Chapter 401 Recovery

In the room, Elbert took the last sip of soup and stretched slightly. The pain throughout his body made his movements stiff.

Rachel pulled out a handkerchief and gently wiped the soup from the corner of his mouth. Elbert's face turned red instantly. How embarrassing! Who was he, Elbert, to spill soup while eating? If word got out, it would be humiliating! He had to recover quickly!

Rachel pursed her lips slightly. "Elbert, there's no need to feel embarrassed. Taking care of you is my master's order, and I have no choice."

"Yeah, Ms. Nguyen, don't worry. I'll cover the bill," Elbert nodded, completely missing Rachel's intentions.

Rachel hadn't expected such a response and shook her head with a smile.

Elbert placed his hands on the table and slowly stood up. His trembling arms caused the dishes on the table to clatter against each other. He wobbled like an old man nearing his grave. His eyes flickered as he gazed out the window. "It's time to recover!"

With that, Elbert quickly walked towards the door.

Rachel called out, "Elbert, you're seriously injured. You should rest!"

Elbert replied without turning back, "That's for ordinary people!"

Elbert knew well. The human body is incredibly complex, and theoretically, all injuries can heal through self-recovery! Skin and internal organs are repaired by platelets and white blood cells! Bone regeneration requires the promotion of osteoclasts! The normal approach is to rest and recuperate. But Elbert was determined to do the opposite!

First, he relied on his robust new human physique. Second, the body's repair mechanism is driven entirely by metabolism! What Elbert needed to do now was to accelerate his metabolism like crazy! There was only one way to do that: intense exercise and extreme exertion! With the 'Hell's Little Leather Armor' restraining him, it was hard for his bones to dislocate!

At dawn, Elbert slowly stepped out of the temple gate. The white-browed elder and four martial monks watched from a distance, observing this zombie-like figure.

"Master, is he trying to escape... leave?" one of the monks asked.

The white-browed elder's expression was complex. He sighed slightly. "Follow him. When he can't go on, bring him back."

"Understood."

Elbert fell, and everyone facepalmed. The next moment, Elbert stubbornly got up and continued walking.

In the blink of an eye, a day had passed! At dusk, Elbert, drenched in sweat, appeared at the temple gate. His body was slightly stiff, but he could walk without much trouble! The white-browed elder in the main hall nodded slightly as he watched through the window. Indeed, his willpower was extraordinary! Truly resilient!

Suddenly, the white-browed elder remembered something and quickly called the cook. "How much dinner did you prepare?"

The cook confidently replied, "Enough for one hundred and fifty people, Master. Don't worry, you won't go hungry!"

Thirty minutes later.

"Tonight, the entire temple will go hungry!"

This tragic announcement echoed throughout the temple, and no one slept that night.

At night, Elbert returned to his room and fell asleep immediately! Deep rest was the best time for the body to self-repair!

The next day, before the sun rose, a figure emerged from the room and headed into the deep mountains! The white-browed elder stood in his room, observing! He sighed leisurely. "Master, I now see firsthand that to become strong, talent, opportunity, and effort are all indispensable!"

Elbert walked through the pre-dawn mountains, his bones just barely mended, and his muscles still torn! If he didn't move, it was fine, but once he did, the pain was excruciating!

He tried to jog but found it extremely difficult!

"The strong must be self-reliant, push through!" Elbert kept reminding himself.

He looked up and saw a tall, dark silhouette towering in the distance—the highest mountain nearby. Yesterday, he only reached the foot of the mountain. Today, he aimed to climb at least 300 feet up.

As the sun set, Elbert returned again, drenched in sweat and utterly exhausted. Since sending his last message, Elbert hadn't charged his phone. But judging by the sunset, today's round trip saved him at least an hour compared to yesterday.

The white-browed elder saw this determined figure and nodded repeatedly. At that moment, the cook entered the room, carrying a meal. "Master, today I prepared food for two hundred people, but just in case, you should eat something first."

The elder stared at the food, hesitating for a long time. Finally, he sighed, "How can I eat before my elders? Let's eat with Elbert first."

Thirty minutes later, the cook's voice echoed again, "Tonight, the entire temple will go hungry!"

The white-browed elder fainted on the spot.

Two days later, Elbert set out before the rooster crowed and returned before sunset. Although the time hadn't shortened much, he had already climbed halfway up the majestic mountain. That day, Elbert returned half an hour earlier. He leaned against the temple gate, panting. Sweat soaked his shoes, wetting the ground beneath him. The pain from his injuries, the exhaustion, and the pressure from his clothes pushed Elbert to his limits every day.

Even the monks passing by clasped their hands together and chanted. This benefactor was nothing like the pampered city youths who cried out after a few steps on the mountain path. He was exactly what the scriptures described as 'a fierce fire, reborn from the ashes'—facing adversity, fighting with all his might, seizing any opportunity to turn the tide.

Elbert panted for a moment. He looked up slightly and saw smoke rising from behind the temple. These past few days, he had felt quite embarrassed. One slip-up and the entire temple went hungry. He was curious why the temple's kitchen had such a low output.

Elbert slowly walked to the back of the temple and suddenly discovered a massive stone mill. A regular stone mill was about the size of a car wheel, pulled by a donkey. But this one was at least the size of a room, with a diameter of at least 20 feet and over two people tall. A shirtless cook was slowly pushing this 'mountain' of a mill. The mill made a deep, solid sound, and white soy milk slowly flowed out from one side. The cook was making tofu. And this millstone must weigh thousands of pounds!

Elbert was amazed. No wonder the temple's food supply was scarce. The mill was huge but turned extremely slowly. It seemed this small mountain temple was not lax in any aspect. It truly had the air of hidden masters.

"What are you looking at?" The white-browed elder suddenly appeared, landing gently on top of the millstone. The cook pushing the mill immediately felt the increased pressure, struggling to move.

"This millstone isn't made of ordinary stone. It's made of white granite, one of the densest materials. No matter how much you look, you won't be able to move it!"

Elbert's eyes flickered, and after a moment of thought, he nodded slightly. "Excuse me, I'm going to eat."

"What?" The elder was stunned. "You're not following the script! I provoked you, you should be trying to push it! What's going on? Don't leave!"
