Chapter 291 Saving Lives is the Priority
Hearing the driver freak out, Elbert's memory kicked in.
Wasn't she the one in the photo Connor had hanging in the car? The cyborg Harper, who took on the title of Saint Evalia?
She once stopped a locust plague in Evalia and was worshipped by the whole nation.
She was supposed to be Evalia's spiritual leader, and now she was lying in front of his car?
Elbert suddenly noticed.
A pool of blood was slowly trickling down the hood of the Mercedes from under Harper's body, dripping steadily onto the ground.
Elbert frowned. It looked like she was hurt and lost control, which made her fall onto the car.
As Elbert moved closer to check, he caught a whiff of a strange fragrance.
It was coming from her, and it was really enticing.
The black mist of insects in the sky started to scatter and go wild, like they had lost their leader!
Robert Williams chimed in, "This woman has a natural body fragrance that can emit a kind of aroma. After she was modified and enhanced, she could control this aroma to make insects obey her commands!"
Elbert nodded slightly. No wonder she could stop the locust plague; it was her special ability.
Right now, Harper'sface was pale, and the blood kept flowing.
Connor was freaking out, pulling his hair and spinning in circles!
Elbert couldn't just stand there and watch her die. He reached out to touch her, getting ready to lift her off the car.
As he was about to lift her, she frowned and moaned.
Harper's eyes fluttered open, and she tried to get up. When she saw where she was, her expression tightened.
"You two... leave quickly..." Harper struggled to support herself, weakly saying, "Someone is chasing me... you can't stop them, leave quickly..."
Harper coughed violently a few times, "Leave me here, and run away as fast as you can..."
"What, are there bad guys?" Connor was panicking, looking around frantically, "But you are our saint, I can't just run away!"
"You can't stop them, leave quickly..." Harper said, but she couldn't fight the blood loss. Her body swayed, her vision went black, and she fainted again.
She slid off the car, and Elbert caught her, holding her in his arms.
Then Elbert squinted, activating his combat awareness. He quickly locked onto a figure a mile away.
It was a man dressed in leather, moving on all fours at a terrifying speed, rushing towards them.
Elbert could tell he was a powerful cyborg, full of killing intent.
He wasn't just after Harper; he was targeting Elbert and Connor too!
At that moment, the driver, Connor, also noticed the figure in the distance, "Mr. Perry, the thug is over there. Let's get ready, two against one! Protect the saint!"
Elbert smiled slightly and pointed behind the driver with one hand."Connor, look over there. Isn't that a UFO?"
Connor was stunned, instinctively turning around to look, "Where?"
Elbert's eyes flashed coldly, and a shadow shot out from his sleeve like lightning.
By now, the enemy was within 2000 feet of Elbert, well within his range.
The leather-clad cyborg could never have anticipated such an attack!
He only felt a shadow flash by, and suddenly, a blood hole appeared in his chest, draining his life away.
In his final moments, he saw a mass of black substance form a ring, wrapping around his neck and tossing him into a nearby pit.
Within 3 seconds, the killer was dead.
Elbert sighed slightly. He didn't know who the guy was, but he couldn't just stand by and do nothing.
"Mr. Perry, is there no UFO?" Connor turned back, "Where's the thug?"
Elbert shrugged, "Maybe he got scared off by your aura!"
"Really? Alright then!" Connor grinned, "Mr. Perry, let's hurry back to Starglow City and get the saint treated!" He quickly hopped back into the driver's seat. Even though the hood of the Mercedes SUV was dented from Harper's fall, it didn't affect the driving.
In the back seat, Elbert found some ropes and tied up Harper's arm and shoulder wounds, barely stopping the bleeding.
Thinking about the recent chaos among Evalia's cyborgs, he knew the killer was no ordinary thug, and Harper's pursuers wouldn't give up easily.
He looked up and said, "Connor, no need to go to the hospital. Find me a secluded small house, with no one around! Solve all problems with money!"
"You're right. If Harper shows up at the hospital, it might cause a commotion!" Connor said, "A secluded place? Solved with money?"
"Mr. Perry, I have the perfect spot, 15 minutes away," Connor added.
Connor clapped his hands and floored the gas, the car speeding away.
Fifteen minutes later, Elbert placed the unconscious Harper on a bed in a small room. He looked out at the small courtyard; it was a two-story house in a desolate, uninhabited area, surrounded by large empty houses.
He glanced at a family photo of three on the wall and sighed slightly.
The perfect place Connor mentioned, with a rent of 300 euros, was indeed his home. As soon as Connor dropped them off, he drove out to the pharmacy.
Elbert didn't care about the money, but he was worried that if he fought with the cyborgs, innocent people would get hurt.
He looked at Harper on the bed. She was still wearing a veil, and her beautiful face was starkly pale from blood loss.
'First, I need to treat the wound to prevent infection in this hot weather...' Elbert thought, as comprehensive emergency treatment knowledge flashed in his mind.
But he hesitated when he reached out. The woman in front of him was extremely alluring, and her attire was like that of an ancient deity.
