Chapter 334 No Regrets
<Chapter> Chapter 334 No Regrets</Chapter>
"Is Liam at the hospital, or has he gone off with another woman?"
After Liam's Departure, Faith wasn't having an easy time either back at the Harmonious Prosperity Hotel. She had tormented herself enough.
Fortunately, she had taken an antidote in advance. The drug's effects weren't as potent as what Liam experienced; otherwise, she would've needed to find someone to alleviate the pain.
Once she had regained her composure, she called Finley immediately to inquire about the situation.
Without a glance at Faith's disheveled appearance, Finley kept his head bowed respectfully, "No, Liam went straight to the airport. He didn't stop by the hospital or look for other women."
"What?! Straight to the airport?" Faith was skeptical; the drug she used was very potent, and she couldn't believe Liam could resist its effects.
"Yes, he went straight to the airport."
"Was there another woman with him in the car?" Faith pressed on impatiently.
She realized the woman must have used a lot of perfume because Liam had been so close to her. The smell was strong, reminding her of their close hug, a moment that made everything else fade away. She knew the woman must have doused herself in perfume, considering how closely Liam had been with her. The intensity of the fragrance was undeniable, clinging to the memories of their tight embrace, a moment that seemed to erase all consciousness.
If his phone hadn't suddenly vibrated in his pocket, stirring him to reality, they might have already crossed the line reserved for lovers.
"Yes, there was," Finley admitted, not daring to hide the truth. "Liam was picked up by his executive assistant, Diana. She escorted him to the airport, and they're embarking on a business trip to England together."
"Diana," Faith muttered, her eyes narrowing as she digested Finley's response.
Diana was both Theresa's cousin and best friend. Everyone knew Liam still had feelings for Theresa, but surprisingly, it was Diana who stood by him as his top assistant.Diana was Theresa's cousin and best friend. It was a well-known fact that Liam harbored lingering feelings for Theresa, but it was Diana, of all people, who remained by his side as his top assistant.
Faith noticed Diana treated Liam differently than other assistants. Diana was respectful but not scared of him. They acted more like friends than bosses and subordinates. Faith wondered if Liam and Diana had been intimate in the car.Faith had sensed something different about Diana's demeanor toward Liam, not akin to other assistants. Diana was respectful, sure, yet she seemed unafraid of him. Their interactions were less like boss and subordinate and more akin to friends. Was it possible that Liam had been intimate with Diana in the car?
The thought made Faith's blood boil. Her anger threatened to shatter her restraint like fragile glass. All her careful plotting seemed to pave the way for someone else's happiness.
‘Damn it all!’
"Miss, what should we do now?" Finley asked, his voice quivering under the weight of Faith's palpable rage.
"You're useless! Why didn't you stop them?" Faith lashed out at Finley, venting her frustration. "Get out of here!" she snapped.
"Yes, ma'am," Finley stammered, retreating hastily.
With Liam at the airport, about to depart, what could she possibly do but wait for his return and make amends herself? She didn't believe that Liam could remain so heartless if she humbled herself before him.
And Diana? She was just an assistant, like Lauren, nothing more than another conquest. Faith couldn't fathom that Liam would wed Diana in the end.
...
At the airport, Diana changed into her traveling attire and proceeded to check in with Liam—luggage, boarding passes, and security. Since they were flying first-class, they passed through the VIP channels and soon settled in the exclusive lounge.
No sooner had Diana sat down than her phone rang; it was Douglas calling. A flicker of unease prompted her to glance at Liam, sitting beside her without a clue.
At that moment, Liam glanced at her as well. Their eyes briefly met, causing Diana to feel awkward, so she quickly looked away. Standing up with her phone, she went to a corner to take a call.Just then, Liam was looking at her, too. Their eyes met in a fleeting moment, and feeling an awkward pang, Diana quickly averted her gaze. Standing up with her cell phone in hand, she moved to a corner to answer a call.
Watching her flustered motions, Liam was sure of one thing.: Diana still had feelings for him.
As long as she had feelings for him, he had a plan.
"Hello?" In a calm voice, Diana answered the call.
"Sweetheart, have you made it to the airport yet?"
"Yeah, I just arrived. I'm waiting to board," she replied, as Douglas's tender voice filled her with undeniable guilt.
"It's pretty cold over in the UK; I've packed some cold medicine in your suitcase, just in case. And if you need more clothes, buy them there; I'll reimburse you," advised Douglas, still gentle as ever.
"Yeah, I got it. When did you start nagging like an old lady?" Diana felt guiltier by the second, eager to end the conversation. "I have to board soon. Gotta go."
"AlrightAll right, love you! Make sure you're back by Christmas Eve."
"I'll try! Bye now."
"Take care," Douglas said, giving his final word of caution.
"Sure," agreed Diana, hanging up the phone.
Holding her phone and staring at a vibrant hydrangea in front of her, Diana suddenly felt lost in thought.
If Liam was serious, should she choose Douglas or Liam?
If she chose Liam, he would marry her.
Liam, marry her!
In a swift change of heart, she furrowed her brows and instantly turned, heading out of the waiting room.
"Diana," Liam called out after her as she marched out without a word.
Stopping, she turned around.
"What's up?" Liam asked, approaching her.
"I need to find a pharmacy," she said clearly, looking directly at him.
Liam reached out to hold her hand. "Diana, I'm serious this time."
"So am I, Liam," she replied, shaking her head and pulling her hand away.
"AlrightAll right, I respect that," said Liam, managing a small smile. "Let me get the medicine for you while you wait here."
"Thanks." She nodded.
With a smile, Liam headed off.
