Chapter 532 William and Hayden
Looking at Hall's gloomy face, Hayden felt very happy.
She had thought that Hall, being older than Nikolai by a dozen years, would have a better personality than Nikolai. But now it seemed that Hall was not even as good as Nikolai.
When someone is embarrassed, naturally, there will be someone who feels triumphant. Those who usually dislike the Johnson family awkwardly walked away from Hall and gathered around. Everyone chatted happily together.
Hall wanted to humiliate others, but he almost became the laughingstock of the whole event. However, Hall couldn't just leave like that; otherwise, both he and the Johnson family's reputation would be damaged. He would have to find a way to retaliate at the right time. With these thoughts in mind, Hall left Hayden and went to the restroom.
Now that Hall was not around, Hayden could finally take a break and stop pretending. So, she found a dimly lit and quiet corner, sat down, and held her glass of wine, sipping lightly while admiring the people at the party.
However, her gaze would always intentionally or unintentionally fall on William. Undoubtedly, William, young and handsome, with a tall and graceful figure, had become the center of attention at the party as a newcomer in the business world.
But after five or six minutes, when Hayden looked up again, she was surprised to find William striding toward her with long steps.
His gaze, fixed on her, was obscure and unfathomable. Unexplainably, Hayden's heart trembled, and a thought of escaping involuntarily popped into her mind. Immediately, Hayden put down her glass and quickly walked toward the side door of the banquet hall. William followed closely behind, keeping his eyes on her.
Once they were out of the banquet hall, Hayden suddenly felt lost. Where could she escape to? Going to the women's restroom was obviously not an option, as William would surely follow her in.
As she stood there, looking around and not knowing which way to go, a hand suddenly reached out and embraced her. She was startled, and her feet left the ground before she could turn around. Her body was lifted up, and Hayden screamed in fright.
When she realized and looked up at the man above her, she immediately started struggling and angrily said, "William, put me down!" Holding her tightly, William walked quickly toward the lounge next to the banquet hall, his eyes fixed ahead. He spoke in a deep voice, "If you want to attract everyone's attention, then keep screaming."
He knew that whether it was her miscarriage or her relationship with Hall, Hayden must have her reasons. So, he would never make things difficult for her in front of anyone, nor would he go against her wishes and expose their relationship to others.
Staring at him, Hayden felt inexplicably angry. She missed him so much. She wanted to see him. But why, after they met, did she feel so irritated and unable to control her anger? Sensing her quietness, William felt satisfied and quickened his pace, swiftly arriving outside the lounge. William's driver had been waiting there for a while.
As William approached with Hayden in his arms, the driver promptly swung the car door open. Once they were settled inside, the driver carefully shut the door, resuming his vigil outside.
In the privacy of the lounge, the moment the door clicked shut, Hayden's restraint shattered, and she writhed fiercely against William's hold. Keen to avoid causing her harm, William gently set her down on the couch at the first sign of her struggle.
Like a tempest unleashed, Hayden's fury erupted. Seizing a cushion, she hurled it at William, her voice a thunderous mix of anger and indignation, "William, you scoundrel! What right do you have over me? Dragging me here against my will — that's abduction, do you even realize?"
William, a stoic figure before her, made no move to evade the incoming projectile, letting it strike him squarely. He opened his eyes to the sight of her, a fierce presence sprawled across the sofa, and his brow creased with concern. "Hayden, do you still refuse to share anything with me after all this time?"
