Chapter 283 Loyalty and Luxury
"Liam, you're lucky to have Diana as a secretary. She seems very capable," Faith said to Liam, her smile warm and affectionate. Then she turned to the others, "Since we all know each other, let's go together."
"It's Liam and Faith's date. We shouldn't intrude, maybe some other time," Teresa declined directly.
"All right, next time, Teresa, don't pass up the offer," Faith said brightly, nodding in agreement.
"Of course, I'll host next time." With that, Teresa turned to Diana, "Let's go, Diana."
Diana nodded, took one last glance at Liam and Faith, and exited with Teresa, heading up to the third floor.
"Teresa, do you know her?" Once inside the private room, Diana couldn't suppress her curiosity.
"Yep," Teresa nodded, taking a sip of her freshly squeezed juice. "She's the only daughter of the Coppola family from W City, named Faith."
"The Coppola family of W City?"
The Coppola family from Wellington was well-known for their fortune made from the glass industry, earning the title of "Glass Tycoons." Diana was, of course, aware of them.
"Yep, that's right." Teresa nodded, not adding much more.
Listening to her, Diana couldn't help but smile faintly, "Those two are quite the match."
Whether in looks or family background, they were remarkably well-suited.
"Diana, are you okay?" Assuming Diana still hadn't gotten over Liam, Teresa was a bit worried.
Diana looked up at her, shook her head, and said, "Why wouldn't I be? Now, the only feeling I have for him is the respect one has for a boss. Everything else is in the past."
"Really?"
Diana laughed. "Of course, Mrs. Garcia."
Seeing her friend's breezy smile, Teresa felt a sense of relief. She smiled playfully and mused, "You know, I can see your prince charming galloping toward you on his majestic steed."
"Really?" Diana laughed heartily, lifted her juice, and clinked her glass against Teresa's, "Then I'm all in for your prophecy coming true."
Teresa nodded with a laugh, and the two enjoyed their meal with lively conversation.
When they finished and left the place, to their surprise, Liam and Faith had also finished their meal and were about to leave. The four of them bumped into each other again.
"Diana, you drive."
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Liam handed over his car keys to Diana, instructing her tersely.
Driving Liam's car was a first for Diana. Hesitating briefly, she nonetheless took the keys and nodded in agreement. After saying goodbye to Teresa, she walked over to Liam's Bentley. She opened the driver's side door and slid into the seat.
Liam, meanwhile, held open the rear door for Faith. After she settled in, he circled to the other side, opened the door, and got into the backseat before instructing Diana to drive to a certain hotel.
Diana responded with a "Yes" and started the car.
Driving Liam's car for the first time, she was a bit nervous. Carefully concentrating on the road, all her attention was on driving flawlessly, and fortunately, there were no mishaps.
In the backseat, Liam and Faith were laughing and talking, a side quite unlike the typically reserved and laconic CEO, Liam. His cheerful laughter echoed in the car now and then.
Listening to them, Diana realized deeply that no matter how hard she tried, she would never be with Liam. They simply were not from the same world.
After about half an hour of cautious driving, Diana pulled up in front of the hotel lobby and stopped.
"Diana, it was a pleasure meeting you today. See you next time!" Faith didn't forget to politely address Diana after getting out of the car.
"I feel the same way," Diana replied with a polite smile, "See you next time, Faith."
"Park the car over there and wait for me," Liam instructed Diana coolly without waiting for her response and immediately escorted Faith into the hotel lobby.
Diana watched their well-matched figures vanish behind the hotel's revolving doors before moving the car to a nearby temporary parking space.
Diana had thought it would take at least half an hour, but surprisingly, in less than ten minutes, Liam was back.
He pulled open the rear car door, slid in, and immediately leaned back, closing his eyes to rest, the picture of aloofness and reserve.
"Liam, are we heading back to the office now?" Diana asked, looking back at him.
"Uh-huh," he replied indifferently.
"Okay," Diana said and then started the car.
"Diana, thank you." It was then that his deep voice came from the back seat again.
Startled, Diana turned to look at him with confusion.
Slowly opening his eyes, Liam met her gaze and lifted the corners of his mouth slightly, "Thank you for still being willing to stay by my side. For not leaving."
"Liam, I'm a realist. If I left, finding a job with better conditions than this would be tough," Diana answered candidly.
"Your year-end bonus: I'll have finance double it," Liam offered generously.
"Thanks," Diana said, not one to refuse what she deserved.
"Regarding Lauren..." Liam started, then hesitated.
Diana smiled, "Don't worry, Liam. I'll stick to my job and nothing more. I won't pry."
"Good, let's head back to the office."
"Yes, Liam."
