Chapter 552 William and Hayden
"William, it's been a while!"
A month later in River North. Michelle learned everything she needed to know. She resigned from her job at the Solum Group and came to River North, using every means possible to secure a ticket to the annual high-end business gala in River North.
Upon entering, she scanned the room searching for William because she had found out that he would be attending the gala that evening. True to her expectations, William appeared shortly after the gala officially began.
After five years of absence, William's appearance was so captivating that it almost took Michelle's breath away. Her gaze seemed to stick to William like glue; from the moment he arrived, she couldn't look away.
William's presence naturally became the center of attention, drawing the eyes of all, especially unmarried ladies who, like Michelle, couldn't seem to avert their gaze from him.
Accustomed to being the focus of admiration, affection, or envy from the crowd, William paid it no mind, paying no extra attention. Naturally, he didn't notice Michelle in the crowd.
Observing his every move, after nearly half an hour, Michelle finally found an opportunity. Holding a glass of wine with elegance, she walked up to William.
As a familiar voice sounded near him, William raised his eyes to look at her. At the sight of Michelle, dressed in an intellectual and elegant long dress, exuding a sense of sophistication and dignity, William's eyes remained unchanged. He courteously nodded, "It's been a while," before continuing his conversations with others without another glance back at Michelle.
Michelle, however, had no intention of giving up.
After a while, when she noticed William leaving the main hall alone, she immediately followed him.
It turned out that William had gone out to the balcony outside the main hall to take a call.
"William, are you still angry with me?" After he hung up the call, Michelle approached him with a graceful demeanor, looking at him with eyes full of guilt.
William had known she followed him, but only now did he turn his head towards her. With a gentle gaze that showed no emotional change, he politely nodded, "Angry with you? From where do I begin?"
"William, I truly didn't mean to hurt Hayden back then. I... I just loved you too much. Seeing you pamper Hayden into such a blissful princess, I couldn't help but feel jealous, jealous of Hayden, wanting you to pay a bit of attention to me too." Michelle looked at William with deep remorse and affection in her eyes.
Seeing Michelle mentioning Hayden's name, memories of that party in Imperial Capital where Hayden had spoken to him in the lounge resurfaced clearly in William's mind. Those words had echoed in his ears countless times over the past five years, each repetition feeling as fresh as if it had just happened.
"William, if possible, I really wish that I hadn't done all those things. I'm truly sorry." As William's eyes narrowed and a suppressed anger seemed to flare up in his gentle yet intense gaze, Michelle grasped the opportunity and continued, "William, please believe me. If it wasn't for Hayden constantly provoking and taunting me with your love story, I would never have wanted to hurt Hayden. I was just angry at the time, but now I truly regret it!"
With these words, Michelle reached out, carefully taking hold of the hand that William held the wine glass in. Under the dim balcony lights, her eyes shimmered with watery brightness as she gazed at him and pleaded, "William, could you please give me a chance, forgive me?"
