Chapter 245

The necklace, chosen by Tessa during a trip to Washington D.C., had already been spoken for, but he had bought it for a premium because Tessa wanted it.

Now, it meant nothing.

So, picking up the necklace, Liam tossed it into the trash bin without a second thought.

Half an hour later, Diana came in with some documents for Liam to sign. A casual glance at the trash can revealed a necklace—her necklace—carelessly discarded. She could barely hold back the tears, her eyes reddening with emotion.

Fortunately, Liam quickly signed the papers and handed them back to her.

Taking the documents, she all but fled the room.

The necklace she had once worn was now treated like garbage.

Could it be that, in Liam’s eyes, she was just as disposable?

...

“Please, Yvonne! Help me. I can only count on you now!” Kay Baxter pleaded in front of Yvonne, groveling at her feet like a desperate puppy.

Ever since her scandal with Gabriel erupted, Kay’s life had spiraled downwards. The internet was flooded with every negative story about her, her contracts were terminated, and she faced an avalanche of hefty fines.

The court had frozen all her assets, which were being auctioned off to cover her debts. She became like a villain straight out of a crime drama, universally loathed and condemned.

Now, she understood the terrifying power of the wealthy.

With just a word, they could ruin an average person’s entire life.

Yvonne sat at the dining table, savoring her luxurious dinner, completely ignoring Kay’s pathetic pleas at her feet. With a wave of her hand, she coldly instructed the bodyguard, “Get her out of here. It’s sickening. And make sure she never comes near me again.”

“Yvonne! Yvonne, you can’t just leave me in this mess. Remember, it’s you who told me to seduce...” Kay blurted out in panic.

“Shut up!”

Before Kay could finish, Yvonne slammed her fork down on the table and sharply cut her off. She turned to the trembling figure beside her and asked icily, “Kay, think carefully. Was it you who chose to seduce Gabriel, or did I command you?”

Back when she was still Mrs. Evans, she could never challenge the Garcia family. Now that she was no longer holding that title, how could she possibly take them on?

But she wasn’t in a rush. She had time, and she was determined to see Teresa fall from grace in the Garcia family’s eyes and become a pariah.

“It was all me. It was my own doing,” Kay stammered, stricken with fear. She was already down and out. Offending Yvonne further would be the end of her. Nodding emphatically, she changed her tune. “Yvonne, please, for all the times I’ve done as you’ve asked, help me just this once more, just one last time.”

“What happens if I don’t help you?” Yvonne asked with a chilling smile, eyeing Kay, “You wouldn’t go running to Gabriel and stir up trouble, would you?”

“Of course not!” Kay quickly shook her head, visibly terrified.

She wasn’t that foolish. Even if she told Gabriel that Yvonne had prompted her seduction attempt, Gabriel wouldn’t take her back. If Yvonne ever found out, Kay knew her fate would be sealed.

“Really?” Yvonne pressed.

Kay nodded fervently. “Truly, Yvonne, I swear I won’t breathe a word of this to anyone,” she promised.

“Good, very good!” Yvonne nodded approvingly and then turned to her bodyguard. “Take her to Mr. Lynch,” she ordered.

“Look, Kay, Mr. Lynch has a soft spot for beauties. If you take good care of him, maybe you’ll see better days ahead, understood?” Yvonne advised, lifting Kay’s chin with a sly smile after instructing the bodyguard.

To the world, Kay was an A-list celebrity, but in the eyes of the wealthy elite, she was nothing more than a lapdog.

“Mr.... Mr. Lynch, which one are you talking about?” Kay stammered cautiously.

The Mr. Lynch she knew had a notorious reputation. Whoever ended up in his bed often left, if at all, barely clinging to life.

“What, you’re not willing?” Yvonne’s face turned stern in an instant.

“Yes, I’ll, I’ll go!” Perhaps, Kay thought, this was her last chance, even if it cost her dearly. Swiftly, she nodded again.

“Good girl, then off you go!” With that, Yvonne gave her bodyguard a look.

Despite her divorce from Tyler, she still held 15% equity in Evans Group, making her the company’s second-largest shareholder.

The bodyguard grasped Kay, leading her away.

Watching Kay being taken, Yvonne let out a cold laugh, then picked up her silverware and resumed her elegant dinner.

For a woman in Kay’s straits, a visit to Mr. Lynch’s was often a one-way trip.

It was a good riddance, Yvonne thought. There would be less trouble for her.

“Madam, the guest has arrived,” another bodyguard reported with respect.

“Mm, take him to the room. Make sure he’s cleaned up, give him something to eat, and let him wait for me,” Yvonne instructed without even glancing up.

“Yes,” the bodyguard nodded, turning to carry out his orders, but he couldn’t help muttering to himself. Yvonne, in her fifties, certainly knew how to live it up, cycling through young heartthrobs every couple of weeks to keep her company.

“By the way, how are Tessa and Liam doing?” Yvonne asked her butler after the bodyguard had left, as if suddenly remembering something.

“Don’t worry, Madam, everything is going smoothly.”
