Chapter 507 William and Hayden (108)

Soon, the elevator doors closed and started to ascend.

Although the exclusive elevator in the presidential suite was relatively spacious, it was still just a small elevator.

No one spoke in the cramped space, and a dead silence spread infinitely in the elevator.

William stood beside Hayden. His gaze, although faint, was firmly fixed on the hand Maddox had wrapped around Hayden's waist.

He wanted to pry that hand off and pull Hayden into his embrace.

Hayden had belittled and mocked him during their last two encounters, but the more she acted this way, the less William believed her.

Every change had been forced upon her by Finn after they brought her back to the country.

After they returned, he had no idea what happened to Hayden.

So, he believed that Hayden must have had her reasons. She must have been forced to do so.

Now, he needed to make Hayden confess to him, to face and solve all the problems and difficulties together.

With a soft sound, the elevator reached the top floor, and the suite butler immediately said, "We have arrived," as he gestured to them.

Hayden held Maddox's arm and walked out of the elevator first, guided by the butler, heading toward their suite.

William followed them out of the elevator and walked toward his suite.

Before reaching the suite, the butler opened the door, but he didn't immediately go in. Instead, he turned his head and looked at Hayden and Maddox not far away.

But Hayden didn't even glance at him.

After the butler opened the door, Hayden went in with Maddox.

After their figures disappeared, William's lips slightly curled, and he walked into the suite.

"Sorry for bothering you with this act." Hayden smiled apologetically at Maddox when they were in the suite.

Maddox smiled back. "Did I do well?"

Obviously, Hayden had no intention of talking about William with him, so he didn't ask any further.

Hayden's smile remained as she nodded. "I'll be in your debt for the next couple of days. I'll make it up to you once we're back in the Imperial Capital."

"And how do you plan to compensate me?" Maddox interjected with a playful undertone, latching onto Hayden's last remark.

Hayden didn’t miss the flirtatious inflection in Maddox's voice, but it didn't bother her. She was confident in Maddox's intentions and knew he meant no harm. With a radiant smile, she responded, "I'll leave it to you to decide."

Maddox Acknowledged her response with a nod and a smile and gestured toward the main bedroom. "As the lady wishes. I can take the guest room, unless that's inconvenient for you?"

"It's perfectly convenient," Hayden cut in swiftly before Maddox could finish, her smile widening. "I'll take the main bedroom, thank you!"

Maddox nodded, smiled, and watched her enter the main bedroom before closing the door.

Hayden was Hayden. She never cared about details. It was comfortable to be with her.

After entering the main bedroom, Hayden didn’t come out again.

At around 9 p.m., Maddox received a call from a friend inviting him out for a drink.

He wanted to give Hayden some time alone in the suite. After all, the person next door must be waiting.

After dressing himself neatly, Maddox went to knock on Hayden’s door.

Hayden was dealing with business inside, but when she heard the sound of knocking, she put down the notebook and got up.

"I made plans to have a drink with a friend, so I might come back late," Maddox reported concisely.

Hayden acknowledged it with a nod and a warm smile. "Okay."

As Maddox turned to leave, he paused and looked back. "Is there anything you'd like me to pick up for you on my way back?"

Hayden bit her lip in thought for a brief moment before replying, "Some snacks or desserts would be nice."

Maddox nodded with a smile that conveyed his agreement. "Consider it done." And with that, he departed.

Hayden leaned against the doorway after she watched Maddox leave. She tilted her head and stared off into space, wondering what William was doing next door. Would he really think she and Maddox were together?

Just as she was thinking about it, the doorbell suddenly rang.

She thought it Maddox had forgotten something and come back to retrieve it; after all, he had only been gone a few minutes.

Hayden hastily went to open the door.

As she pulled open the door, someone else appeared.

She immediately tried to close the door.

However, when she attempted to close it, a strong arm reached out and propped against the door, preventing her from closing it.

"Can we talk?" William looked at the woman in front of him helplessly and tried to negotiate with her.

Since Hayden couldn’t close the door, she left it open.

She was pregnant and couldn't use force against William.

She stopped and crossed her arms with an indifferent expression on her face. She raised an eyebrow and said, "I already made things clear to you. If you still want to talk, please come in."

William's handsome brows furrowed slightly as he looked at her. He stepped inside and closed the door behind him.

Hayden ignored him and walked straight to the counter when she saw him come in. She opened a bottle of wine, poured half a glass, and then lifted it toward her mouth.

However, before she could take a sip, a long arm reached out and snatched the glass of wine from her hand.

"Alcohol is very bad for fetal development. You’re not allowed to drink it anymore." William commanded forcefully as he took away the glass of wine from Hayden's hand.

Hayden sat on a high stool at the counter and looked at him, unable to help but sneer. "Are you joking, William?"

Hayden still seemed hesitant. William closed his eyes with a hint of helplessness. He pleaded almost humbly, "Tell me, Hayden, what do I have to do for you to be honest with me? What do I have to do for you to be willing to face and solve all our problems together with me?"

"It's simple. Disappear from my life and never bother me again. Even if you accidentally run into me, pretend you don't know me," Hayden said contemptuously, looking at him. "That's how I really feel!"

William's good temper and restraint collapsed as he watched her. All his suppressed negative emotions erupted like a roaring volcano.

Suddenly, he couldn't control himself anymore. He took a step forward, grabbed Hayden's wrist, and pulled her closer to him. He squinted at her intensely, gritting his teeth as he spoke word by word, "Say it again, Hayden!"

Hayden looked up and gazed into his deep, swirling eyes with a light smile. She repeated in a carefree manner, "Disappear from my life and never bother me again, William. Pretend you don't know me, even if we accidentally meet. That's the best way to end things between us."

"Hayden!" William almost ground his teeth in hatred as he saw Hayden inches away. But his remaining rationality made him control his emotions. Gradually, he calmed down a bit and said, "Maddox is just your boss. Why did you have to put on a show for me?"

Hayden truly felt sorry for William as she watched him fiercely restrain himself from exploding.

She wanted him to scold her, slap her, and leave in anger instead of seeing him torment himself like this,

But the more he restrained himself, the more it showed that she hadn't been ruthless enough.

So, Hayden continued to smirk scornfully and mockingly. "Have you forgotten how we started, William? Weren't you my boss back then, too?"

He looked at her and closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, they were filled with warmth. In a hoarse voice, he asked, "Do you have to speak to me like this, Hayden?"

"Are you stupid or just despicable William? I’ve already said everything I wanted to say. How many more times do you want me to say it?" William had restrained his temper, but Hayden couldn't hold back any longer.

She had tried her best to put on a show in front of William, but if he continued like this, she was afraid she would break down, unable to continue acting, and confess everything to him.

"Hayden, all I want is one honest word from you. Is that so difficult?" He shouted. Their emotions collapsed again, out of control.

"Every word I just said to you was the truth. Can't you understand?" She roared as she glared at him, furious.

"Hayden!"
