Chapter 416 What a Coincidence
Four hours later, at the government building.
Unlike Area 52, this place was buzzing with activity.
Upstairs, government secretaries and think tank members were hustling around.
Meanwhile, down in the underground secret research center, a bunch of researchers were hard at work.
Elbert had gone through quite a bit of trouble.
He snuck in, knocked out a scientist, dragged him into a storage room, and hypnotized him.
Only then did he throw on a lab coat, turning himself into a professor's assistant, and confidently followed the professor into the White House's underground secret base.
It took a solid 15 minutes.
The elevator kept dinging as it dropped down to the 21st underground level!
This was one of Victoria's secret spots—the "Green Room"!
After getting past the security system.
The hypnotized professor was left standing guard at the elevator entrance, while Elbert ventured in alone!
Seeing the room's interior, he was both surprised and let out a deep sigh.
In the dim light, nearly a hundred glass display cases stood tall!
Various animal specimens and organs are preserved in formaldehyde.
This place wasn't part of the research department, so it was empty.
It seemed more like the government's private collection center.
Victoria's bizarre taste always involved showing off hunting trophies in rooms!
Like those decorative rhino horns and deer heads!
But the current Green Room was a hundred times crazier!
"Sterling, you old creep."
Elbert shook his head slightly, weaving through the exhibits.
Ahead was a glass display case nearly ten feet tall.
Inside was a ten-foot-tall humanoid "gorilla" specimen with white fur.
Elbert paused, looking up.
So, the legendary Yeti really did exist.
Elbert kept moving forward.
He then saw a skull at least half the size of the room, hanging in mid-air!
The skull was oval-shaped, with sharp teeth!
The label below read: Loch Ness Monster Skull, suspected to be a species of plesiosaur (extinct).
Elbert frowned.
How many secrets were hidden in this room?
However.
Elbert knew this wasn't the main attraction!
From the depths of the Green Room, a cool breeze was faintly blowing!
It was the location of the cold storage!
Elbert kept walking, the motion-sensor lights automatically flicking on above him.
Even though he was mentally prepared, he still felt a chill run down his spine!
Everything before him seemed surreal!
Ahead was a thick glass box, with cold air swirling inside.
Inside, a small, pale figure lay flat!
Its body was no bigger than a ten-year-old kid, with a big head, no hair, eyes shut, nostrils like two black holes, no lips, and a mouth that was just a slit!
It had five long fingers, and its arms stretched past its knees!
Its skin was wrinkled and pale, like chicken skin.
The label below read: Discovered in 1990, in alien wreckage in the Silverpeak Mountains.
Elbert shivered!
Seeing was believing, and he couldn't hide his shock—these things really existed!
And they did look a lot like the images floating around online!
But regular folks would never know about these in their lifetime!
Robert: "The universe is huge. If a planet can support us, naturally, some planets can support other species. It's not surprising!"
Elbert was momentarily stunned.
The alien in front of him seemed oddly familiar.
Then it hit him.
The hacker Left Shoulder, who had once died by his hand, looked strikingly similar to this alien!
With those long fingers, long arms, and a big head!
Could someone have used alien genes for human modification?
Elbert shook his head, hoping it was just his imagination!
"Elbert!"
"Let's get moving. After all, we're here to... borrow something!"
"Staying too long isn't good!"
Robert's voice came through.
Elbert nodded, operated the equipment to open it slowly, and then a small black shadow flew from his sleeve, lightly touching the alien's remains before quickly retracting.
The 'Null' on his wrist had already taken a tissue sample.
Robert appeared, a bit excited, as this was like the key to a giant UFO in his eyes!
Elbert restored the cold storage to its original state.
Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly turned his head sharply!
He looked towards the deepest part of the Green Room, frowning slightly!
The room was very quiet!
Even Robert hadn't noticed anything unusual!
But Elbert had this gut feeling, without any reason, to go and check it out!
Elbert moved forward slowly.
With each step, the overhead lights flicked on one by one.
The lights continued to illuminate all the way to the end!
And there, another cold storage unit stood!
It was taller than a person, standing on the ground!
Inside was a suit of armor!
Elbert approached slowly, seeing that the armor was entirely silver, giving off a high-tech vibe, with tightly connected joints!
And the armor's shape was that of a complete human form.
To be precise, it looked like an exoskeleton!
Moreover, the armor... had a slender waist and a prominent chest, indicating a female form!
Elbert squinted, surprised!
