Chapter 631 Bring Dad Back

At night, in Washington D.C., the Kennedy family mansion.
After ending the video call with Sarah, for a long time, John's heart couldn't calm down.
In the video call, Sarah told him all the truths, also revealing that Kennedy and Monroe had divorced, and further disclosed that Kennedy had given Monroe 3% of the shares as a thank you to the Adams family and compensation to Monroe.

Now, he finally understood clearly why Kennedy had chosen Monroe. He also realized more why Kennedy was so upset that day at the White House when he mocked Monroe's parents.
Monroe was indeed despicable, but he never expected that she had such kind and selfless parents.
He also never expected that in the end, Monroe would be willing to call off the engagement with Kennedy.

As a result, in the end, both he and Kennedy were single again. Was it as if fate was pitying them, favoring them, thinking they should be together, hence allowing things to develop to what it is today, a situation neither of them could have foreseen?

Yes, that must be it, it has to be.

Looking at the two little ones sleeping soundly beside him, John reached out his hands, holding Chloe and Logan's hands, and smiled gently, "Chloe, Logan, do you also want to live with Dad?"

With that, John chuckled slightly and said, "Alright, Mom will shamelessly try harder to win Dad back, okay?"

The next morning, Kennedy, Robert, and Emma flew together on the Adams family's private jet to visit the Monroe family.

Monroe's parents, Alexander Monroe and Mary Johnson, learned about Monroe calling off the engagement with Kennedy. Although they regretted losing such an outstanding future son-in-law, they didn't say anything, let alone blame Monroe.

Over this period, Alexander and Mary had long realized that Kennedy didn't like Monroe, didn't care much about her, and after the engagement, Monroe visibly lost weight.
Monroe wasn't happy with Kennedy.

She was their only daughter, and they would rather see Monroe marry someone who loves her, live happily ever after, than see Monroe suffer for marrying into a wealthy family.
However, upon learning that Kennedy had transferred 3% of the shares from the Adams to Monroe as compensation, Alexander immediately got angry, slamming the table and ordering Monroe to return those 3% of shares to Kennedy.

Though they weren't extremely wealthy, they had never worried about money in their lives. For Monroe to receive 3% of the shares from the Adams, it was like receiving a large sum of money from the Adams family, what was going on?
If outsiders knew, they would surely have harsh words to say. The Johnson family couldn't afford such disgrace.

Originally, they planned to go with Monroe in a couple of days to the Adams family in River North to clarify things and return the shares, but they didn't expect the Adams family to come in person, specifically to thank them for saving Kennedy years ago.

Alexander and Mary were both doctors, saving countless lives over the years. Saving Kennedy back then was a small matter to them, so they never mentioned a word to Robert and Emma.
But they never expected that they would now come to thank them for this matter and adamantly refuse to take back the 3% of shares.

Robert said that if they took back these 3% of shares, the Adams family would feel guilty.
Indeed, after Kennedy and Monroe got engaged, they didn't treat Monroe well. Now, if they took back these 3% of shares, wouldn't the Adams family be seen as petty?
Since Robert and Emma were resolute in not taking back the shares, Alexander and Mary had no choice but to give up.

The next day, Monroe and the Adams family returned to River North. The day after tomorrow, Kennedy and Monroe announced together that due to their incompatible personalities, they were canceling their engagement, but in the future, they would still love each other like family.

John, at the Smith Group headquarters in New York City, as the head of the largest mainstream media in the country, upon the news of Kennedy and Monroe calling off the engagement being released, someone would naturally inform her immediately.
Although she had already learned from Sarah about Kennedy and Monroe calling off the engagement, seeing the official announcement was a different feeling.
Especially when she saw that they both wrote that they would continue to love each other like family in the future, John couldn't describe the feeling in her heart.

Just as John was staring blankly at the computer screen at the announcement of Kennedy and Monroe's canceled engagement, her phone on the desk kept vibrating.
Glancing at it, it was a landline number from River North, the Adams Group's office number.
Was it Kennedy calling from the Adams Group's office number?

She took a deep breath and, feeling a slight flutter, picked up the phone after it had vibrated seven or eight times.
"It's me, Monroe." As soon as the call connected, Monroe's calm voice came through.

Upon hearing it was Monroe, John wasn't disappointed, nor did she show any signs of anger.
After all, she now knew that Monroe's family had saved Kennedy's life.

"Why did you call me, is there something you need?" John asked gently, extremely calm.

"Originally, I called off the engagement with Kennedy because you were marrying Jasper, but I didn't expect to be played in the end, not getting married myself but getting my sister married instead." On the other end of the phone, Monroe chuckled ambiguously.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you," John's voice remained calm and steady, devoid of any emotion.

On the other end of the phone, Monroe chuckled ambiguously again, "I'm not disappointed because I have truly given up on Kennedy."

"Is that so?" John was surprised by Monroe's words, "Why are you telling me this?"
"For peace of mind, after all, in the future, Kennedy and I will still love each other like family!" Monroe said gently with a smile.

John also smiled gently, "Do you have anything else you want to tell me?"

"Well, since we've started, why not say it all." Monroe began to speak openly, "On Jasper's birthday night at Lumina Falls, I actually drugged both you and Jasper. I originally wanted you and Jasper to make love, then have Kennedy rush back to see the show live."

As she spoke, Monroe chuckled slyly, "Unfortunately, plans change. When Kennedy rushed back, although he saw you and Jasper lying naked on a bed, he didn't believe that anything had happened between you two. Later, because of this incident, he arranged for people to attack me, leaving me lying in a hospital bed for half a month."

Listening to Monroe's words, John finally understood why Monroe was attacked and seriously injured, and hospitalized by a group of unidentified people at Lumina Falls, why Kennedy would tell her that Monroe was not worth dating when she went to see Monroe.

But Kennedy and Jasper had never mentioned this to her, and Kennedy had never shown any concern. So even though he saw her and Jasper lying naked on a bed, Kennedy believed her, believed she hadn't betrayed him, so there was no resentment in his heart.

"Monroe, why are you telling me all this now?" After a moment of silence, unable to contain herself, John suddenly asked with red eyes.

"What do you think I want to do?" Monroe suddenly laughed heartily, "Just want you to know that you missed out on a man who loved you and trusted you so much."
