Chapter 463 Archaeological Team

Rachel smiled, her lips curling slightly.

Her gentle and graceful demeanor seemed at odds with her sharp, professional attire.

"Hey, Elbert."

"My training on Vast Mountain wrapped up a few days ago, and now I'm back to work."

Elbert nodded slightly.

Information about her flashed in his mind.

'Rachel, 26 years old.

History professor at Stanford University.

Expert in ancient languages.

Specialist in ancient civilizations.

Senior researcher at the world-renowned Wilson Laboratory.

Co-founder of Rhys International Artifacts Auction Company.'

There were more titles, like flight instructor, extreme sports enthusiast, and member of the International Combat Association.

Rachel smiled again. "I work as an archaeologist."

Elbert nodded once more.

It took him until the second page of her information to find that title.

Rachel's credentials were overwhelming.

What surprised Elbert was that there was no information about Rachel's family online.

But Elbert believed Rachel was kind-hearted and gentle by nature.

He turned to the group of armed men behind him. "Are they your team? What are you doing here?"

"They're my family," Rachel said, glancing at the group. "We're here to find a lost ruin. Have you heard of the Golden Kingdom, Elbert?"

Before Elbert could respond, one of the armed men, Terry, interrupted.

He stepped in front of Elbert. "Rachel! This guy is a stranger. Don't tell him too much!"

Terry pulled out a device, a cyborg detector, and scanned Elbert with it. He was shocked. "He's just an ordinary person?"

He quickly regained his composure. "We're 700 miles deep into the desert! How did an ordinary person like you get here without any equipment? Something's off!"

Rachel smiled slightly. "Elbert is a disciple of Mr. Graham."

"Oh?"

"Mr. Graham's disciple?"

Not only Terry but also the other armed men behind him were taken aback, their gazes towards Elbert changing instantly.

They showed a deep respect from the bottom of their hearts.

Rachel continued seriously, "Elbert only stayed at the temple for ten days, but no one there doubted him. He's not an ordinary person."

Ten days?

The armed men had complex expressions.

The strength of the Reincarnation Temple was undeniable!

Throughout the conversation, Elbert remained silent, quietly observing everything.

First, there was the cyborg detector Terry had used. It was more compact and precise than anything available on the market, even scanning Elbert's body data in a short time for reference.

This was beyond current technology.

Then there were their conversations, where they fully acknowledged Marcus's strength.

Ordinary people wouldn't know these things!

Finally, there was the mention of the Golden Kingdom by Rachel.

One of the top ten ancient civilizations in the world!

Legend has it that an ancient adventurer discovered a kingdom made of gold in an ancient jungle.

The adventurer returned home and led a large army to plunder the gold.

But the army, which was ahead of its time in firearm technology, never returned!

The Golden Kingdom vanished, becoming a mystery!

At this moment, they were in the Veridiania Desert.

How could this be related to the Golden Kingdom?

Robert: "Their phones and GPS have no relevant data. Their information source must be that thing!"

A red circle appeared in Elbert's vision, highlighting an old parchment scroll on Terry's waist.

"Elbert, you don't need to worry," Rachel said with a smile, mistaking Elbert's concern for the heavy weapons in the group. "We often dig in harsh environments, so we carry weapons for self-defense."

Elbert nodded slightly. The explanation seemed reasonable. He hoped Rachel wasn't involved in any criminal activities.

"Elbert, what are you doing here alone?" Rachel asked.

Elbert chuckled. "I'm also searching for an underground city, but not the Golden Kingdom."

"Another city? What an amateur!" Terry scoffed. "Did you get here on a dream?"

Rachel's expression suddenly sharpened, her eyes turning cold. She swiftly drew a dagger from her waist, a red light flashing as she sliced a desert viper behind Elbert in half.

Rachel slowly sheathed her dagger. "Elbert, this desert is full of dangers. We're heading to the center. Why don't you ride with us?"

Elbert's eyes narrowed. Rachel's skills were impressive! In that instant, she showed no sign of weakness! And her dagger was no ordinary weapon! The blade had a straight red laser, gleaming brightly!

Robert: "The handle has a CO2 laser, with a pulse width less than 15ps, extremely precise and compact, surpassing current technology! It can easily cut through diamonds!"

Elbert sighed. Rachel was extraordinary. This team was well-prepared. But no matter how advanced their technology, if they stumbled upon the Apocalypse Association while wandering the desert, they wouldn't leave alive!

Elbert said no more and climbed into one of their off-road vehicles. He didn't sit in the driver's seat but stood in the back of a supply truck, hands behind his back.

Terry remained wary of Elbert but didn't dare defy Rachel, so he climbed into the truck bed as well. The convoy started moving. The desert terrain was uneven, the vehicles bouncing like roller coasters.

Terry watched Elbert, who stood calmly, scanning the desert. He scoffed. "Got some skills? I can do it too!"

He stood up, chest out, standing next to Elbert. Two seconds later, the vehicle hit a bump, and Terry lost his balance, crashing into the truck bed! His head turned red instantly.

Elbert remained steady, sighing softly. "I just lost my balance!" Terry muttered, standing up again. But throughout the journey, he kept tumbling.

"You have good balance, huh?" Terry said, sitting in the truck bed, holding the railing with one hand and opening a black box with the other. The box was filled with small drones.

"See this? These are hummingbird drones." Terry operated the controller, and the drones buzzed into the air, spreading out quickly. He showed Elbert the controller, displaying multiple surveillance feeds from a hundred meters up.

"Our equipment can survey 20 miles in 10 minutes. If there's anything unusual on the ground, we'll spot it immediately!" Terry boasted, but Elbert paid no attention.

High above, the Celestial Pioneer was flying rapidly, having surveyed the entire desert perimeter in 20 minutes, covering 1000 miles! Elbert's right eye flickered as he carefully observed the footage.

"Hmph, nothing to say?" Terry pointed to another off-road vehicle with a large detection device. "This is our enhanced metal detector. It covers an area of 3 miles in diameter and 3000 feet deep! If there's any metal over 4 pounds, we'll find it immediately!"

Terry kept bragging, but Elbert felt thirsty. While monitoring the Celestial Pioneer's signals, he also used Herschel's DNA to search for underground structures within 30 miles.

"Elbert!" Rachel called from the rear window. "I have fresh water and washed apples. Do you want some?"

Elbert smiled warmly. Rachel was still so considerate.

Terry was taken aback. "Rachel, I'm thirsty too!"

Rachel frowned slightly. "Get it yourself."
