Chapter322
With immense fondness, she gave him a thumbs-up. "That's my wonderful little guy. Grandma loves you the most."
"I love Grandma, too." The little guy flashed a big grin and sweetly said.
Katherine smiled, gave him a peck on the cheek, and then turned to Gabriel and Teresa with a hint of concern. "Gabriel, Teresa, you're both recovering. And Teresa, it's going to take some time for you to heal fully. I've talked it over with Teresa's mother, and we're wondering if maybe we should postpone the wedding for a month?"
"No need to postpone. Stick to the original plan," Gabriel countered immediately before Teresa could respond.
He had planned the wedding for a month and a half away to coincide with a time that held personal significance.
Gabriel had long envisioned a grand, opulent wedding to declare Teresa as his beloved to the world. He was also eagerly looking forward to their honeymoon, craving the intimate time alone in their little world.
Even now, with both of them in hospital, he refused to delay their plans.
"There's still a month to go. Teresa should be well on the way to recovery by then," he reasoned.
"Yeah, Mom, let's keep to the original schedule. I should be mostly recovered by then," Teresa agreed, glancing at Gabriel and nodding firmly.
"Well, all right then. If you both insist on no delay, then no delay it shall be," Katherine conceded. She took Teresa's hand, patting it affectionately. "Teresa, you just focus on getting better this month. Leave everything else to me."
"Thank you, Mom," Teresa nodded with gratitude.
"What are you thanking me for, silly child? As long as you and Gabriel are happy, that's all the thanks I need," Katherine said tenderly.
Teresa looked at her with appreciation and nodded again.
It was hard for Teresa to convince Parker to leave with Katherine after their time in the hospital room.
Once they were gone, Gabriel slid next to Teresa, gingerly pulling her into his embrace, and planted a firm kiss on the crown of her head. "Have you thought about where we should go for our honeymoon?"
Teresa laughed and looked up at him, "As long as I'm with you, I don't care where we go."
Gabriel chuckled adoringly, "When did my sweetheart become so undemanding?"
"Who says I have no demands?" Teresa retorted playfully, fixing him with a mock stern look. "I expect you to live to a hundred and in this lifetime, to love only me. If I catch you so much as glancing at another woman, you're done for."
Gabriel laughed, "Looks like we can't have a daughter in the future because if you gave me a daughter, I would surely love her too."
Teresa gave him a wry look.
"All right, we'll have sons, only sons," Gabriel said with a serious nod, his eyes sparkling with joy as he gazed at her.
Teresa covered his mouth with her hand, "No, I definitely want a daughter."
"Mm, okay," Gabriel agreed, nodding and kissing her forehead. "Even if we have a daughter, I won’t love her, just you."
Teresa smiled thinly, "Good, you'd better keep your promise."
"Mm, I will."
Knock, knock.
Knocking broke the silence. Gabriel lay on the hospital bed, still holding Teresa, and calmly called out, not attempt to hide, "Come in."
Teresa had assumed it was the doctor or a nurse, but to her surprise, it was Liam and Diana who entered.
When Liam pushed the door open and saw the couple entwined on the bed, he couldn't deny the pang of discomfort that struck his heart.
He disguised it well, though, his face betraying no sign of disturbance as he managed a shallow smile, "Teresa, it seems you're recovering nicely?"
Teresa leaned back against the headboard, glanced briefly at Liam without responding, and her gaze moved past him to Diana, who had followed him in, greeting her with a smile.
Liam stood there, his eyes already dimmed by the cold reception, now losing what little luster they had left.
Lauren had been one of Teresa's students, but because of him, things had turned out this way. Teresa was understandably upset with him, something he could fully comprehend.
"Teresa, Gabriel," Diana walked in after them, a large bouquet in her arms, which she gently placed on a nearby side table. She moved closer to the hospital bed, her concern evident as she spoke to Teresa. "How are you feeling, Teresa? What did the doctor say?"
"I'm okay. I just lost a good amount of blood. I need some rest." Teresa's calm belied the situation as she reached out and took Diana's hand. "Are you all right?"
This morning, while Gabriel was away for treatment, Diana had likely been scrolling through her phone. She must have seen all about Lauren's tragic leap from the rooftop of Evans Group.
The censored photos of Lauren's fallen body still revealed the unmistakable horror of her death through the large, dark pools of blood.
Diana had been there, a direct witness to the incident.
Understanding the meaning behind Teresa's words, Diana quickly flashed a reassuring smile and shook her head. "Worry about yourself, not me! I’m fine. You just focus on getting better.”
"Mhm," Teresa nodded, then offered, "Why don't you take a seat? I'll have someone bring you some fruit."
"Honey, this is a hospital room. It's small. The two of us are enough company for each other."
Almost before Teresa could finish speaking, Gabriel's words carried an underlying hint for Diana to leave.
Teresa turned to glare at him, speechless.
