Chapter 134 Take Teresa to the hospital

"Yvonne, you should speak with evidence. Otherwise, sullying the reputation of the Garcias will do you no good," Mason cut her off, his voice firm and authoritative, "Hand over Teresa. Don’t make things ugly; after all, you should be setting a good example at your age."

"Mason, Teresa drugged my son, resulting in his hospitalization with severe injuries. I'm not just going to hand her over to you," Yvonne was defiant. If Teresa wasn't dealt with now, another opportunity might never come again.

"Is this what passes for law and order in your eyes, Yvonne? Then let me teach you a lesson about what law and order truly mean," Mason's expression darkened, his voice growing even more commanding.

As soon as Mason finished speaking, the head of River North signaled with a glance, and the police at his side immediately stepped forward, circling in on Yvonne from both sides.

"I haven't broken any laws; why are you arresting me?" Yvonne shouted as she struggled.

William looked on in genuine surprise as Yvonne lashed out. He couldn't have imagined that a lady of her standing could be so petty and malicious, ready to stoop to any low.

"Suspected of kidnapping and harming Mrs. Garcia, we need you to come with us," the seasoned officers declared, subduing Yvonne with professionalism. Handcuffs appeared in their hands, and in a swift motion, they clamped down on her wrists. Without wasting another word, they started leading her out.

"Bring all the parties involved back with us, and don't miss a single one," the head commanded, standing resolutely next to Mason.

Mason, along with the Garcias, had poured an immense amount of money and effort into the development of River North. Capital Construction and Nebula accounted for more than 30% of River North's annual revenue. Yvonne must have lost her mind to mess with the Garcias' family member.

"Yes, sir!" the group responded with vigor and began to mobilize.

"Mason, Teresa is nothing but a whore; if you don't kick her out of your family, she'll be the ruin of you one day..." Dragged away, Yvonne's pride was wounded, but in Mason's presence, she couldn't lash out with vulgarities. Calming herself, she turned back and hurled those cutting words at Mason.

"Hold up, where's Teresa being held?" Mason asked, seemingly ignoring Yvonne's outburst as the Evans family's butler was handcuffed and taken away. His cane stretched forward, blocking the path, his voice grave with inquiry.

"She's... she's upstairs, in the bathroom of the master bedroom," the trembling butler stuttered.

To torment Teresa, Yvonne had craftily commanded that she should be taken to her bathroom while she bathed. Soon after, William charged in, and Teresa was left in the bathroom, with no chance to be moved.

On hearing the location, William's deep gaze darkened and he bolted upstairs.

"Take two men and go check it out," Mason ordered, not about to let things slide as William took off. He gestured to his butler to follow through.

"Yes, Master," the butler promptly concurred and led two men to follow William.

William ascended the staircase in a single breath, intuitively pinpointing the master bedroom, and without a moment's hesitation, he bolted toward the door.

Standing before the solid wood door of the master room, William lifted his foot and kicked the door open, surging inside.

Startled by the crash, two housekeepers standing guard in the bathroom dashed out to see what had happened.

The moment they burst in, William charged towards the bathroom. His eyes instantly captured the distressing sight of Teresa lying on the floor, drenched, unconscious, with a swollen, bruised face and blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. Rage engulfed William. Without a second thought, he lashed out at the two petrified housekeepers, sending them screaming and sprawling onto the floor.

"Teresa!"

In swift strides, William scooped Teresa into his arms, gently tapping her swollen cheek, but she showed no sign of waking. Without hesitation, he strode out with her in his arms.

"What on earth..." The butler arrived with backup, startled into speechlessness by the sight of Teresa in William's embrace.

"She's passed out; we need to get her to the hospital now," William said to the butler with a glance, his pace hastening toward the stairs as he spoke.

"Right behind you!" The butler nodded, hurrying after him with his men.

When William descended the stairs with Teresa, Mason was stricken by the sight of her battered and unconscious face. Compassion flooded his features, sorrow etched in every line. He slammed his cane on the floor, his voice thundering, "Yvonne has gone too far. This is plain for all to see."

"Yes, Mason. Please, calm down. We'll look into this and deal with Yvonne severely," the head assured, his brow furrowed deeply at the sight of Teresa's condition.

"Mason, I'm taking Teresa to the hospital now," William said.

"Do it, and quickly."

"Clear the way for William," the head commanded his underlings.

"Got it." They immediately gestured to William, then escorted him out with urgency.

With a patrol car leading, the path was clear, and in barely ten minutes, they reached the hospital. Teresa was rushed to the emergency room.

The muffled sound of the emergency room doors sealing shut was quickly followed by the vibrating buzz of William's phone. Taking a deep breath, he pulled it out to see Gabriel's name on the screen.

"Gabriel," William answered, initiating the conversation as he picked up.

"Where's Teresa?" Gabriel, having just boarded his flight, had tried calling Teresa first, only to find her phone still unreachable.
"She's okay now, don't worry," William said with an unusual flatness in his voice.

In William's mind, the humiliation Teresa suffered today was due to the Bennetts, and him as the elder brother, failing to protect her. The Garcias and Gabriel were hardly to blame.

Because to William, even though Teresa had married into the Garcias, she was still first and foremost a Bennett, only becoming a Garcia there after.

On the other end of the phone, Gabriel leaned back in his chair. Upon hearing from William that Teresa was alright, he simply acknowledged with an "Okay," then hung up.

With eyes closed, Gabriel's brow quivered slightly, his emotions a tangled, complex mess for the first time. He wondered if he had erred in rushing to marry Teresa.

“Teresa, if you still only love Liam to this day, if you wish to leave me to be with him, I'll set you free.”
