Chapter 616 Reuniting with William

The next day after breakfast, Jasper headed over to the Bush family's residence intending to discuss with Hayden about their wedding plans. Deep down, Jasper knew that this wedding with Hayden was merely a show for everyone to see.

However, as a man, he felt compelled to take the initiative. After all, Hayden had just given birth recently and theoretically needed to rest, not run around. Plus, she had two children to care for.

To his surprise, when he arrived at the Bush family home, Hayden was not there. He asked the butler where she had gone, but the butler replied that Hayden hadn't mentioned her destination or when she would return.

"Are the children at home?" Jasper inquired.

"Chloe and Logan are here," the butler nodded and replied respectfully.

"Then take me to see them," Jasper requested.

"Okay, Jasper, please follow me," the butler said, leading the way.

Jasper nodded and followed the butler into the main building. Inside, to his utter astonishment, he saw Jocelyn kneeling beside a table in the grand hall, earnestly wiping it down with a cloth. Two older maids stood nearby, seemingly keeping watch over her.

What was going on?

"Jasper." Jocelyn lowered her head and, with a disheartened expression, called his name.

Jasper smiled and walked over, squatting down in front of Jocelyn. He gently lifted her chin with his long fingers, looked into her eyes, and said with a kind smile, "What's this? Are you trying to reform through labor? What did you do wrong? Tell me."

Jocelyn looked at him without speaking. Yet, she couldn't help but feel that Jasper had become more manly. His slightly smirking expression was particularly charming.

"Not talking, huh? Let me guess then," Jasper continued, squinting his charming eyes. "Did you upset your dad or your sister?"

Jocelyn nodded obediently. With a pitiful look, she pleaded, "Jasper, could you speak to my sister on my behalf? Tell her I'll behave and never make mistakes again."

After witnessing Hayden's fury last night, Jocelyn had spent the whole night reflecting. She had realized it wasn't worth it to ruin their sisterly bond over someone like Gabriel, who didn't love her at all and treated her like she didn't matter.

She decided to turn over a new leaf and be a better person. So, early that morning, she obediently started working without slacking off.

Jasper, looking amused, raised an eyebrow and asked, "What exactly did you do wrong? I need to know so I can help you, right?"

Tears swiftly welled up in Jocelyn's eyes as she pouted sadly.

Seeing her about to cry, Jasper frowned. "Your sister hit you, didn't she? She must be quite strong."

"Jasper, will you help me or not?" Jocelyn's tears started to fall.

Moved by her pitiful state, Jasper nodded immediately. "Don't cry, I will help you."

He reached out and wiped Jocelyn's tears. "You should focus on reforming yourself and doing more work. It's good for you. When your sister is in a better mood, I'll speak to her for you."

With that, Jasper stood up and followed the butler to the sterile room on the first floor.

Jocelyn turned her head to watch his tall figure as he walked away. She silently pursed her lips, recalling his gentle demeanor when he wiped her tears just now. A faint smile tugged at her lips.

Compared to Gabriel's harshness toward her, Jasper was already much better.

In the sterile room, doctors and nurses were attending to the children who had just woken up, their innocent eyes exploring everything around them. They had grown rapidly; once so tiny they fit into Jasper's palm, they were now plump and rosy-cheeked.

Jasper, enjoying himself, played with the children for a while.

However, Hayden actually agreed to let the two children have the surname Hart. Was it appropriate for William's son and daughter to have the same surname as him?

Wouldn't it be better for them to have the surname Bush, along with Hayden, so that he felt more at ease?

After leaving the sterile room, Jasper noticed Jocelyn was no longer downstairs and decided to leave.

Outside, he suddenly felt a craving for a cigarette. Since he wasn't in a hurry, Jasper leaned against his car and lit a cigarette.

In the small living room on the second floor, Jocelyn was standing by the window, lost in thought. Unintentionally, she glanced out and caught sight of Jasper smoking below, leaning casually against the car door.

Honestly, he looked quite handsome with his eyes narrowed and cigarette in hand. Cool and attractive. If a young girl were just starting to fall in love, she'd surely fall for him at first sight.

"Jocelyn, get moving. There's still plenty of work to do. If Hayden comes back and sees you haven't finished, you'll go hungry," one of the maids supervising her kindly reminded.

"Oh, okay." Jocelyn obediently responded and continued with her tasks.

In the Department of Foreign Languages at Midwest State University, River North, Teresa had just returned to her office after a class when her phone rang. To her surprise, it was Hayden.

Teresa had just returned from the Imperial Capital the day before, and now Hayden was calling her again. Was something wrong?

Teresa quickly answered the call.

"Teresa, I need a favor," Hayden said directly as soon as the call connected.

Teresa was surprised. "Hayden, what do you need help with? Just tell me."

"Please you arrange a meeting with your brother. I need to see him," Hayden requested without hesitation.

Teresa was even more surprised. "Hayden, are you in River North?"

"Yes, I just got off the plane." Early that morning, Hayden had sneaked away with Melissa and her bodyguards to River North.

"Alright, I'll let you know once I've arranged it," Teresa agreed without hesitation.

After a few more words, they hung up. Teresa came up with a perfect excuse and then called William, inviting him to lunch.

Around noon, Hayden stood in front of a window in a VIP room on the third floor of the Teresa Building, quietly looking outside. She hadn't slept all night last night. In the end, she couldn't resist and came to River North.

Not for anything else, she just wanted to make it clear why William was unwilling to reconcile with her. Was it because of Jocelyn's threat?

If not because of that, then what was it?

About twenty minutes later, William's car came into view. As it parked in front of the Teresa Building. William and Teresa stepped out. Hayden felt a complicated emotion.

If William said he wouldn't reconcile with her due to Jocelyn's threats and instead chose to be with Michelle, what should she do? Should she tell Jasper she wouldn't marry him because she wanted to be with William?

Could she be so shameless? Jasper was also a dignified man. He had helped her, but if she toyed with him, it wouldn't be fair to him, no matter who she was in front of.

Lost in thought, the room's door suddenly creaked open. She quickly turned and locked eyes with William's deep, unreadable gaze.
