Chapter 505 The Story of William and Hayden (106)
After Jeffrey left, only William and the driver remained in the car. The driver didn't know what William was planning to do and didn't dare ask. They could only wait together. The driver gradually started to doze off since it was warm inside the car,.
Time seemed to pass, and driver, who was half-asleep, suddenly heard a voice from the backseat saying, "Start the car, follow them."
The driver woke up with a start and saw Hayden and the other two getting into a black commercial vehicle again. He quickly gently pressed the accelerator and drove after the car in front.
After Hayden and Maddox arrived at the branch office, they were in a meeting for nearly two hours.
Although Hayden and Maddox had come to negotiate and sign the contract, the branch office still managed the main project.
When the meeting ended, it was almost lunchtime. Mr. Blair said that he had already reserved a private room at a restaurant to treat Hayden and Maddox to a meal.
Hayden naturally accepted the invitation to a meal with her colleagues, especially since she was actually quite hungry.
Ever since she had gotten pregnant, she noticed that her appetite had increased, especially in the past two weeks.
However, as soon as she got out of the elevator, she glanced up through the clear glass wall of the building and saw the black Mercedes still parked outside, which caught her off guard.
Her breath hitched for a moment, and her heart skipped a beat.
She knew that William was a calm and composed person. He wouldn't act so recklessly.
But she was still worried. If she walked out, would William get out of the car and rush over to pull her away?
If that happened, how could she make him give up?
Hayden walked out of the building, feeling extremely conflicted.
However, what she was worried about didn't happen. William didn't get out of the car; instead, he continued to follow them after their car started moving.
She didn't understand what he was doing. But Hayden felt relieved because he hadn't rushed out of the car to grab her.
The car drove into underground parking lot of the restaurant building. After their vehicle stopped for a moment, William's car arrived again and parked not far away from them.
"Who are the people in that car? I should go look!" Mr. Blair said. He felt uneasy about the black Mercedes that had been boldly following them.
"No need!" Hayden quickly stopped him and smiled lightly. "I'm hungry; let's go upstairs and eat." Mr. Blair was no fool. Hayden stopped him from going to find out who was in the black Mercedes twice. She must have already guessed who the person in the car was, and the person in the car must have something to do with her.
So, Mr. Blair immediately smiled. "Yes, let's eat!"
Hayden nodded and glanced through the front windshield of the Mercedes, examining the the back seat. Then, she walked toward the elevator.
Maddox glanced in the direction of the Mercedes. His lips curved, but he followed Hayden.
Mr. Blair had booked a separate VIP room, so Hayden didn't have to worry about William barging in. He hadn't gotten out of the car to stop her, so he probably wouldn’t rashly barge into the room.
However, when they finished ordering their food and the dishes were brought to the table, two extra dishes inexplicably appeared.
"We didn't order these two dishes." Mr. Blair looked puzzled.
"It's not a mistake. Our manager specially instructed us to send them to you all as a gift." The waiter smiled respectfully.
"Does your restaurant belong to the Queen's Avenue Group?" Hayden asked, unable to hold back.
"Yes, our restaurant is under the Queen's Avenue Group," The waiter proudly replied.
Maddox looked at Hayden and then at Mr. Blair, immediately saying with a smile, "Since the restaurant manager has given us this, we shouldn’t stand on ceremony. Let's eat."
With that, he picked up his fork, picked up a piece of beef, and put it in the small plate in front of Hayden. Hayden thanked him, picked up her fork, and placed the meat into her mouth.
Suddenly, she couldn't control herself and almost burst into tears.
Quickly, she lowered her head and desperately controlled her emotions.
This was what William used to make, and it tasted the same.
These were the two dishes she had loved the most in Southern.
"Sylvia, are you okay? Do you feel alright?" Mr. Blair was extremely careful with Hayden. He was afraid of neglecting her and making her unhappy.
That was why he turned his attention to her quickly when he saw her eyes suddenly becoming red.
"It's nothing. Maybe it's too spicy. I wasn't used to it for a moment." Hayden immediately adjusted her mood. She raised her head and smiled, her face and eyes showing no trace of unusual emotions.
Maddox, who was sitting next to her, glanced at her, picked up the teapot to pour a cup of tea for Hayden, and instructed the waiter next to him, "Bring a glass of juice."
"Okay, sir, what kind of juice would you like?" the waiter asked.
Hayden smiled at Maddox and replied, "Orange juice."
"Alright, please wait a moment," the waiter said and promptly left. In no time, he returned with a large glass of freshly squeezed juice.
Hayden picked it up, took a sip, and immediately knew that William had made the orange juice too.
She liked it sweet, and in the South, every time William made her orange juice, he would add a few drops of lemon and a spoonful of honey.
"You guys go ahead and eat; I'll go to the bathroom." After a few sips of orange juice, Hayden made an excuse and got up, heading straight out.
For some reason, all she could think about now was seeing William.
She wanted to see him. She was almost going wild with the desire to see him.
He had cornered her in the bathroom last time at the Hart family, and he could do the same this time.
She was overthinking it. There was no need to go to the bathroom this time.
When she opened the door of the private room and walked out, she immediately saw William. He held an unlit cigarette between his fingers. His suit jacket was off, and he was only wearing a white shirt and waistcoat. He leaned against the opposite wall of the private room, his deep eyes narrowing as he fixed his gaze on her.
She momentarily stopped breathing, and her heartbeat almost stopped.
It had been over a month, and he seemed to have gotten thinner again. His warm and gentle gaze looked the same as before, yet also different—it was more profound, like a black hole that would suck you in if you looked at it for too long.
Their gazes intertwined in the air, and after three or four seconds, Hayden finally snapped out of it. She tried her best to control her emotions and walked in the direction of the bathroom as if she hadn't seen William at all.
However, just as she passed William, a warm hand grabbed her wrist. It pulled her forcefully, causing her to fall into a warm and broad chest. He took her into another vacant private room.
It wasn't until the door of the private room was closed that Hayden regained her senses and looked up abruptly.
"You lied to me. Our child is still here, isn't he?" William looked at Hayden, who was just a breath away in his arms. His palm caressed a spot on her abdomen, his eyes burning with desire, wanting to expose Hayden.
Although it was a question, William was certain.
Hayden looked at the handsome face she had missed so much above her head, unable to hold back the tears in her eyes, which had turned red in an instant.
But she immediately lowered her head and forcefully shook off William's hand on her abdomen, sneering with a heavy hint of sarcasm. "Who do you think you are, William? Why should I have a child for you?"
At this moment, Hayden finally understood that seeing him was worse than not seeing him at all.
Because seeing each other had only caused deeper and crueler harm.
"When did you become afraid to tell the truth, Hayden? When did you become so foolish?" Suddenly, William couldn't restrain his anger.
He didn't ask for anything else. He only wanted Hayden to be honest with him.
But unfortunately, Hayden wouldn’t give that to him.
She quickly adjusted her emotions and looked up again. In Hayden's eyes, there was only mockery, even contempt. She smiled sarcastically and asked, "Are you good enough, William?"
