Chapter 348 Can't Afford to Offend
Twenty minutes earlier.
Laura got a call from Leonard, and it felt like she’d been struck by lightning!
Jessica had an accident and died on the spot!
She dropped everything and rushed to the scene, only to find herself at Elbert’s weird house!
She had once followed the movers Elbert hired and had been there before.
Laura’s eyes fell on two body bags on the ground.
Her eyes went blank!
She dashed forward and unzipped one of the bags, revealing Jessica’s bloodless face!
She broke down, crying uncontrollably!
"Leonard, what the hell happened?"
Seeing the hysterical Laura, Leonard closed his eyes slightly.
This was a long story.
"Please accept our condolences. Your family member was involved in a cyborg incident, and we need to take her body back for research." Robbins thought for a moment before speaking.
Laura's tear-filled eyes widened, "Who are you? Jessica is already dead, why do you need to take her away?"
"Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of her," Robbins said in a low voice, signaling behind him. Several FIC members immediately stepped forward, ready to move the body.
At that moment, a figure in a red dress stepped forward.
She frowned slightly, "Captain, I advise you to stop. Someone has instructed that they want these two buried together, and it's someone we can’t afford to offend!"
"Agent Trinity?"
Robbins exclaimed, "What do you mean, someone we can’t afford to offend? Also, I've been looking for you! There's something very important."
As Robbins spoke, his body suddenly stiffened!
He saw.
In the Lab Graveyard, Elbert, now dressed in clean clothes, slowly walked out!
Still in that white shirt!
His head was lowered, and he seemed in a bad mood!
Elbert didn’t speak; he slowly walked to the side of the crowd, found a stone, and slowly sat down.
Elbert slightly turned his head and glanced at Robbins!
Robbins' body shook violently!
Paul Six!
He’s here!
I’ve been hunting for this super-powerful individual for so long!
There are so many questions I need to discuss with him!
He was the one who punched and killed the C-level cyborg Earl!
The Shepherd organization was also probably destroyed by him!
Our FIC was what it was today, all thanks to him!
Robbins' mind was in chaos, not knowing how to pass the conversation!
And Laura, too, was staring with wide eyes at Elbert, whom she hadn't seen in ages!
Now, with Jessica mysteriously dying in front of his door, common sense would tie it back to Elbert.
But Laura didn’t dare think that way!
Even in this baffling situation, she was too scared to speculate about Elbert at all!
The scene suddenly turned silent.
Elbert just sat there quietly, yet he emanated a powerful presence!
A gloomy aura enveloped the area!
Suddenly, an FIC member who didn’t recognize Elbert and was clueless, slightly moved, ready to bend down and move the body.
Elbert sighed lightly!
With a wave of his hand!
Several black streaks shot out from his sleeve!
They grew in the wind!
Rapidly splitting in the air!
In an instant, they transformed into a black storm!
In the blink of an eye, the black storm swept!
Quickly engulfing the FIC members standing by the body!
It all happened too fast!
The crowd didn’t have time to react!
But they saw Elbert clench his fist, and the storm turned back into black streaks, disappearing into his sleeve again!
Several FIC members stood shocked, their ties split in half, belts snapped, badges turned to dust!
Various items scattered to the ground!
The faces of the FIC members were etched with disbelief!
This...
The air was eerily still!
Even Leonard and the others, witnessing this phenomenal feat, were utterly stunned!
And Laura was absolutely floored!
She lived in the world of ordinary folks!
Elbert's godlike abilities were beyond her grasp, and she hadn’t even seen a typical cyborg!
At this moment, Laura felt faint!
This was an unbelievable sight!
Since meeting Elbert, her perception had been shattered multiple times!
But now, it had reached a level beyond her comprehension!
Her worldview took a massive hit!
She suddenly realized the gulf between her and Elbert was an unbridgeable abyss!
In the dead silence, only Elbert remained composed, staring ahead!
Robbins' teeth chattered!
Was this still within the realm of cyborgs?
This was too surreal!
He stared at Elbert almost robotically.
Elbert's low voice broke the silence, "Robbins!"
"What?" Robbins inexplicably shivered!
"This is the black storm in the report that turned people to dust," Elbert said calmly.
"I...I..."Robbins was at a loss for words!
"And..." Elbert gazed into the distance, his voice steady, "Trinity mentioned I’m someone you can't afford to cross. Any questions?"
Boom!
Robbins' mind felt like it had been struck by lightning!
Did Paul Six actually say that?
He wants to bury the body together?
And I tried to interfere?
"I must've lost my mind! Oh no, no questions!"
Robbins suddenly snapped to attention!
Then, Robbins caught his gaffe!
He quickly corrected himself, "Mr. Paul Six, a member of our FIC Hero Squad. If you say so, we definitely won't take the body! You are one of us, and we are yours!"
After a brief pause, he continued, "Paul Six hero, we're very sincere to visit you to our headquarters. If you're not satisfied with your current authority, you can pick any position in the entire FIC!"
Leonard was in shock from these words!
Paul Six?
If I'm not mistaken, Elbert just took over the FIC again, right?
I know how he loves giving himself nicknames!
Paul Two is a thug, Paul Three is a chief!
Then what about one, four, and five?!
My God, this guy!
But Elbert sighed, "Robbins, your FIC, as a cyborg regulatory agency, lacks justice, only serving foreign interests, becoming lackeys. Do you think you deserve the title of 'hero'?"
"As it happens, my perspective has also shifted recently!"
"The name Paul Six carries too much weight; your FIC can't handle it!"
"But you're right about one thing, I don't mind the FIC being mine!"
Elbert's gaze was distant, his voice calm as a still pond.
He seemed lost in thought!
Awkwardly, Robbins responded, "Paul Six hero, please don't joke, our FIC..."
But Elbert turned back abruptly, cutting Robbins off, and addressed Laura, "Officer Reed will explain your sister's situation to you!"
"You'll soon understand, times have changed. When you return to the group, gather the M-69 project members, screen them thoroughly, only keep the trustworthy elites, then await my orders!"
Laura, stunned for a moment, silently nodded. She didn't understand, but she had no doubts.
Then.
Under the dazed gazes of the crowd, Elbert stood up and left, effortlessly lifting the immobile giant mechanical dog with one hand, and slowly walked into the graveyard.
Although Elbert had smashed the Lab Graveyard gate earlier, it was wide open now.
But no one dared follow him in!
