Chapter 278 Just by Coincidence

After Brian was taken home, the doctors tried everything they could, but there was little they could do – he was permanently disabled. He ended up unable to manage his affairs or have children.

Fortunately for the Bezos clan, they had another son who was well-liked and could carry on the family legacy.

Brian had failed, and it was his own doing. Moreover, everyone knew that crossing the Garcias was a bad idea.

In an attempt to satisfy the Garcias, the Bezos arranged for a doctor to extract the bone marrow from Brian. Afterward, they had it cryogenically delivered to Gabriel.

Teresa hadn't expected the Bezos to be so diligent, to actually get Brian's marrow while he was unable to resist and ship it over, frozen.

If Teresa had been aware of the Bezos's steadfast commitment to the Garcias beforehand, she might have saved herself a lot of anguish.

But now, with Brian taught his lesson and unlikely to cause further harm to others, things didn't seem so bad.

Gabriel's cancer was under control, with no signs of spreading. If the cancer cells in his body were completely eradicated without new ones forming, he might not even require a bone marrow transplant.

However, achieving total eradication of the cancer cells in his body without damaging his vital organs would require at least another six months of treatment.

With Gabriel's condition stable and improving, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. When the weekend came, Teresa took Gabriel and their child to the largest children's amusement park in River North.

Though Katherine had built a playground in their mansion, it paled in comparison to the grandeur of River North's finest.

Moreover, when at home, their child often played alone, but at the park, there were plenty of other kids to play with.

Dressed casually and with sunglasses and baseball caps partially concealing their faces, Teresa and Gabriel arrived at the park virtually unrecognized unless someone took a special interest.

Surrounded by many other joyful children, their little one was over the moon, and together, the family shared a delightfully carefree morning.

After playing all morning, they stopped for lunch around noon at the park's theme restaurant.

Midway through their meal, a sudden outburst of a child's loud crying filled the restaurant.
"Daddy, Mom, look at that little boy over there. He's all alone without his parents. Can we have lunch with him?"

Teresa and Gabriel, along with their child, enjoyed a cozy corner of the restaurant, the most secluded spot there. They were drawn away from their delicious meal by the sound of a child's wailing cry.

Not far from the entrance stood a tiny boy, with tears streaming down his face, crying uncontrollably. Ignored for quite some time, he seemed completely lost.

Teresa's child, with eyes wide, watched the boy for a moment before turning to make a plea.

"Sweetie, he's probably just gotten separated from his parents. They might be looking for him right now. Let's eat our meal like good kids, okay?" Gabriel coaxed, turning their child's face gently toward him for a heart-to-heart.

Still holding a chicken wing, the youngster pondered with pursed lips. After a moment's thought, he asked, "But what if his parents don't come for him? What then?"

"If they don't show up, I'll make sure someone helps to find them. That's a promise," Gabriel assured.

"Mhm," reassured and content, the little one nodded enthusiastically, giving his dad an approving thumbs-up. "You're the best, Dad!"

Across the table, Teresa watched the tender father-son exchange with a smile of pure happiness spreading across her face.

When out with Gabriel and their child, she found herself free from worry. Gabriel had everything under control.

However, the sight of the distressed boy crying alone tugged at her heartstrings.

What sort of parents could be so negligent to lose track of their child at an amusement park?

As minutes passed and the boy's parents were nowhere to be seen, the restaurant's staff tried to console him with food and drink to little avail – the child's sobbing continued unabated.

Seeing the boy upset, Teresa's child quickly climbed down from his seat and scampered over to offer his new bubble machine. "Here, have this, and please stop crying," he offered earnestly.

The boy's tears ceased at the sight of the toy and the caring gesture. Gratefully accepting it, he uttered, "I'm hungry. I want to eat."

"Okay," Teresa's child nodded and gently took the other boy's hand, "We have lots of yummy food. You can eat with us! Come on!"

"Okay, sure!" With no hesitation, the boy allowed himself to be led back to the table by his new friend. As the little boy drew closer, Teresa and Gabriel shared a knowing look.

Well, since Teresa's child had already brought the kid over, they certainly couldn't turn him away. Gabriel discreetly signaled the plainclothes security at the next table to keep an eye out for anyone looking for the child, instructing them to bring anyone searching for him right in.

While Gabriel gave orders to the security personnel, Teresa took care of the two kids, making sure they ate their meals. With age-matched companions, the children were chowing down with delight.

"Russell, Russell!" A frantic woman burst into the restaurant mid-meal, shouting for her son.

At the sound of the commotion, Teresa and Gabriel turned...

"Mommy, Mommy!" The little boy, having a great time eating with Croissant, heard his name and stared at the woman before shouting back—Mommy!

Teresa and Gabriel furrowed their brows in unison, recognizing the child next to them and the woman who had rushed in. It was Unity.
