Chapter 425 William and Hayden (26)
Why on earth were there such huge rats in her room?
Not giving it further thought, she instinctively scrolled to William's number and dialed it.
On the other hand, William was out jogging, his mind drifting to Hayden, which led him unknowingly to the female dorm where she stayed.
Like the day before, Hayden would be out for a morning run, and they would bump into each other.
A few hundred meters from the dorm, his phone rang again.
Expecting Michelle, he was surprised when the ringtone indicated it was Hayden—it was the special ringtone he had set for her.
Quickly, he pulled out his phone and saw Hayden's name flashing on the screen.
"Willi..." She didn't even let him start, her nearly tearful plea coming through the phone, "William, hurry to my dorm. There are two huge rats in my room."
William's brows knitted tightly, and he replied firmly, "Don't worry, I'm on my way."
Without hanging up, he sprinted toward the female dorm with all his might, focused solely on Hayden's safety.
As he rushed to the entrance of the female dormitory in one breath, Jasper came down, assisting Michelle. Michelle was taken aback when she saw the hurried and sweaty William with obvious worry and urgency in his eyes.
Could William have raced over so quickly and urgently just because of her?
However, as William seemed completely intent on ignoring them and running past, Michelle felt a wave of confusion.
"William, what's up?" Jasper caught William's arm as he was about to run past.
"There's a bit of an emergency with Hayden; I'm going to check it out." With those words, William shook off Jasper's grip and dashed into the dorm building.
—An emergency.
What kind of emergency?!
Jasper watched William run off, his eyebrows knitting slightly. He wanted to follow but glanced at Michelle beside him and reluctantly decided to stay put.
Michelle stood there, gazing blankly as William disappeared into the building, her heart feeling inexplicably cold.
Wasn't Hayden just scared by a couple of rats? Was there really a need for such concern?
William's reaction was so intense over such a trivial matter; clearly, Hayden must have been trying to seduce him by any means necessary.
All this time, she maintained an aloof front in her presence, putting on airs like some untouchable Miss, only to secretly seduce behind her back.
Hayden, I had really underestimated you.
"Michelle, what's wrong?" Seeing Michelle staring at where William had vanished with an extremely upset expression, Jasper asked with a note of surprise.
"Oh, it's nothing." Coming back to her senses, Michelle quickly masked her icy and angry look, forcing a smile, "Just a bit of leg pain."
"Then let's head to the hospital right away."
"Yeah, sure."
.......
Upstairs in the dorm room, Hayden was leaning against the corner wall of the living room, her body still shaking uncontrollably.
Despite her room's closed door and her standing in the furthest corner from it, the incessant "squeak-squeak" of the rats sounded like a curse in her ears. She could even hear the rustling noises they made inside the room.
Crash!
"Ah!"
Suddenly, the sound of something shattering resounded from her room, startling Hayden into shrieking yet again.
Bang, bang!
"Hayden."
The doorbell chimed, and a forceful knocking resonated almost simultaneously, signaling William's anxious presence outside. Hayden's heart rushed with relief as she hurried to answer the door.
Disregarding that she was clad only in a silky camisole nightgown, Hayden flung herself into William's arms when the door swung open.
William was momentarily taken aback by the sight of the woman leaping into his embrace as soon as the door opened. The very next instant, he instinctively raised his arms to hold her close.
At that moment, with the soft and fragrant beauty in his arms, only heaven knew the mix of emotions swirling through William's heart.
Before he had ever indulged, life with restraint seemed just fine; he didn't feel like he was missing out on anything. But since last night, after having tasted what it was to possess her, she was all he could think about—every precise second of the entire night, his mind and body yearned for Hayden.
It had only been one night, the likes of which he had never endured in his lifetime, yet the mere thought of Hayden brought about a completely different feeling within him.
"There were two massive... huge rats in my room," Hayden said with a trembling voice as she clung to William.
"Don't be afraid; it's okay now. It's over!" William slowly tightened his embrace, lowering his head to kiss her forehead while his large hand gently stroked her back, his voice soft and reassuring.
Having been on his morning run before sprinting eagerly to see Hayden, William was covered in sweat, his entire body radiating heat.
Now, feeling the burning heat from his body, held so tightly by William, listening to his strong and steady heartbeat and his soothing, rich voice, Hayden's anxiety eased. Gradually, her trembling ceased, but she still asked, slightly fearful, "They're in my room. What if they come running out?"
"They won't," William reassured her with another kiss on her forehead, conveying utmost certainty. Then he gently let go of her and asked, "Do you want to stay here while I check, or should I take you to my place first?"
Trying to compose herself, Hayden glanced down at her attire and then looked up again into the tender and loving eyes of the man above her. Her breath hitched, and a flush of embarrassment she had never experienced before crept over her cheeks.
"No need, I'll just wait here for you."
"All right." William nodded, guiding her into the living room.
Noticing a thin blanket on the couch, he took it and wrapped it around Hayden, who was wearing a very flimsy nightgown. He then leaned down for another kiss on her forehead, his gaze fixed on her with deep affection. "You stay here; I'll be out quickly."
Hayden looked up at him, her nod carrying a hint of hesitation, and produced a soft "Mm-hmm" from her nose.
William's lips slightly curled up at the sight of her timid approval. Finally, he released his hold and turned to walk toward her bedroom.
Before entering the room, he banged on the door forcefully to prevent mice from scurrying out and startling Hayden again when he opened the door.
After a few seconds of knocking, he swiftly pushed the door open and then quickly shut it behind him.
Hayden stood outside, watching William zip into his room and close the door. She couldn't help but bow her head and let out a small chuckle.
It was just a couple of mice. Has her reaction been too dramatic?
But how did William get here so quickly?
From how he looked and his attire, could he be running in the neighborhood?
Yet, the way William held her and kissed her made them feel like lovers who had been in love for a long time.
Hayden raised her hand to her chest, feeling her heart pound as if it might leap out.
Could it be that she had truly fallen for William?
Or was she just momentarily charmed by his gentle care?
No, Hayden, you couldn't possibly fall for someone so easily.
That wasn't love. Don't be foolish! You were just temporarily bewitched by his kindness.
Stay calm, she told herself. You must remain calm!
Closing her eyes, Hayden took a deep breath, exhaled, and sat down on the couch, striving to soothe her agitated emotions.
