.

He walked out calmly, dragging an unconscious, half-naked man by the hair. It was Midnight, clad only in his underwear.

Without a word, he tossed the man at their feet. "Take him."

Everyone was speechless.

'That was Midnight? Taken down just like that?' Melissa discreetly shielded her eyes.

The gang members couldn't resist peering into the spa.

Inside, several black-clad bodyguards lay sprawled on the floor, unconscious. Some still had their hands in their pockets, clearly knocked out before they could even draw their weapons.

And those weapons... those were guns!

They looked back at the unconscious Midnight.

Shock and awe washed over them. They knew how dangerous Midnight was; a true force to be reckoned with.

"Thirty armed bodyguards, taken down in under two minutes so quietly?"

"Mr. Paul was on a whole other level."

"He's living proof that the strongest spoke the least."

Whispers spread through the crowd.

Several of the gang leaders, who had never witnessed Elbert in action, finally understood why Black Fox held him in such high regard.

By the time they snapped out of their stupor, Paul was already walking away with Melissa.

They scrambled to get Midnight into a car.

Later that day, on the fifth floor of the Luminous office building, Midnight knelt on the ground still in his underwear, hands tied behind his back.

He glared at the young man seated behind the desk, someone he'd never seen before.

"Who the hell are you, punk?" he spat angrily. "Jumping me while I'm getting a massage? Real classy move."

"Someone like you doesn't deserve a fair fight," Elbert replied coldly, his eyes fixed on the humiliated Midnight. "I was merely saving time."

Midnight replayed the events in his head. He was a skilled fighter, always alert. He had sensed someone approaching, but everything went black before he could react. The next thing he knew, he was tied up in Black Fox's headquarters.

"Don't get cocky," he snarled. "You have no idea who you're messing with. My boss will crush you."

"Your parlor tricks are nothing compared to him. You're finished; the whole Black Fox gang is finished! When my brother finds out you kidnapped me, he'll unleash hell. None of you will escape!"

Elbert smiled unnervingly. "Perfect."

He turned to Black Fox, who instantly understood. Black Fox grabbed his phone and shoved it toward Midnight. "Give me his number. Call your boss."

Midnight hesitated, fear in his eyes. "What are you doing?"

Black Fox grinned menacingly. "Now that Mr. Paul is back, we're officially challenging your precious Dragon Pride Syndicate. Tonight, at midnight, tell your boss to bring everyone to the abandoned stadium in the north suburbs. Come ready for your funeral."
