Chapter 501 William and Hayden (102)
"It seems like William is very popular!" Finn casually remarked as he glanced at Hayden who was sitting beside him, playing with her phone. They were returning from the banquet.
Although he didn't like William, Finn had observed him.
William's performance at The Hart family banquet had won him the favor and admiration of many people.
"Yes!" Hayden glanced up from his phone screen and calmly raised an eyebrow. "You see, Finn, I'm very popular with men. I made at least fifty new friends tonight."
As he spoke, Hayden handed her phone to Finn.
Finn glanced at Hayden's phone and saw many unread messages on the open Facebook page, all from business elites.
"Nikolai should come to our house during this time. You can get to know him," Finn said as he averted his gaze.
"Nikolai." Finn's words didn't surprise Hayden at all. Instead of getting angry, she smiled and asked, "Do you think he's good for me?"
Finn's face darkened. "Nikolai really likes you."
Hayden raised an eyebrow with a smile on her face. "He's just a waste."
"So, you and I don't have to worry about him achieving anything in the Smith Family or The Smith Group."
Finn's words caused Hayden's eyes to darken for a moment, and she felt quite surprised.
Could she have misunderstood Finn's intentions? It seemed like he didn't want someone who would pose a threat to the Smith Family, or perhaps he didn't want to a son-in-law to share everything that belonged to Daniel.
Hayden looked at Finn and smiled at him. " I don't necessarily have to get married, Finn. Maybe I can stay at home."
"If you're with Nikolai, it'll be your aunt's decision. I don't want to owe her anything." Finn didn't hide anything and told Hayden the truth.
Hayden listened and found it amusing, but her expression did not change. She nodded and said, "I'll listen to you. I'll talk to Nikolai."
Finn nodded in satisfaction when he saw Hayden obey once again. "If you have power and money, men will listen to your orders. I believe you can control Nikolai."
So that's what Finn thought.
He was becoming more and more abnormal.
Hayden obediently nodded. "Alright, Finn, you always think ahead."
.......
Suddenly, Christmas was here.
Daniel was brought back home with his leg in a heavy cast.
Daniel became even more irritable because of his broken leg, while Jocelyn became more well-behaved and intelligent, pretending to look sorry for herself.
Finally, Finn scolded Daniel and told him not to pick on Jocelyn anymore.
Hayden took Jocelyn to visit the Petrova family to celebrate the New Year.
When they returned home after staying with the Petrova family for two days, Hayden glanced up and saw the Johnson family sitting on the living room sofa.
Pierre, Sienna, Nikolai, Ophelia Johnson, and Pierre's younger brother were all here.
However, Donovan's sweetheart was nowhere to be seen.
Hayden investigated each member thoroughly so she could deal with the Johnson family.
Today, the Johnson family had come to pay their respects to Finn.
When Jocelyn saw the Johnson family, she couldn't help but sneer.
Hayden promptly nudged her with her elbow.
Jocelyn understood and immediately regained her innocent and obedient appearance.
"Hayden and Jocelyn are back. Come over here," Sophia said. She immediately got up when she saw them, smiling as she walked toward them.
"You came back just in time. Nikolai and the others are here. We can eat soon." Sophia walked over and took their hands, smiling.
Nikolai sat on the sofa, looking up at Hayden, almost drooling.
His uncle, Donovan, who was thirty-eight years old, sat next to him. Despite being much older than Nikolai, Donovan was still attracted to Hayden.
When Hayden and Sophia approached them, she did not look at Nikolai and Donovan. However, their gazes made her feel disgusted and repulsed.
Nevertheless, she didn't let her feelings show on her face. She simply walked past them and politely greeted Pierre and Sienna.
"Hello!" Hayden greeted them proactively for the first time. Pierre and Sienna immediately nodded. Pierre praised them as he greeted them. "Hayden and Jocelyn, you’re both becoming more beautiful each day. You possess the best qualities among the ladies of the Imperial Capital. Just what I expected of a young lady from the Smith Family."
Hayden smiled faintly. "You’re too kind, Mr. Johnson. You took good care of me."
"Look at Hayden, Finn. She’s becoming more considerate and thoughtful. We won't need to worry about her getting married in the future," Sophia said, glancing at Nikolai.
Finn nodded with a smile but didn't say anything.
"Hayden." Finally, Nikolai snapped out of his daze and looked at Hayden with a grin.
Hayden smiled gently and turned to Nikolai, politely asking, "Nikolai, have you fully recovered after these few months?"
"Yes, I’ve fully recovered." Nikolai immediately nodded repeatedly.
"That's good!" Hayden smiled tenderly. "I was still feeling guilty about the accident where Southern accidentally injured you last time. But now that I see you've recovered, I don't have to blame myself as much."
"Yes, you don't have to blame yourself." Nikolai nodded with a big smile again, patting his chest. "You see, I'm even healthier now than before."
"Yes, I can see that," Hayden smiled and said to Finn and Sophia, "Finn, Ma’am. Jocelyn and I will go upstairs to change."
"Alright, go ahead!" Sophia smiled lovingly.
Hayden nodded and led Jocelyn upstairs.
"Nikolai was staring at you. He's so disgusting. Why did you say those things to him?" Jocelyn exclaimed angrily once they were upstairs and in the room.
"Acting requires attention to detail. You wouldn't understand." Hayden let go of Jocelyn's hand and walked to the wardrobe. She took out a loose outfit and said while changing, "Maybe I really do need to marry Nikolai. He'll be your brother-in-law then."
"You're joking. Nikolai is a pig," Jocelyn said in surprise.
Hayden glanced at her and couldn't help but chuckle. "There’s no need to get so worked up."
"Will you also be acting when you marry that pig, Nikolai?" Jocelyn asked again.
Hayden changed her top and walked up to Jocelyn, raising her hand to tuck her long hair behind her ear. She reminded her again, "Jocelyn, we have no other choice now. It would help if you remembered what I said. If we want to achieve our goal, we have to be ruthless."
"But marrying Nikolai is too ruthless." Jocelyn pouted, feeling sad for Hayden.
Hayden, however, smiled and shook her head. "If I can get married, I can also get divorced."
"Are you saying you’ll divorce Nikolai that after you have control of the company?" Jocelyn asked.
"Yes, that's what I mean." Hayden nodded.
It wasn’t just that. She also wanted to take back everything the Johnson family had taken from the Smith Family.
"But how many years will that take?" Jocelyn pouted.
Hayden smiled. "You just need to cooperate with me and act in front of everyone, do you understand?"
"Yes, I’ll do everything you say."
"Go change your clothes and come downstairs."
"Okay."
A month later, Hayden started working at The Smith Group with Finn. She was assigned to the Business Department and became an employee there.
Because Hayden had been low-key before, Mia had protected her well, so no one in the Business Department, except the Minister, knew she was from the Smith Group.
In the morning, Finn handed Hayden over to Minister Maddox and told him to mentor her.
After all, she was his daughter, and since she had entered the company, Finn didn't want Hayden to become a joke. He wanted her to be his pride.
"Would you like me to take you around the department so everyone can get to know you?" After leaving Finn's office and entering the elevator, Minister Maddox looked at Hayden and asked for her opinion.
