Chapter 535 William and Hayden

Pierre's voice came from the phone, and Hayden listened with a hint of surprise in her eyes. "You only care about the child but not about me," she said.

Immediately after, Sophia's voice, full of coquetry, filled the air. Hayden listened, her brows furrowing. Indeed, the relationship between Sophia and Pierre was more than just siblings.

"Don't talk nonsense. I do care about you. Just look at how rosy your face is. I find myself liking you more and more," Pierre replied.

"It's only been three months, don't get ahead of yourself," Sophia retorted.

Hayden listened and could guess what Pierre was doing while saying these words.

"It's been almost two months, and I can't bear it anymore," Pierre expressed.

"No, I'm considered an older mother now. If something happens to my child, I can't bear to lose another one," Sophia replied.

An older mother. A woman who is pregnant and gives birth at the age of 35 or above is considered an older mother. According to Sophia's ID, she was only 33 years old. So, Sophia had indeed tampered with her age.

"I must avenge Nikolai. Once Hayden enters the Johnson family, I will torment her to death," Pierre said fiercely, causing Hayden to tremble involuntarily.

Originally, Pierre had insisted that she marry Hall, not only to control everything in the Bush Smith family but also to avenge Nikolai and torment Hayden. The people of the Johnson family were like demons or even more terrifying.

"That woman is very good at seduction. I'm afraid Hall won't agree when the time comes," Pierre expressed his concern.

"My family listens to me. He must agree," Sophia assured.

"Then you have to make sure Hall does his best and deals with Hayden soon," Pierre advised.

"What about Finn? Is he still unwilling to make a will?"

A will. Hayden didn't know what Pierre and Sophia were up to.

"Although Finn seems to dote on me on the surface, he is actually wary of me. I've tested him. He says he's still young and doesn't need a will, but I don't know if he has one or not. I've talked to his lawyer, but his lawyer won't tell me anything," Sophia explained.

"What medicine? Who are they planning to give it to?" Hayden frowned.

"Not yet! Because we haven't gained control over Hayden. If something happens to Finn, half of the Bush Smith family's assets will be divided between those two wretches," Sophia revealed.

Hayden's eyes dilated in sheer terror upon learning of Pierre and Sophia's nefarious scheme to poison Finn and end his life.

"Sophia, surely you can't be so callous as to contemplate Finn's murder?" Hayden's voice quivered with disbelief.

"How could I ever entertain such a thought?" Sophia's retort was laced with sorrow. "You were my savior. I wouldn't be here now if you had not been there for me then. In my heart, there's only room for you. How can you even suggest such a thing?" Her voice broke, heavy with emotion.

"Forgive me, I misspoke. Let's put this behind us," Pierre offered his words, a balm meant to soothe the sting of the accusation.

"Just remember not to harm your son," Sophia's reminder was gentle yet firm.

‘Your son.’ The words echoed in Hayden's mind. ‘Pierre's son. Could it be that Sophia was pregnant with Pierre's child?’ The realization rooted Hayden to the spot, her mind reeling once again.

"Don't worry, I won't go too far," Pierre assured.

"You're so annoying."

Next, the earphones transmitted some shy voices. Hayden couldn't help but tremble as she held the phone.

Sophia, Pierre! These two lunatics! Hayden took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. After sitting at her desk for five or six minutes, she finally stood up, tightly gripping her phone, and left the office, heading toward the elevator. She was going to Finn's office.

With this recording, if Finn still insisted on believing Sophia, then Hayden would no longer consider Finn her father. As Finn's daughter, Hayden naturally wouldn't encounter any obstacles on her way to Finn's office.

When she arrived at Finn's office, he was in the middle of a discussion with Finley. Not wanting to wait a minute longer, Hayden knocked on the door. "Dad."

"Ms. Hayden," Finley greeted her with a smile as soon as he saw her.

"What's the matter?" Finn asked, a bit displeased at the interruption.

"Dad, I have something important to discuss with you in private," Hayden said, trying to remain calm.

After all, Hayden was his biological daughter, and she was now working in the company. Finn didn't want his employees to know that he was unwilling to see his own daughter. So, Finn hesitated for a moment, then gestured to Finley. "You can leave."

"Alright." Finley nodded respectfully and left. As he passed by Hayden, he nodded and smiled at her. Hayden returned the polite smile and then walked up to Finn.

"What's the matter? Speak up!" Finn said in a deep voice, looking at Hayden.

"It's about Hall and me, something very important," Hayden said, fabricating a lie to ensure that Sophia wasn't monitoring Finn's office, just like she had installed a bug in Pierre's office.

"What's going on between you and Hall? Tell me," Finn said, growing impatient.

"Dad, I can't discuss this matter in your office. Can we go to the coffee shop across the street?" Hayden requested.