This wasn't just armor; there was a body inside!
Because beneath the helmet, silver hair cascaded down!
But the true face was hidden!
Elbert glanced at the label, which stated that this was a body discovered beneath the northern ice, alongside spaceship wreckage.
Deceased for many years!
No one knew how long she had been frozen.
Her armor was extremely hard, impossible to dismantle or divide, so it was temporarily preserved.
Suddenly.
Elbert noticed two complex symbols engraved on the chest of the armor.
A light circle appeared in his view, enlarging and analyzing the symbols.
Robert: "These look like ancient Mayan script!"
"And the mystery of the Mayan civilization has always been linked to alien civilizations!"
Elbert's view flickered as Robert tried to decipher the symbols!
Moments later, the results were in.
Robert was a bit surprised, "The symbols are 90% similar to two Mayan hieroglyphs, meaning—Hunter!"
Hunter?
Elbert was lost in thought.
A lone hunter on Earth?
Or was she part of the mysteriously vanished Mayan civilization?
Instinctively, Elbert opened the cold storage.
Gently touching the armor.
Robert: "Elbert, this armor isn't made of any known metal. Initially, its density seems to exceed steel by a thousand times."
Just as Robert finished speaking.
A strand of hair fell from the armor's shoulder, landing in Elbert's hand!
Elbert looked at the silver hair, indistinguishable from human hair, feeling a sense of wonder!
He stored the hair in the 'Null' on his wrist.
After a moment of contemplation.
Elbert restored everything and left slowly.
Everything in the Green Room left him bewildered, without any clear answers.
Yet, unknowingly, a sense of awe for the mysteries of the universe grew within him!
As he took the elevator back.
Elbert had a sudden thought—this "Green Room" was on the 21st underground level of the government building.
So what about levels 1-20?
He hacked into the elevator's password system, stopping at the 18th floor!
As the doors opened, Elbert was once again amazed!
Before him stood a 20-meter-tall black mech!
He had to admit, Sterling was quite the researcher!
Elbert casually walked to the control panel, briefly checking the mech's status.
With the hypnotized professor standing guard and Elbert's natural demeanor.
He didn't arouse any suspicion from the staff.
Elbert looked at the screen, pondering.
"Constructed entirely of titanium alloy, powered by a micro-reactor."
"Operates by capturing the pilot's neural data."
Elbert nodded, impressed by the technology!
It was almost on par with the second-generation Coco.
After a quick look, Elbert realized the mech was entirely pilot-controlled, making network hijacking impossible.
With no other option, he embedded a trigger virus in the mech's program.
If this mech ever came online, once it reached an area covered by the internet, Elbert could issue a command, forcefully ejecting the pilot.
Five minutes later, Elbert exhaled slightly.
Returning to the elevator.
In the government building's office.
Sterling had just returned, slumping into his chair!
He couldn't wrap his head around it.
Elbert wasn't dead, hadn't returned to Veridiania, and had appeared in Victoria!
And at Area 52, no less!
Even though several hours had passed.
Sterling was still drenched in cold sweat!
Earlier, he received word that Area 52 had been thoroughly checked, with nothing missing or damaged!
Sterling was even more puzzled.
What was Elbert up to?
Could it be he was just curious, treating Area 52 like a theme park for exploration?
Sterling frowned, feeling his brain was a bit overwhelmed.
Sterling pondered for a long time.
His only reliance now was the "Osiris" project in development!
That's why he felt secure in the government building!
With that in mind, he called his chief secretary, Theron, to check on Osiris's progress!
The two left the office, passing through multiple security checkpoints.
Arriving at the secret elevator.
Seeing the status display, Sterling was momentarily stunned—someone was in the elevator, returning to the surface?
"Theron, who dares!"
"This is my private elevator!"
Sterling's brows furrowed, determined to severely punish the staff member who broke protocol!
Ding!
The elevator doors opened.
A figure in a white shirt, hands in pockets, stood inside.
As the elevator reached the floor, he confirmed the level.
Only then did he slowly step out.
Sterling's mind went blank!
His blood pressure shot up to 180!
Every hair on his body stood on end, frozen in place, as if the air had solidified!
The figure in the white shirt glanced at Sterling, "What a coincidence."
"What... a coincidence!"
Sterling's face turned from red to purple, his eyes bulging, staring intently at the figure.
The figure in white remained utterly calm, greeting him before continuing to stroll away.
He looked just like an employee brushing past a colleague, ready to head home after work!
