Chapter 503 The Story of William and Hayden (104)
The day after tomorrow, Hayden went to the airport to go to River North with Maddox.
She didn't have breakfast at home because she left early. When she arrived at the airport, she felt extremely hungry. She immediately bought breakfast to appease the baby in her stomach.
The medicine Isabella had given her was quite effective. She hadn't had any morning sickness symptoms in the past month, except in the morning when she brushed her teeth.
She stopped taking the medicine because her morning sickness was now rare.
As the days passed, although she was very busy every day, she could clearly feel the growth of the little life inside her belly.
Now, the baby in her belly was over two months old. In another two months, her belly would start to show signs of pregnancy.
She had to find a way to go abroad within two months.
She could try to beg Finn to let her continue her studies in Southern, but this was unlikely.
Her outstanding job performance would qualify her to apply for business training abroad under the Smith Group's international investment project.
Compared to the first option, the second option was much more likely.
So, Hayden was working hard to make the second option happen.
When the time came, she would find another way to give birth to the child after going abroad.
"I never thought you’d eat fast food, Hayden" Maddox said when Hayden arrived. He was already at the VIP lounge waiting for their flight. Maddox smiled when he saw Hayden walk into the lounge with a hamburger in her hand.
Hayden took another big bite of her hamburger and sat down next to Maddox, eating contentedly. "It tastes pretty good," she said.
Maddox chuckled and glanced at her shoes. "I noticed you rarely wear high heels, which seems a bit out of character for you."
"Yeah!" Hayden smiled, swallowing her food and sipping hot milk. "These shoes are comfortable, and I like them."
"When you first joined the company, you used to wear makeup, but you rarely do now." Maddox chuckled again.
"Maybe I've become lazy," Hayden said playfully, "Are you saying I’m not pretty without makeup?"
"You're beautiful, much more so than many women who wear makeup." Maddox genuinely laughed.
Hayden laughed. "You know how to flatter me, Maddox."
"I'm just telling the truth." Maddox laughed heartily.
If he didn't already have a girlfriend, he would definitely pursue Hayden.
"Would you like something to drink, Madam?" A staff member approached Hayden with a smile.
Hayden waved her hand. "No, thank you."
The staff member smiled and walked away.
Hayden quickly finished her cup of milk, then took out a contract from her bag and started discussing business matters with Maddox.
Once they started discussing business, they completely forgot about the time, and didn’t even hear the boarding announcement. They only stopped and started to pack up when a staff member came to remind them to board plane.
After boarding the plane, they continued their unfinished business discussion. As they finished, a flight attendant came with breakfast for them.
They were seated in first class, so breakfast options were plentiful.
Maddox thought Hayden would have little appetite on the plane since she had already eaten breakfast.
However, to his surprise, she started eating once the flight attendant got their breakfast.
As Maddox watched her, he couldn't help but smile and whisper, "Your appetite has grown recently."
Hayden didn't feel shy at all; she smiled and said, "I probably need to replenish more of my energy lately."
Maddox nodded, glanced at her breakfast, then at his own plate, and said, "The cod is good. Do you want to try some?"
"No, I've been a little allergic to seafood recently," Hayden lied without even thinking. It came out naturally.
Maddox chuckled and didn't say anything else. He just lowered his head to eat breakfast.
After breakfast, they both took a nap on the plane. When they woke up, the aircraft was already flying over River North.
Hayden sat by the window, listening to the announcement. She opened her eyes, pushed open the window shade, and looked down. Her heart inexplicably started to beat faster.
This was River North, the place where William was.
At this moment, Hayden wondered where William was and what he was doing. But she knew that no matter how much she missed him, she absolutely couldn't see William in River North.
She couldn't afford to fail.
Hayden stared out of the porthole and slowly placed her hand on her belly. Their child had been there for over two months, and she only had two months left.
She had to perform exceptionally well over the next two months,. She couldn't let Sophia and Finn, or anyone else, catch on.
Maddox sat next to her, watching her hand gently caress her belly, and frowned with a serious expression. He thought she wasn’t feeling good and asked concernedly, "What's wrong? Are you feeling sick?"
"No." Hayden snapped back to reality. Her expression immediately returned to its usual warmth as she removed her hand from her still-flat belly and smiled at Maddox. "It's been many years since I've been to River North. It looks like it’s changed a lot."
"After we sign the contract, I'll have a friend show you around," Maddox eagerly replied while looking at her.
"Okay!" Hayden nodded happily in agreement.
The plane landed smoothly soon after. After Hayden and Maddox got off the plane, they didn't waste any time and walked directly toward the airport exit.
The Smith Group had a branch office in River North, and they had arranged a car to pick them up, waiting just outside of the airport.
The general manager of the branch office was picking them up.
Although Maddox, the head of the company's business department, was insignificant, Miss Hayden of The Smith Group was very important. Since the young lady herself had come, the general manager had to personally greet them, of course.
When they walked out of the airport, the general manager spotted them and waved at them.
Maddox knew the general manager, and after a brief introduction and exchange of pleasantries, the three of them headed directly toward a nearby business car.
As Hayden was about to get into the car, William and Finley Jeffrey walked out of the airport not far behind them.
William unintentionally lifted his gaze and caught sight of a familiar slender figure not far away.
It was Hayden.
William could hardly believe it.
As he looked over, Hayden bent down and got in the business car. Behind her, Maddox followed closely and also bent down to get in.
William could tell that it was really Hayden just by seeing her silhouette through the open car door.
The man standing by the car, whom he recognized, was the general manager of the Smith Group's River North branch. If he was right, the man who had gotten in the car right after Hayden was Maddox, the business department minister of the Smith Group's headquarters.
He knew that Hayden had joined the Smith Group's business department and had performed well. He had also heard that, the Smith Group was collaborating with another major corporation in River North, and Hayden had come to River North on a business trip.
After a moment of consideration, William did not hesitate and walked briskly toward the car that had come to pick him up not far away.
Jeffrey saw that William had suddenly became hurried, even frantic in his steps, and followed closely behind.
"Follow the black business car in front." William immediately barked an order to the driver once they got in the car.
"Yes, William." the driver nodded and immediately started the car, following closely behind the business car that Hayden was in, staying neither too close nor too far.
Jeffrey was in the front passenger seat. When William finished speaking, he stared at the black business car that had just driven away.
The Smith Group's logo was printed on the car body, and it was clear that it was a luxury business car of the Smith Group.
