Chapter 592 Quarrel

"William."

At noon, in the CEO's office of the Bennett Group office building, Michelle lightly knocked on the door when William was busy reading documents. She walked straight in without waiting for William's permission.

William raised his eyes to glance at her coldly, then looked away without saying a word.

Michelle glanced at William. When she saw that he was ignoring her, she smiled and took a large stack of takeout orders toward the rest area, saying, "I ordered your favorite food from The Golden Eagle Diner, eat up."

She glanced at William, who still ignored her. She then put down the takeout and started taking the food out.

The food from The Golden Eagle Diner was delicious and exquisite. Michelle had ordered six dishes, along with a soup and a Cajun dish, almost filling up the table.

"Alright, William, you can eat now. I'm hungry." Michelle spoke gently once again after setting up the lunch, looking expectantly at William.

"You go ahead and eat, I'm not hungry." William refused without even looking up.

Michelle suddenly felt very wronged and sad.

However, no matter how she stared at William, he refused to look at her again.

"William, are you still mad at me?" When Michelle saw that William was still pretending not to feel anything and completely ignoring, she walking over nervously while looking at him.

But William still ignored her, continuing to flip through the documents in his hands.

"William, I'm sorry, I was really wrong, I will..." As Michelle started to say those pitiful words, William suddenly grabbed a thick stack of documents in front of him and forcefully threw them out.

In an instant, the large office was filled with fluttering white papers, slowly falling down one by one.

Michelle was startled, and completely stunned.

"Michelle, what did you tell me yesterday? What did I tell you? Have you forgotten so soon?" William asked her coldly, raising his head and; his eyes showing anger and coldness that Michelle had never seen before.

"William, are you talking what happened about this morning when I went to the hospital with my parents to see Hayden?" Michelle was not a fool. She was not clueless about anything even though she pretended to be gentle and kind.

So, after just a moment of being stunned, she immediately came to her senses and defended herself confidently. "I went to the hospital with my parents to see Hayden. I just wanted to apologize to her and reconcile with her, in order to prevent making things difficult for you. I swear, I wasn't doing anything else."

"You didn't want to make things difficult for me?" William lowered his head, raised his hand to his forehead, closed his eyes, and sneered, "Michelle, you sure do think about me."

Michelle said, "William, you are my fiancé, you'll be my husband soon. I love you, I respect you, and I always think about you. That's why I went to apologize to Hayden. Don't you believe me at all?"

Michelle appeared extremely wronged and sincere as she looked at William. Tears shimmered in her eyes. She continued, "Hayden has always been arrogant. She's domineering because she's the heiress of the Bush Family. Tell me, how could I possibly provoke her? She's always provoked me, both six or seven years ago and now."

"Michelle, we have known each other for a long time. Do you think I don't know what kind of person you are?" Opening his eyes, William once again raised his head to look at Michelle, smirking. "Now, I have only one request for you, and that is to never let Hayden see you again."

Michelle was shocked and disappointed when she saw William's disappointed expression. She couldn't believe it. She said, "William, I am your fiancée, why don't you trust me?"

William couldn't help but smile as he looked at her, mocking, "Of course I trust you."

"Okay, I promise." Michelle nodded. "I will never see Hayden again. But if I accidentally run into her or if she approaches me, should I just keep quiet and let her provoke and humiliate me?"

William smiled coldly again, furrowing his handsome brows. "Michelle, you're clever, but be careful not to misuse your intelligence. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for anyone to like you."

"Okay, I understand." Michelle nodded with a smile, feeling a bit resigned. And suddenly she said it as if she didn't care. "Since you're not hungry, I won't eat either. You can go on with your work."

With that, she turned around, raised her head high, and walked out with big strides.

Seven years ago, William might have been with Hayden because of her family background, but today, William was protecting Hayden not because of her family background.

Now, the Bennett family had surpassed the Donovan family and had become the second prestigious family in River North. Since they had the powerful in-laws in the Garcia family, the Bennett family no longer needed to curry favor with the Bush family.

Now, William liked Hayden because she still maintained her noble heiress demeanor and because of the baby in her belly.

In the future, she would never bow down to anyone.

William's face remained expressionless as he watched Michelle leave and looked at the sumptuous meal on the table. He called Lily, asking her to come in and take away the food.

Jasper suddenly rushed to River North, even though he hadn't planned on going back. Of course, Maxwell couldn't ignore it.

Maxwell sent someone to find out why Jasper had hurriedly gone to River North overnight.

The person who came back reported to Maxwell that Hayden's health was not good at the moment, and she was in the hospital for the birth of the baby. Jasper had gone to River North because she had called.

Maxwell didn't get angry, he just called Jasper personally.

"Why did you rush to River North to be with Hayden during the birth of the baby? What were you thinking?" Maxwell asked calmly.

"Dad, you asked William to promise you that he wouldn't be with Hayden for the rest of his life just to give me a chance, right? My chance has come. Why aren't you happy?" On the other end of the phone, Jasper was at a club with some friends. He was sitting in a quiet corner, his eyes fixed on a beautiful woman not far away as he frowned and responded.

Maxwell remained calm and expressionless. "I'm not unhappy, I just see the reality clearly! If Hayden is willing to marry you now, fine. But the baby she gives birth to must bear the Hart surname. Otherwise, I won't allow you to be together."

It was important for Jasper since he was a son of the Hart family. After all, the family's reputation was more important than money.

Jasper frowned deeply and sighed. "That's impossible. Even if Hayden agrees, Finn won't agree."

"In that case, forget it," Maxwell said decisively.

Jasper tightened his brows and thought for a moment. Then, he said, "I'm hanging up."

"You haven't told me what you're thinking yet!" Maxwell raised his voice.

"Since you won't agree, can I refuse to listen to you?" Jasper said helplessly.

He was quite frustrated.

He admitted that he had liked Hayden for many years, but he could live without her.

Now, Hayden was pregnant with William's twins, and the babies would call William their father. What was the point of marrying Hayden? Moreover, Hayden's heart belonged entirely to William. Even if he married Hayden, he might not be able to be a real husband to her.

So, he didn't want to get involved. He would just be friends with them. He didn't want to be embarrassed because of this.

Maxwell instructed, "Then hurry back, I'll have someone arrange a new girlfriend for you."

"No!" Jasper immediately felt helpless. "Since you don't expect anything from me, don't bother arranging it. Can't I just do as I please?"

"Fine, then do as you please. Never come back," Maxwell scolded angrily.

"Alright, thank you. Take care of yourself. I'm hanging up." With that, Jasper hung up the phone and then walked toward the beautiful woman not far away.
