Ten minutes later, Sterling finally chilled out.
As the big boss of a powerful nation, he wasn't as useless as folks thought.
"Theron, hit up Veridiania and draft the Cyber Peace Treaty. Veridiania will totally go for those terms!" Sterling's eyes gleamed as he muttered, "Tell Stellar Genetics Corporation to gear up for a legit entry into Veridiania!"
Stellar Genetics Corporation?
Theron had a lightbulb moment!
When the missile was about to blow, Mr. Sterling seemed freaked, but he was actually playing 4D chess!
The Cyber Peace Treaty would put the brakes on Paul Four!
And Stellar Genetics Corporation was the top dog in cyborg research in Victoria!
They were cooking up a cyborg hero project!
"Sir, are you saying..."
Sterling flashed a sly grin. "Didn't I say I'd invest in Veridiania? Stellar Genetics Corporation is part of that!"
Theron nodded, keeping his cool.
"Sir, just to be clear: are you planning to fast-track that era?" The secretary was still jittery and asked again.
Sterling snapped, "In Veridiania's cyber world, there's a hacker named Paul Four, and I can't handle him. But in human evolution, do they have a 'Paul Four'? I wanna see what Veridiania's got to go up against me this time! I gotta win this round!"
Sterling's eyes were dark. "Tell Stellar Genetics Corporation there's no need to play it low-key this time. First, win over Veridiania's people for me! Once we're in, push the hero angle! Veridiania's government can't make cyborgs, but their people will idolize Victoria's heroes! I want them to lose all faith in Veridiania's government! And I want them to know who the real world leader is!"
Sterling slowly stood up, gritting his teeth and letting out a breath! "What good is Veridiania's hacker? I wanna leave Veridiania in the dust. When the new era hits, I want Veridiania to be the most backward and weakest in the whole international scene!"
Only then did Theron realize Sterling's plan was epic!
This strategy was next-level genius!
"Hold up!" Just as Theron was about to bounce and make arrangements, Sterling's voice came again. "From now on, all our cyborg plans and Hades-related stuff must be totally offline!"
"Got it, Sterling."
Sterling's eyes darted around. "Go dig up Veridiania's ancient texts for me, I need to study them!"
"On it, Sterling."
Thirty minutes later, in the government office, there were stacks of books everywhere!
The floor was about to give in.
"Theron, you sure these aren't duplicates?"
"Positive, Sterling."
Damn it!
Buried in the sea of books, Sterling popped his head out, "I need some fresh air!"
Ten minutes later, Sterling and Theron hit up a secret elevator inside the government building.
After a bunch of personal checks, the elevator slowly dropped to the 150th underground floor.
No one would have guessed that under the government building, there was a massive secret space!
And the elevator was just hanging there!
The vast underground space was laid out in full view!
One whole wall was decked out with a crazy intricate steel support frame!
Tons of wires and gadgets with blinking lights filled the place!
At least 500 people were hustling on their tasks!
Welding sparks were flying everywhere!
Bright white lights lit up the ceiling!
And in the middle of the support frame stood a massive 65-foot mech.
It was quiet now, but everyone could feel its raw power!
The mech was matte black, with sharp edges and dark red lines pulsing all over it!
It was intimidating as hell!
Sterling and Secretary Theron got down there, but they didn't even reach the mech's feet!
They looked up, totally in awe!
A pneumatic hiss echoed.
With a puff of smoke, the chest cockpit of the black mech slowly opened, but it looked kinda weird.
It wasn't made for a human!
The headgear was too big for a normal person!
The arm controls were longer than human arms!
An engineer climbed out, but he had graying hair and a regular body size, definitely not the real pilot of this beast!
Even as he climbed down the ladder and got to Sterling's side, he kept his cool.
He stood next to Sterling and said slowly, "Good thing you didn't fire up Hades just now, or our only pilot would've been toast from the backlash!"
Sterling nodded slightly. "Thaddeus, I know how rare it is to find a pilot like that, but don't sweat it, I'll buy you enough time! Just keep Hades on track! And try to crank out as many pilots as you can! Hades is the next big thing after human evolution!"
Meanwhile, Elbert walked out of the Cybersecurity Center.
Without looking around, he headed straight to a nearby apartment building!
Sunset Meadows was a 30-year-old building, pretty much abandoned.
Only a corner on the 5th floor had some faint lights flickering.
It was packed with computers, servers, and wires all over the floor.
A tiny room, like a computer junkyard, was crowded and messy!
A sleazy, weird voice echoed there.
"Paul Four, no matter how strong your attack is, I still found your location! I hacked in through the network cable, boosting my attack speed by 3.6 times! I've set up the same signal simulators in 36 spots around the world, all mimicking my actions! Go ahead, check them one by one, it'll waste you 3 hours just to get the info! My firewall uses the Miluo function algorithm, with real-time rolling and updating codes! You can't break in. Even I can't crack it as the admin! You can't find me? You'll never guess, I'm right next to you! A tiny worm virus can paralyze the whole Wavehaven Cybersecurity Bureau! I'll make you choke here!"
At that moment, there was a knock on the door!
Left Shoulder suddenly looked up!
'Am I busted? No way!'
His expression shifted quickly as he thought for a moment, then said, "Leave it at the door!"
