Chapter 34 Restless Dreams and Revelations
Teresa spent the night caught in a torrent of unsettling dreams, each more vivid than the last, with Gabriel's haunting presence threading through them.
She woke up feeling drained, her mind heavy with the weight of her restless sleep. Liam had planned to pick her up to go to the hospital, but an unforeseen issue occurred, so they rescheduled to meet there later in the day.
After a quick breakfast with William, they arranged for their housekeeper to prepare meals for their parents and set off for the hospital.
"You don't look so well," William noted, seeing Teresa stifle another yawn.
"Just bad dreams," she admitted.
"Don't overthink, Dad's going to be fine," William reassured her, reaching over to ruffle her hair at a stoplight. "You'll have peace of mind once you're abroad."
At twenty-eight, William had already made a name for himself in the business world, expanding their family's Queen Group into a national powerhouse.
Teresa squeezed his hand, a mix of affection and concern in her eyes. "Take care of yourself, too, okay?"
“Are you worried that I might die young?” Ethan joked.
“Stop saying that!” Teresa gave him an angry look, then added “Our parents and you will live a long life.”
"Isn't that Gabriel?" William's question drew Teresa's attention to a familiar figure by the lake—Gabriel, with an elderly man in a wheelchair, likely Mr. Mason.
Teresa's gaze met Gabriel's for a split second before she averted her eyes. "Let's just get inside," she said, and picked up the pace. "Mom and Dad are waiting."
William, sensing her haste, then let the matter drop, though he noticed Gabriel's lingering smile.
"What's making you smile, son?" Mason asked Gabriel, intrigued by his grandson's mysterious smile that he had never seen..
"Just saw a woman I'm interested in," Gabriel replied. He finally drew his attention away from Teresa.
Mason prodded about Unity, but Gabriel dismissed the idea. The conversation turned to responsibility and Gabriel's obligations, but he just kept on trying to change subject.
"If you can sort things out with the Lewis family, and Unity also agrees to the terms, then pursue whoever you want," Mason stated, and laid out a path for Gabriel.
"And if she's with someone else?" Gabriel mused.
Mason's old-world values surfaced, warning against forbidden pursuits.
Gabriel's response was silence, but his eyes betrayed a brewing storm.
