Chapter 374

With that, he turned and strode back towards the hospital room with his long legs. However, after a few steps, he casually instructed Luke, "Have someone bring Unity's phone to the hospital."

"Yes, Gabriel."

Diana stood still, watching as Gabriel finished talking to Luke, then continued towards the elevator.

Despite the calm facade, her insides were roiling with anxiety like never before.

Entering the elevator, the doors began to close slowly; her expression collapsed entirely. Diana took a deep breath, her legs barely supporting her as she leaned against the elevator wall.
However, upon realizing there were surveillance cameras in the elevator, she quickly composed herself and appeared as if nothing had happened.

The elevator soon reached the ground floor, and the doors slid open. With a graceful stride, she walked out with the composed ease of someone attending to everyday business.

On the other side, after Gabriel returned to the hospital room, he found Teresa resting against the headboard, her gaze lowered, her eyes dim, seemingly lost in thought.

Gabriel watched her for a moment before sitting down at her bedside. Then, without any hint of awkwardness, he leaned down and gently kissed her forehead, his deep, rich voice softly asking, "Sweetheart, what's on your mind?"

Teresa hadn't expected his kiss, and by the time she thought to pull away, it was already too late.

Yet, to her surprise, she didn't find his kiss objectionable. In fact, it almost felt familiar, as if his kisses were something she had grown accustomed to.

Could he have often kissed her like this before?

Looking at Gabriel's enchantingly handsome face up close, Teresa bit her lip thoughtfully before asking, "Gabriel, can you tell me why I have all these injuries and why there's pain here? What exactly happened?"

That morning, when she had woken up, every movement pulled at a painful spot.

Just now, she had accidentally touched her chest and winced in pain. Upon lifting her shirt for a closer look, she saw, to her shock, that her body was covered in wounds. Although they had been treated and were not severe, their sheer number was unsettling and sparked wonder.

How had she gotten all these injuries?

Gabriel's gaze, formerly bright, quickly clouded over.

Teresa was no fool. Upon discovering the almost ferocious injuries on her body, she was bound to have questions.

Even though Teresa's medicine was the finest available, healing takes time; scars like these will not vanish in a day or two.

Reaching out, Gabriel took Teresa's cool hand in his, his eyes filled with remorse as he slowly said, "Sweetheart, I'm sorry. It's all my fault."

Teresa looked at him, a slight frown on her brow, forgetting to pull her hand away, and pressed him further, "What exactly happened? Why am I so injured, and why can't I remember anything? What did you do to me?"

"I..." Gabriel's expression tightened, "I went out last night, and someone drugged me. By the time I insisted on making it home, I had almost completely lost my mind. The injuries on you, they are all..."

"All caused by you?!" Teresa's gaze fixed on him, her surprise interrupting him mid-sentence.

She had seen all sorts of wild scenarios on television and in romance novels.
Gabriel never expected that such an event could happen to him and Teresa.

Watching her, Gabriel's brow quivered slightly as he nodded profoundly.

"Huh..." Staring at him, Teresa was shocked and furious yet at a loss for words. In the end, all she could muster was an indecipherable chuckle before turning her head away.

The explanation didn't sound too far-fetched after all.

Considering that her darling had managed to make it home, choosing her over other messy encounters was truly commendable.

Moreover, a man like Gabriel, just with his looks and presence, could make countless women flock to him, let alone the fact that he was Gabriel.

So, the idea that he got unwittingly drugged while out socializing wasn't surprising.

Putting it all together like that, it seemed reasonable, to the point where she didn't even have the right to be angry.

"Sweetheart, I'm so sorry!" Gabriel clutched Teresa's hand, bowed his head, and passionately kissed the back of her hand. "I know you're mad. Once you're feeling better, any way you want to hit me, yell at me, punish me, I'll take it! Please don't ignore me, okay?"

"Gabriel, let go!" Suddenly, Teresa turned back to him, glaring fiercely as she commanded in a cold voice.

Gabriel knew Teresa too well; if he didn't release her hand, she would definitely struggle.

Obediently, with reluctance, he let go.

"Tell me, what's with this amnesia?" Teresa asked again, trying to stay calm as she watched his hand withdraw.

"It was just us being too rough, and accidentally, you hit your head," Gabriel replied without a hint of inconsistency in his eyes or on his face.

"Get out!" It wasn't that Teresa didn't believe him; she was just still overwhelmed by anger. "Now, right now, immediately, get out!"

"Sweetheart."

"Out!" Before Gabriel could speak further, Teresa cut him off with another command.

"Then I'll have Mom come stay with you and the baby."

"Out!"

"Fine, I'm going. I'm leaving now." Fearing Teresa's wrath might aggravate her injuries, Gabriel stood swiftly, turned, and left, looking back longingly at every step.

Teresa glared furiously after him until his figure disappeared at the door. Then she let out a deep breath, and the rage in her eyes slowly subsided.

Just how much stamina did Gabriel, that dog of a man, have to wear her out to this extent?

And how much must she love Gabriel, that bastard, to let him torment her like this?
Either she was hopelessly dumb, or she was hopelessly in love with him.

But judging from the current situation, she wasn't beyond help in terms of intelligence, but rather an amnesiac who was irrevocably in love with Gabriel.

This bastard, this stinking rascal, she would not let him touch her for at least a year.

With that thought, Teresa felt much better.

Outside the hospital room, Gabriel had been standing guard, not leaving for a moment. Soon, Luke came with Teresa's cell phone, handing it to him with respect.

Just as he could unlock his phone, he had no trouble unlocking Teresa's.

Taking her phone, he unlocked it, opened her messaging app, and found her college friends' group chat.

Sure enough, the conversation that had been taking place the day before was all about Teresa.

But as Gabriel scrolled through the messages, he noticed that it was Diana who had steered the conversation toward Teresa.

Continuing to look back, he saw that for nearly two months, no one had mentioned Teresa, and she had not spoken in the group, effectively remaining invisible.

Yet, in yesterday's messages, Diana had brought Teresa into the conversation, provoking her to speak up.

Was this unintentional or deliberate?

If it was intentional, then it only meant Diana was far more cunning and manipulative than he thought.

However, upon reflection, Gabriel couldn't fathom why Diana would have any motive to harm Teresa.
