Chapter 182 As Long as You're Living Well, I'll Never Have Peace

Aside from the minor episode with Brian, the entire evening banquet was a delightful affair. As the rightful lady of the Garcia family and the darling of all its members, Teresa shone brightly, the belle of the ball.

Not to mention the three designer gowns and exquisite jewelry sets she swapped throughout the night, which were the envy of every socialite there.

After the banquet ended and all the guests had departed, sometime past midnight, Teresa slipped into bed, fresh from a soothing bath.

Lying in Gabriel's arms, she felt his excitement stirring once again and hastily stopped his advances, "Darling, I'm so tired. Can we just rest tonight?"

Gabriel's laughter rumbled with contentment at her tender 'Darling'. His desire surged, uncontrollably. In a throaty whisper, he leaned in, "Just relax, let me do the..."

"You're such a tease!" Teresa pushed at him, "You horny jerk, how can anyone even think you're not into women?"

"What... who said that?" Gabriel lifted his head, his eyes gleaming with curiosity as he looked into the eyes of the woman in his embrace.

Teresa had no intention of bringing Brian into this. She glared at him fiercely and said, "People talk, you know? It's beyond me how you managed to offend so many."

"Well... what others think doesn't matter," he assured, his words heavy with affection, "All that matters is what you think, honey." Leaning forward, Gabriel moved to continue his expression of love.
"Of course, it matters, Gabriel. Don't tell me I'm the first woman you've been involved with," Teresa said, blocking his way with seriousness in her voice.

Gabriel looked down at her with an amorous gaze, a playful smile dancing on his lips. "So, would you prefer if there have been others or not?"

"Don't play games, Gabriel. Just come out with it," Teresa scolded him.

"Alright, I'll come clean later," Gabriel replied, as he took her hands in his, lifting them above her head and planting a kiss on her lips.

"Hey, Gabr...mmph!"

...

The following Monday, not only did Teresa have classes, but there was also a college event she needed to attend. However, she found herself unable to get up in the morning; she was utterly exhausted.

That jerk, Gabriel, was infuriating; just as she struggled to get out of bed, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back under the covers.

"Let go of me, you jerk, you scoundrel!" Teresa fought against his hold, cursing and hitting him.

She'd already gone to bed late because of him, and yet he wouldn't let her be for over an hour before finally letting her sleep.

"Honey, if you don't feel like getting up, then don't. Quit your college job, forget the diplomat's exam. If you really want to work, join me at Capital Construction; we could use someone like you..."

"Don't you even think about it, Gabriel!" Teresa interrupted, covering his mouth before he could continue, "If I were to start working at Capital Construction, would I ever have any peace?"

Gabriel smiled joyously at the little spitfire in his arms, kissing the hand he held, "If you were at Capital Construction, I'd never make you do anything you didn't want to do."

"Yeah, right!" Teresa shot back, glaring at him sideways as she pushed him away, throwing off the covers and getting out of bed. This time, Gabriel didn't stop her.

After breakfast, Gabriel dropped Teresa off at the college before heading to Capital Construction himself.

Teresa's lecture ended at nine. As she walked out of the building, she caught sight of Yvonne stepping out of a car.

Teresa knew that although Gabriel agreed with her to let Yvonne go, Yvonne's half-month in custody hadn't been easy.

Now, seeing Yvonne again, she looked visibly worn and haggard, but the malice in her eyes and on her face had only deepened.

The bodyguard, seeing Yvonne approaching Teresa, immediately stepped in front of her, preventing any further approach.

Yvonne sneered disdainfully, glancing at the two bodyguards blocking her way with utter contempt, “Chill out. I just want to have a few words with Mrs. Garcia."

"It's fine, let her through," Teresa said coolly, eyeing Yvonne.

Seeing that Yvonne was alone, carrying nothing, not even a purse, and assuredly no weapon, the bodyguards finally let her pass.

"Teresa, you think just because I'm no longer Mrs. Evans, I have no way to deal with you?" Yvonne walked over, her eyes and face filled with intense loathing.

She hadn't wanted to divorce Tyler, but when Gabriel threatened further legal action, leaving her on the verge of arrest, she had no choice but to do so.

Otherwise, if she were to be in prison for seven or eight years, she was certain she wouldn’t have survived it, let alone have the chance to settle the score with Teresa.

No longer Mrs. Evans?

It had surprised Teresa, the way the Evans family had completely discarded Yvonne.

But then, a woman like Yvonne wasn't the kind who men could tolerate forever.

"Now that you're no longer Mrs. Evans, how should I address you? Ms. Campbell, perhaps?" Teresa said with an elegant smile, free of any animosity, "Ms. Campbell, there's truly no bad blood between us, really. At worst, we simply dislike each other, that's all. There's no need to constantly think about self-destructive schemes."

"Self-destructive?!" Yvonne scoffed, "Teresa, after all the trouble you've caused me, do you think I care at all? As long as you're living well, I'll never have peace. I'll find an opportunity to get you thrown out of the Garcia family."

With those words, Yvonne let out a cold laugh and turned to leave.

Teresa stood there, watching her vengeful figure disappear, and let out a deep sigh.

It appeared she had to be extra careful around Yvonne in the future.
