Chapter 41 The Weather Is Nice!
Five minutes later, Elbert followed Lori into the Wavehaven Commercial Bank, feeling disgruntled.
“Elbert, based on my prediction, something interesting is going to happen in this bank in 5 minutes.” Robert's voice suddenly rang out in Elbert's mind.
Several red circles appeared in Elbert's field of vision, locking onto a few scattered customers in the bank lobby.
"Even though their coats are tightly worn, you can tell from their body outlines and breathing rates that these people have strength and agility far beyond ordinary people," Robert said.
The red circles then locked onto their eyes.
"They're constantly observing, looking at the cash in the windows, the security guards' movements, and escape routes," he added.
Next, the red circle in Elbert's vision locked onto one person's waist. The shape was odd as if there was a hard object protruding.
"Based on its dynamics and shape, there's a 68% chance it's a handgun."
"And these six people are very special; their background information is almost completely blank."
Hearing this, Elbert observed everything without showing any signs and said helplessly, "Robert, is this what you meant by something interesting happening? Someone's going to rob the bank. And they seem to be professionals. Come on, that's not interesting."
At this moment, Lori, who had finished her transaction, came over to Elbert. She handed over three stacks of cash. “Elbert, take this.”
Elbert was puzzled. "What do you mean by this?"
"I know you're out of money, and... You have too much pride. Right now, there's no one here but me. Take it. Use it as pocket money." Lori's expression seemed domineering. She was afraid Elbert would refuse.
Her father had given him $5 million, but this guy spent it all recklessly and gave $4 million to Gary. Now, he couldn't even afford groceries.
So, there was no reason she didn’t give him some money for living.
Elbert was at a loss for words. Lori's attitude was indeed a bit cold and unlikable, but she wasn't a bad person by nature. She wanted to help Gary, and she carefully observed everything about him.
Elbert finally understood why Lori had specifically chosen this time and hadn't arranged for an assistant. She had come herself to withdraw the money. It was to protect his pride. Elbert sighed softly, feeling a bit touched. "At least you have a conscience and know I'm your benefactor." He didn't take the money but raised an eyebrow and said, "However, my cigarettes just ran out. Go buy me a pack."
Lori stood there with the money in her hand, eyes wide open. “Elbert, don't push it.”
"Please, just once, I just want to smoke so badly now," Elbert said with a grin.
Lori, seeing Elbert suddenly become gentle, was momentarily at a loss for words. As if controlled by an unseen force, Lori walked out in a daze towards the supermarket across the street.
Watching Lori's stumbling figure, Elbert shook his head slightly and walked to the rest area. He sat down next to a man in a trench coat.
“Hello there,” Elbert grinned and smiled at the man beside him.
“Hello,” the man replied calmly.
"Hey buddy, the weather's nice today. What are you doing here? Are you here to rob the bank?"
"Yeah, the weather is indeed... What did you say?" The man in the trench coat suddenly stood up, looking at Elbert in shock.
Elbert smiled wickedly and said, "Sorry, cutting in line."
Outside in the surveillance van, Jeffery's face changed as he watched the screen. "What's happening? Someone's interfering with No. 6."
The next moment, Jeffery almost spat out the coffee he had just sipped. On the surveillance screen, the young man in a white shirt took advantage of No. 6's momentary distraction and threw a punch. A direct hit to the jaw. No. 6's body flew backward.
"What's going on?" Jeffery stood up abruptly, shocked. "Did Leonard's side break the rules? "
"Reporting, Chief, I've reviewed the files of all of Leonard's people. There's no one like him." Grizzly was also stunned.
The next scene shocked the two even more. The young man in white, after knocking down No. 6, didn't stop. He moved swiftly, heading straight for the other five rookies. The rookies were also confused. Why did the exercise start early? But seeing Elbert charge at them like a fierce tiger, they had no time to think.
The bank lobby instantly descended into chaos, with civilians fleeing in panic. On the screen, whether it was close combat or special combat techniques, Elbert easily neutralized them all.
No. 1 was knocked flying. No. 2 was knocked out... No. 3's weapon was confiscated... Nos. 4 and 5 were KO'd simultaneously. All the scenes happened too quickly.
Two minutes later, all six ApexGuardians rookies were incapacitated.
Jeffery and Grizzly were stunned. "That's impossible." Jeffery was instantly agitated. "They are rookies as a modesty. There's no way some random kid could take them all down. This is a joke."
Jeffery pointed at the surveillance screen, his finger trembling violently. "It must be someone Leonard arranged to mess with me."
"No way. Leonard can't have someone this good under him." Jeffery, the renowned ApexGuardians Chief Chief, was almost incoherent.
Grizzly was also stunned by the scene. Instinctively, he stood up straight, his head nearly smashing through the top of the surveillance van. "Chief, that kid is leaving."
"No way." Jeffery's beard twitched with anger, and he shouted, "Grizzly, go, bring that kid back alive for me."
"Roger that." Grizzly was a real ApexGuardians member. He jumped off the surveillance van. With a burst of strength in his legs, he shot towards the bank like an arrow. His force left two small pits on the smooth asphalt road.
In the bank lobby, Elbert looked at the 'robbers' sprawled on the ground and calmly dusted off his hands. "I have to say, as robbers, you're strong, but you chose the wrong path."
Suddenly, a fierce wind howled. Not far away, a man resembling a 'black tower' charged at Elbert. He looked as imposing as a heavy-duty steamroller.
"More?" Elbert looked at the approaching man, eyes narrowing. This guy's aura was clearly several times stronger than the previous ones.
"Looks like I need to take this punch seriously. Here we go." he said.
A thunderous crash.
The powerful ApexGuardians member, Captain Grizzly, was sent flying 10 meters. He crashed into a nearby lounge, glass shattering, ceiling collapsing.
Grizzly's body was completely buried. And Elbert still maintained his crouched, arm-extended punching stance.
In the surveillance van, Jeffery gasped. "Am I really getting old? Am I seeing things?"
