Chapter 605 A Woman Longing to be Loved
"William, is it really over between you and Hayden? Are you not going to care about Chloe and Logan either?"
On her way back to the Garcia family residence from the hospital, Teresa called William, asking him one last time.
"What happened?" William on the other end of the phone didn't answer her question, just furrowed his brows and asked.
Teresa, frustrated by his response, retorted, "Hayden is planning to marry Jasper."
Of course, William knew who Teresa was referring to as 'Jasper.'
When Maxwell made him promise never to be with Hayden again, the intention was to push Jasper and Hayden together.
Now, Jasper and Hayden had finally come together.
With a faint smile, William slightly curled his lips, feeling a mix of emotions. After two seconds of silence, he sincerely said, "Congratulations to them."
"William, you..." Teresa was so angry she could barely speak, but then she sighed and changed her tone, "Fine, follow your heart. Just make sure you don't regret it."
With that, Teresa hung up the phone directly.
On the other end of the phone, William heard the sound of the call being disconnected. The next moment, he closed his eyes and slumped weakly against the back of the chair.
He did indeed want to congratulate Jasper and Hayden, at least Jasper was sincerely in love with Hayden.
That evening, Jasper invited William out for drinks and told him about his decision to marry Hayden.
Jasper observed William's lack of reaction, noting his cold smile and simple "congratulations." Jasper frowned and placed a hand on William's shoulder, asking again, "Are you really set on marrying Michelle and giving up any chance with Hayden?"
William finished his glass of whiskey, then smiled and remained silent.
"Why?" Jasper couldn't help ask again, "Don't forget, I have had a sexual relationship with Michelle. Doesn't that bother you?"
William laughed, poured himself another drink, and replied coldly, "Chloe and Logan are still my children, and you don't seem to mind."
"Of course, I mind," Jasper said with a deep sigh, then drank up the wine in the cup. "I have no choice."
He had loved Hayden since they were kids, and he couldn't bear to see her in pain any longer.
That night, both William and Jasper got drunk.
Jasper's people took him back to the hotel, while William's driver and bodyguard escorted him back to his apartment.
Michelle had been waiting for William to return to his apartment.
She had moved in a week ago, but despite being "cohabitants," their relationship was purely platonic. She was just taking care of him, and they slept in separate rooms.
Around one in the morning, hearing a light sound of the apartment door being pushed open from outside, Michelle immediately got up and ran toward the entrance.
"William!" Running to the entrance, she saw the bodyguard helping William in. Michelle couldn't help but be stunned.
"Michelle." Seeing her, the bodyguard politely greeted her.
"What happened to William?" Michelle hurried over to support William.
"William had too much to drink," the bodyguard explained concisely, then helped William to the bedroom.
Michelle helped the bodyguard support William into the bedroom.
After helping William onto the bed and making him comfortable, the bodyguard left immediately.
"William." Michelle climbed onto the bed, gently stroked his handsome face, and called his name softly.
However, William didn't move at all, nor did he respond.
He seemed to be deeply intoxicated and unconscious.
Michelle's eyes flashed with a cunning light.
"William." Gently patting William's cheek, Michelle called out to him softly once again.
But William still showed no response.
Seeing him so still, Michelle began to remove his tie, saying, "William, you won't be comfortable sleeping like this. Let me help you get undressed."
After loosening William's tie, Michelle proceeded to remove his shoes and set them aside.
Seeing him still deeply asleep, Michelle leaned over again to take off William's suit jacket.
William lay on the bed, allowing her to handle him.
After taking off his suit jacket, Michelle looked at his handsome and gentle face under the light, and she couldn't help but reach out to unbutton his shirt.
However, at that moment, William let out a muffled groan, turned over, showing his back to her, and then remained still.
Michelle watched him, and just as he turned over, his phone slipped out of his pants pocket and fell onto the bed.
"William." Glancing at his phone that had fallen on the bed, Michelle gently shook his arm.
But William still showed no response.
Smelling the strong scent of alcohol on him, an idea flashed through Michelle's mind.
Since the idea had come to her, she immediately acted on it.
She took William's phone, carefully held his right hand, placed his right thumb on the phone's HOME button, and the screen lit up as the phone unlocked.
"William, you have several missed calls." She noted the missed calls while speaking to him, but William remained unresponsive.
Michelle finally confirmed that he was truly deeply intoxicated and unconscious. So, feeling assured, she called Hayden.
The phone was answered immediately.
"What are you doing?" However, at this moment, a familiar voice as if thunder suddenly exploded in Michelle's ear.
Startled, Michelle shuddered all over, raised her head to look at William beside her. At the same time, the phone slipped from her hand and fell onto the bed.
Michelle muttered, "William."
William sat up on the bed, glanced at the panicked Michelle, then looked at his phone that had fallen on the bed. When he saw the string of numbers displayed on it, he immediately grabbed the phone and hung up the call at the fastest speed.
Michelle looked at him, her face was turning deathly pale.
She never imagined that William had been pretending to be drunk. He looked completely sober now, with no sign of intoxication.
After hanging up the call, William closed his eyes and rubbed his tired forehead. When he opened his eyes again, his deep gaze was very clear.
"Speak, what were you trying to do by calling Hayden at this hour?" Looking at Michelle beside him, William asked calmly.
"William, I..."Michelle looked at William, his gaze was like a net that left her with no escape.
At this moment, even if she was usually clever and quick-witted, she couldn't come up with a suitable excuse.
"What did you promise me?" Before Michelle could speak, William pressed his forehead again, his voice slightly hoarse.
"William, what did I promise you? Do you think I wouldn't know?" Since her true intentions were exposed and she couldn't find any reasonable excuses, Michelle simply chose not to explain.
Looking at William, her eyes filled with tears, she spoke with pain and grievance, "I'm a woman who longs to be accepted and loved by you. Do you think I wanted to risk being despised by you just to irritate Hayden? It's all because you pushed me to this."
