Chapter321
Hearing Liam's words, Faith was seething with rage.
Just an hour ago, she had praised Liam on Facebook, proclaiming their genuine love for each other.
Now, her post had been shared hundreds of thousands of times, with over a million comments.
But an hour later, Liam was breaking up with her and claiming it was her idea?
Wasn't that essentially slapping herself in the face for all to see?
"Liam, if there's something you're unhappy with or something I've done wrong, just tell me. I'll make an effort to fix it. But can we not just throw around the word 'breakup' like it's nothing? It's childish, don't you think?" Faith tried to keep her composure despite Liam's carefree attitude, her pride taking a hit.
She was the only daughter of the prominent Coppola family, constantly treated like a princess. It was unlike her to plead with a man in such a submissive tone.
"No, you've done nothing wrong. Everything's fine," Liam finally looked up at her, meeting her gaze with a detached expression. "I just don't like you anymore. I don't think you're the right fit for Mrs. Liam."
"Are you playing games with me, Liam?" Suddenly, Faith couldn't contain her anger anymore, her voice rising to almost a shout.
Liam shook his head with a breezy indifference, "No, I'm serious. Though we're over, the partnership between Evans Group and your Coppola family will continue."
"No, I won't accept this." Faith stood her ground firmly, rejecting the breakup, "Liam, I refuse to break up with you. Our engagement party will go on as planned."
Her adamant stance only made Liam's expression grow colder.
He put down the documents he had been reading, leaned back in his chair with an icy detachment, and said, "Well then, I'm sorry, but I'll just have to announce our split unilaterally."
"Liam, don't you dare!" Faith was furious but at a loss, her eyes reddening with anger.
"You have three days to release the news yourself. The reason – you can write whatever you please." Having said that, Liam picked up another document and continued reading, ignoring Faith.
"Liam, I told you—"
Knock, knock.
Just then, the sound of knocking at the door interrupted Faith, and she turned to see Diana standing at the entrance.
"Mr. Liam, Mr. Allen is here, waiting for you in the reception room," Diana reported, standing at the door, her tone respectful.
"All right, I'll be right there." Liam nodded, got up, and walked out briskly.
"Liam, it doesn’t matter if you give me three days, thirty days, or even three years—I won't break up with you," Faith asserted, seething as she spoke and left the room before Liam, leaving him with the sight of her elegant and proud retreat.
Watching Faith storm out, Diana nodded politely and called out, "Faith."
Faith gave her a sidelong glance, scoffed, and strode past without a word.
"Let's go to the reception room," Liam instructed Diana calmly once Faith had left.
Diana nodded and kept pace with him.
However, after walking just a short distance, her curiosity got the better of her. "Mr. Liam, are you and Faith..."
"It's over," Liam answered concisely as he strode toward the living room. He then ordered, "Let it be known. Faith is not allowed up here without my permission."
It's over.
Diana glanced at his neatly trimmed hair and was momentarily taken aback. But she quickly regained composure and acknowledged, "Understood."
...
Teresa's condition had stabilized, so early in the morning, the hospital had arranged for her transfer to First Hospital, where she would share a room with Gabriel.
Gabriel had not completed his treatment the day before, and upon his return to the hospital today, he immediately continued with his therapy.
His lymphoma was at an intermediate stage, but with the most advanced treatment available worldwide and his strong constitution, coupled with a consistently positive attitude during treatment, he was responding exceptionally well.
Croissant hadn't seen his mom and dad for a whole day and night. After breakfast, Katherine took him to the hospital. Seeing Teresa injured and hospitalized, the little guy almost cried until Teresa comforted him.
When Gabriel returned to the room after a treatment session, Croissant rushed into his arms and hugged his legs, his big eyes still slightly red as he pleaded, "Daddy, I want to stay with you in the hospital so we can take care of Mommy together."
Gabriel bent down, scooped up the little one, and sat by Teresa's bedside, holding her cool hand. "How's it feeling? Any pain?"
Although he had only been away for two hours to undergo treatment, it felt as if days had passed since he last saw Teresa.
"Where does it hurt, Mommy? I'll blow on it to make it better," Croissant insisted, puckering his lips to blow on her skin.
Teresa chuckled, "Mommy is okay right now. You can blow on it when it hurts, all right?"
"Daddy, move over. I want to sit here next to Mommy," said the little guy, attempting to push Gabriel aside to make room on the bed.
"Weren't you the one who said you wanted to take care of Mommy with me?" Gabriel teased, glancing at the little guy in his arms. "Let's ask Mommy if she wants you to stay."
"No!" The little one tilted his head stubbornly, leaning over to wrap his arms around Teresa's neck. "Mommy is mine. I want to be with her all the time. Daddy, you can't separate us."
Gabriel raised an eyebrow, "I told you before, your mom is my sweetheart. She's with me, and one day, you'll be with your own sweetheart."
"Pfft! I don't want a sweetheart. I just want Mommy."
"What about Grandma?" Katherine walked in, overhearing the little guy and pretending to be displeased.
"I want Grandma," he quickly corrected himself, "I want both Mommy and Grandma."
His words instantly tickled Katherine's heart.
The more time she spent with her beloved grandson, the more she adored him. He was the apple of her eye, and she couldn't bear a day without him.