Finn's expression turned gloomy as he looked at her. "There's no one else here. Why can't you talk about it?"

"Dad, please, can we go?" Hayden pleaded for the first time.

Finn looked at her and thought about how she had even been willing to end her five-month-old child's life. She had never compromised with him before, but now she was begging him so humbly. He felt that she must have something important to say.

After a few seconds of silence, he nodded and said, "I'll give you thirty minutes."

Hayden breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Thank you, Dad. Thirty minutes is enough."

"Let's go." Finn stood up, and they both walked out together.

Apart from their bodyguard, Finn didn't bring anyone else. When they arrived at the coffee shop across the office building, the bodyguard stood outside and didn't come in.

It was quiet in the coffee shop at eleven in the morning, with few people around. Hayden found the quietest corner and didn't order anything. Only after Finn sat down did she speak, "Dad, last night Hall kept me at the hotel and tried to drug me, but he didn't succeed."

"You brought me here just to tell me this?" Finn's expression immediately turned gloomy again.

Seeing Finn's reaction, Hayden smiled, feeling immensely disappointed. But that didn't matter. Would she still care about that now?

"Of course not," Hayden shook her head and continued, "There's something I need to confess to you."

"What is it?" Finn asked, displeased.

"On the day I was discharged from the hospital, I went to the Johnson villa and managed to install a bug under Pierre's desk in his study," Hayden said calmly.

"You installed a bug in Pierre's study?" Finn was taken aback and asked, "What are you trying to do?"

Looking at Finn, Hayden continued calmly, "Dad, I had someone investigate. The housekeeper at the Johnson villa said that every time Sophia returns to the villa, she spends a long time in Pierre's study. And no one is allowed near the study except for the trusted butler, not even Pierre's Sienna."

As Finn listened, his brow knitted together tighter with each word. The pieces didn't fit; something was amiss. After all, Finn was no naïve youth; at fifty, he was seasoned enough to recognize when a situation didn't add up.

"After having breakfast today, did Sophia go back to the Johnson villa again?" Hayden asked as she noticed Finn's frown.

Finn looked at her, frowned, and remained silent, which was a tacit approval. Sophia had told him earlier that she was going back to the Johnson villa. He had never stopped her from going, but when he was at home, Sophia didn't go back to the villa very often.

"Dad, why don't you call Sophia now and see if she's still at the Johnson villa? Is it convenient for her to answer your call?" Hayden suggested.

Finn hesitated for a moment and then took out his phone to call Sophia. Hayden watched as his expression became increasingly gloomy, knowing that Sophia probably didn't answer his call.

Indeed, no one answered the call, and it eventually hung up on its own.

"Dad, do you want to ask someone else to find out what Sophia is doing now?" Hayden asked calmly, seeing Finn put away his phone with a deeply troubled expression.

"Finn, what else do you want to say?" Finn asked, his whole body trembling uncontrollably. He might have fainted from anger if he hadn't been only fifty-one and in good health.

Hayden said directly, "Dad, I think you should have a fertility test."

Finn clenched his fist on the table, his expression extremely gloomy, the veins on his forehead bulging. He roared in anger, "How dare Sophia play me like this! How dare she!"

Hayden looked at him. His low growl, though not loud, was incredibly penetrating, as if it came from hell. His voice was full of anger, hatred, and ferocity.

"Dad, calm down!" Seeing Finn suddenly stand up and prepare to storm out, Hayden quickly stood up and blocked his way.

"Calm down? How can I calm down?" Finn roared, immediately attracting the attention of several customers in the coffee shop.

"Dad, this is just an audio recording. Don't you want real evidence?" Hayden lowered her voice, glancing around.

Seeing Finn's silence, Hayden continued, "Although the child hasn't been born yet, we can still do a DNA paternity test. By using amniocentesis, we can obtain a DNA sample from the fetus for the test, and we can get the results in as fast as three hours."

Watching Hayden, Finn gradually calmed down. Indeed, regardless of whether the audio recording was real or not, a paternity test using Sophia's unborn child's DNA sample would reveal the truth.

"Dad, please, you must do the paternity test. If the child in Sophia's womb is really my brother, I will never doubt Sophia again and will definitely listen to you," Hayden pleaded again as Finn remained silent.

"I will do the paternity test. I have to," Finn said through gritted teeth.

"Dad, I'm afraid that Sophia has bribed everyone around you, so you must have someone you can trust to handle this," Hayden said, feeling slightly relieved at Finn's words, but she still couldn't relax.

Finn looked at her and nodded. "I will make arrangements."

With that, Finn walked past Hayden and left quickly. Watching his retreating figure, Hayden heaved a deep sigh and hurried to catch up.
