Chapter 79 Two Performances
The Wavehaven, Oceanview District, 7:30 PM.
Preparations for the largest outdoor concert in Wavehaven in nearly ten years were completed at the sprawling Dawnlight Plaza in the bustling center of Oceanview District.
The massive stage was nearly a thousand square feet, flanked by hundreds of square feet of LED screens, a top-notch matrix sound system, and countless varieties of dazzling stage lights.
The entire Wavehaven was empty because everyone had gathered here. Tens of thousands of people were in attendance, their roars filling the air in anticipation of Paul's concert. Rex and Ethan stood on one side of the stage, hearts filled with excitement and nervousness.
One kilometer away on Oceanview District's coastal road, it was unusually quiet. In stark contrast to the bustling Dawnlight Plaza, the road adjacent to the river mouth was deserted. Waves crashed gently, cool breezes blew, cicadas chirped, and lights flickered in the mist, giving the area a distinct coastal summer flavor.
Gary's free clinic, located on this old coastal road, was serene. In front of the three-story clinic, only a few dim street lamps were lit. Unlike usual, today, there was a small stage made of old wooden boxes. On the wall behind the stage, children had written a few words in chalk with their childish handwriting: [Thank you, Miss Brown!]
The wooden box stage, chalk drawing background, and streetlights created a modest yet heartfelt venue for the 'The FutureTech Group Charity Gala,' organized by Elbert and Lori. The audience consisted of just two people—Lori and Melissa, with two bodyguards standing in the distance.
As for Elbert, Lori had searched the entire clinic but couldn't find him, nor could she find the antique piano.
Lori forced a smile, looking at the edge of the stage where a few children with various disabilities were sitting. These children, disabled orphans taken in by Gary, were very happy today.
Each held a red flower, their most important day because they were about to perform on stage. Nervous and excited, a little boy with two missing front teeth grinned at Lori, "Sister, you have to clap later!"
Lori smiled kindly and nodded solemnly, "Of course!" The smiles of these children were the only thing that brought Lori comfort today. As for the relationship between Elbert and Paul, Lori didn't dare imagine or hope.
She slowly turned her head to look at Melissa, standing quietly to the side. Melissa, wearing a sleek, long black dress, her hair gently swaying in the breeze, looked like a goddess in the dark, stunningly beautiful.
Lori apologized, "Miss Clark, I'm very grateful for your presence, but today's event is a bit humble. Please forgive us."
"Your good deeds are admirable," Melissa gently shook her head. "But you are wrong about one thing."
Lori nodded slightly. "Please tell me, Miss Clark."
Melissa smoothed down her wind-blown hair. "Today's event is not humble. As long as Mr. Elbert is here, whether it's this old coastal building, the deep wilderness, or the desert, it will still be dazzling and splendid!"
Dazzling and splendid. Lori sighed lightly and looked into the distance. In the sky a kilometer away, countless laser lights were swinging and shining. The lively atmosphere and swirling colorful lights illuminated half the sky.
Lori thought, 'If you want to talk about dazzling, that must be it.'
While Lori was lost in thought, two timid figures slowly walked out from a distant alley.
"Mary, Susan, why are you here?" Lori exclaimed in surprise.
"Lori, it was so hard to find you!" the two little girls ran over and said in unison.
Mary grinned. "Yes, although we like Paul and really want to see him, compared to that commercialized concert, your event is more loving and kinder! So, we decided to come and support your gala! As for Paul, we can watch the video later!"
Seeing the determined expressions on her sisters' faces, Lori was instantly moved. "Thank you, my dear sisters!" Then, Lori tightly hugged the two little girls. After a long time, Lori took a deep breath. With an excited expression, she clapped her hands and said to the children, "Kids, get ready; the show is about to start!"
But the children all showed bright smiles and said, "No, let's wait for Elbert!"
At this moment, center stage at Dawnlight Plaza, exciting music played, and a stylish and handsome host ran on stage.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the live concert of the music god, Paul!" the host said. "Now it's June 19th, 8 PM sharp, let's welcome the music god, Paul!"
Hearing this, the screams grew even more frenzied! Several more people fainted! A burst of smoke erupted on stage! Then, a figure slowly rose from the center of the stage on a lift! A half-exposed back. A young man in a white shirt with a slender figure!
"Paul..."
"My music god, Paul..."
The audience went wild again, like zombies seeing fresh blood! Hands frantically reached forward, but they were firmly held back by security!
Finally, the figure fully appeared on stage. He held a microphone, smiled gently, and turned gracefully. A young man with a delicate face! The audience and media were in an uproar!
'So this is what Paul looks like! Delicate, spirited, handsome!' they thought to themselves.
They went even crazier! A soft accompaniment began.
It was that song that everyone was captivated by—"Imagine"!
The scene instantly quieted. The exciting moment had arrived! The 'Paul' on stage closed his eyes with emotion and slowly began to sing.
The singing continued.
"Wait, why does this voice sound off?" the crowd exclaimed.
