Chapter 252

Today, Gabriel was at Capital Construction. On her way there from the Language Academy, Teresa sat in the back seat of the car, staring blankly out the window, her mind consumed with thoughts of Gabriel’s health. Her heart felt numb, as if it had stopped beating.

She urged the driver to go faster, and when the car finally stopped at Capital Construction’s office building, she darted out. Ignoring the surprised looks and greetings, she made a beeline for the private elevator. It seemed she heard none of their calls.

The private elevator reached she slipped inside, pressing the button for the top level. As it shot upwards at a blazing pace, only heaven knew how much she yearned to see Gabriel and to fling herself into his embrace, holding him tight.

She was determined that in this lifetime, they should never be apart.

But as the elevator ascended, making its way at nearly ten meters per second, Teresa felt, for the first time, that it was moving excruciatingly slow.

Eyes glued to the panel’s rapidly changing numbers, she nearly bolted out when the elevator chimed its arrival at the top floor, and the doors slid open.

“Good morning, Mrs. Garcia,” a secretary called out as she emerged.

The secretarial team, catching Teresa bursting from the private lift, quickly stood and greeted her respectfully.

Teresa gave them a nod and rushed toward Gabriel’s office without a moment’s delay. Yet, when she arrived, the room was empty.

‘Where could he be?’

“Are you looking for Gabriel, Mrs. Garcia? He’s in a meeting,” Skylar informed her with a smile, catching up to her just as she was about to dash into the lounge.

“Which conference room?” Teresa spun around, eyes locking with Skylar’s.

“The first one. Let me show you,” Skylar said with a respectful grin, gesturing for Teresa to follow.

“All right.” Teresa nodded, striding ahead toward the first conference room. It was also at the top level but several meters from Gabriel’s office. Skylar tried to keep pace, following behind, but Teresa’s urgency stretched the gap between them, forcing Skylar to run to keep up.

Reaching the conference room doors, Teresa couldn’t wait for Skylar to announce her. She pushed the hefty double doors, and they swung open with a resounding thud.

Inside, around thirty to forty senior managers were deep in discussion, intently listening to a senior vice president’s project report. The sudden sound drew all eyes to the door.

Stunned for a moment upon seeing Teresa, they took in her expression of sheer urgency. Inside, they all wondered what happened.

“Gabriel,” she said.

In the expansive conference room, Gabriel sat at the head of the oval table, his demeanor relaxed. When Teresa appeared at the door, a wave of joy instantly lit up his eyes. Without hesitation and with great affection, he called out to her, rose from his executive chair, and strode toward her with long steps.

“Darling,” Teresa said, unable to contain her excitement, as she ran into Gabriel’s arms, enveloping him in an embrace.

Seeing Teresa so boldly show her affection in front of so many people, Gabriel was over the moon. He disregarded the stares around them, returned her embrace, and kissed the crown of her head before announcing to the room, “Let’s take a ten-minute break, everyone.”

After addressing the crowd, he turned back to Teresa, who still clung to him, her face buried in his chest, and smiled warmly. “What brings you here all of a sudden?” he asked gently.

He was so elated that he hadn’t noticed anything unusual about Teresa.

Though Gabriel had called for a ten-minute break, everyone sat frozen in their seats, watching the couple with wide eyes.

Recently, there had been a commotion about Gabriel and Kay Baxter, and rumors had swirled that Kay had been the one pursuing him. Most people were skeptical, suspecting trouble between Teresa and Gabriel.

After all, Gabriel was a man who had it all, and it wouldn’t be a shock if he had some dalliance away from his wife at home.

But now, witnessing the couple’s passionate reunion, so sweet and inseparable, everyone was finally convinced that Kay had truly brought the trouble on herself.

Teresa held on to him tightly before managing to calm herself and looking up at Gabriel. She began to speak but then realized that they were still in the conference room, and everyone seemed to be watching them.

Glancing to the side, she found a group of senior executives—all well into their forties—staring at them intently.

Teresa’s cheeks flushed with slight embarrassment.

A senior executive, unable to hide his delight, chimed in with a grin, “Ah, Mr. and Mrs. Garcia really do have something special, don’t they?”

“Anyone would think Mr. and Mrs. Garcia are lovestruck teenagers with how sweet they are on each other. It’s almost too much for us spectators,” joked another executive, laughing.

Teresa looked around at everyone and, mustering a polite smile, replied, “I apologize for the interruption, everyone.”

“Let’s head back to the office,” said Gabriel.

Teresa suddenly showed up, which, to Gabriel, was a precious moment he didn’t want to squander. He grabbed Teresa’s hand and whisked her away.

“Okay,” Teresa nodded, offering a polite smile and nod to the others before following Gabriel back to his office.

Slam! The office door shut just as Teresa turned to speak. But Gabriel’s hands cradled her face, and before she could react, he leaned, passionately kissing her.

Teresa gazed into the entrancing face so close to hers, offering no resistance, and slowly closed her eyes to reciprocate his advance.
