Chapter 455 William and Hayden (56)
The next day was Jasper's birthday, and his celebration was set in his apartment.
His place was pretty spacious, nearly 3,000 square feet—ample room for a party of dozens.
In the beginning, Hayden, Michelle, and some of Jasper's friends from school came to assist in getting ready for the PARTY. They helped with getting drinks and food ready and organizing deliveries.
Initially, William was expected to arrive around eight o'clock tonight. Still, just after five in the afternoon, Hayden received a call from him explaining that his flight was delayed due to the weather, and it was unclear when he would be able to get there.
"It's okay. It's just Jasper's lousy birthday party. You don't need to rush back. If it comes down to it, I can tolerate having him join us for dinner another day," Hayden comforted William, showing no interest in Jasper's event.
If Hayden didn't have a reason to use Jasper's help, such as convincing Finn and the Johnson family that Jasper was her boyfriend, she wouldn't be so enthusiastic about buying gifts for Jasper or decorating for his birthday party.
On the other end of the phone, William chuckled, "Alright, once I'm back in Southern, I'll call you. Have fun for now."
"Mhm."
"Is something wrong?"
After exchanging a few more words, Hayden ended the call. Michelle quickly approached her with a grin and asked.
"Nothing major, just that William's flight is delayed, so he won't make it to Jasper's birthday," Hayden told Michelle without any reservations.
"That's too bad!" Michelle pressed her lips together and then suddenly brightened with a smile. "But no worries. There's a bunch of us to keep you company tonight. You won't feel lonely."
Hayden gave her a look, smiled, and said nothing, continuing with the party preparations.
At seven in the evening, the birthday celebration officially began, and Jasper's friends and classmates started to show up – not too many, just over thirty in total.
A gathering of thirty or so young people meant a lively birthday bash – everyone was having a blast singing karaoke, dancing, eating, drinking, laughing, playing cards, and rolling dice; the party was in full swing.
Hayden thought she could handle alcohol pretty well, but tonight, even though she hadn't drunk much, she ended up feeling a bit tipsy. Before nine o'clock, she flopped onto the couch and drifted off to sleep in a hazy state.
"Hayden, Hayden!" Michelle saw Hayden pass out on the couch, grabbed her arm, and shouted, "Don't sleep now, come on, continue to party, continue to drink."
However, Hayden showed no signs of stirring and was fast asleep.
"No reaction." Michelle, holding a drink and sporting a tipsy yet lucid expression, laughed. "Looks like you've really had too much. Well, you sleep; the rest of us will keep the party going." "Blegh!"
Right after she finished speaking, she made a retching motion and hurried towards the restroom. She dashed into the shower room, slamming the door shut with a loud bang. Just moments ago, her eyes seemed unfocused, like she was partially drunk, but now they were suddenly sharp and clear. Then, she took out her cell phone and dialed a number...
Ding, dong! Ding, dong! Ding, dong!
As everyone was having a blast, a series of insistent doorbell rings interrupted the fun, prompting someone to open the apartment door.
Several men in business suits promptly walked in, asking who owned the apartment.
"Jasper, it's for you!" a classmate bellowed.
Jasper, who had been deeply involved in a dice game with some friends, glanced up to see the apartment complex's management staff standing nearby. He reluctantly paused the game and got up to deal with the situation.
"Sorry, we've received a number of complaints about the noise level here. It's a serious disturbance, and it's affecting the rest of your neighbors above and below. We need you to halt your entertainment activities immediately and have your friends leave," one of the staffers said to Jasper with a serious demeanor.
"Complained?!" Jasper frowned and scratched his head.
He had overlooked that issue.
After a moment of reflection, he turned to everyone and suggested, "How about we move to another place to continue?"
"Let it go, man. It's getting late, and we've all had enough fun. Let's call it a night," one person quickly chimed in, seeing Jasper's dilemma.
"Yeah! Let's disperse and play another day."
"Alright, let's call it a night. We'll get together another time, and I'll host a killer party for everyone," Jasper, not wanting to cause any further trouble, nodded in agreement.
Once Jasper had spoken, everyone naturally agreed and began to bid their farewells, gradually dispersing from the scene.
After everyone had left, the apartment staff naturally left as well.
Jasper closed the door and turned around, only to find that Hayden was still lying on the couch.
However, this wasn't a problem. William was expected to return tonight, so when he did, Jasper could simply carry Hayden over.
Shaking his slightly woozy head, Jasper headed toward the restroom.
Just as he reached the restroom door and was about to turn the knob, the door suddenly opened from the inside with a click.
Jasper jumped in surprise when he saw someone suddenly appear, but when he recognized Michelle, he let out a sigh of relief.
Looking around confused, Michelle asked, "Where... Where is everyone? Why did they all leave?"
"Yeah, they've all gone. The management came by, citing disturbances," Jasper nodded, leaning against the door frame.
"Oh, I see." Michelle nodded, surveying the messy room, "Then, let me help you clean up."
With that, Michelle moved to start tidying the place.
"No need; someone will come to pick it up tomorrow," Jasper said quickly, grabbing her arm.
"Ah!"
