Chapter 509 William and Hayden (110)
"Sylvia, I'm back."
Maddox returned to the suite and closed the door behind him. He noticed that the door to the main bedroom was open, but there was no sound. He called out, but heard no response from Hayden.
Maddox placed the takeout in his hand on the table and casually took off his coat, putting it on the sofa. Then, he headed towards the main bedroom.
When he arrived in front of the main bedroom door, he knocked but still received no response.
"Sylvia?" Maddox became uneasy and stood outside the door, calling out again.
But there was still no response.
Suddenly, Maddox frowned.
Could she be taking a shower?
Maddox turned around and decided to set up the takeout and beer first.
However, as soon as he turned around, he suddenly felt that something was wrong. He immediately turned back and looked into the main bedroom.
"Sylvia!" Maddox was startled when he saw Hayden lying unconscious on the carpet by the bed. He quickly walked over, picked Hayden up, and lightly tapped her cheek. "Sylvia, wake up!"
But Hayden didn't respond. Her face was also particularly pale. Even though she was unconscious, there was a layer of sweat on her forehead.
Maddox realized the situation was urgent and immediately took out his phone to dial the emergency number.
As soon as the call ended, he wasted no time. He immediately picked up Hayden and rushed outside.
At the hospital, William waited outside the emergency room, backlit and standing tall. His handsome face was hidden in the shadows, making it impossible to tell his emotions at this moment.
He was afraid that Patrick and Sophia would be too worried, so William kept the news hidden from them for now and didn't tell them about Teresa's injury.
Fortunately, after a while, a doctor came out of the emergency room and told him that Teresa's injury was not serious. It was just a fracture in her left hand and some minor injuries.
William breathed a sigh of relief.
Teresa was seven years younger than him and had only just turned eighteen. Her life had not begun yet.
If something happened to her because of him, he would never forgive himself.
However, just as he relaxed, the elevator door opened not far away, and medical personnel pushed a rolling bed out of the elevator and hurried toward another emergency room where William was.
When he glanced over, his deep eyes instantly darkened, and he immediately looked at the person on the bed.
The woman on bed was Hayden!
William hurriedly walked over.
Hayden lay on the bed, eyes closed, face pale, motionless.
"Hayden!" William instinctively grabbed Hayden's hand and looked at her, his handsome brows furrowing tightly.
Her hand was icy cold, and when William held her hand, the warmth seemed to fade from his entire body as well.
Maddox followed closely behind, watching William's nervous, worried, and fearful expression, and became even more certain of the relationship between those two.
"Hayden, Hayden!" William held Hayden's hand tightly, but she didn't respond at all. William's other hand gently stroked her pale cheek. "Hayden, wake up!"
As they were talking, the medical staff pushed Hayden to the entrance of the emergency room. William wanted to follow, but the medical staff stopped him.
"Sir, please stop."
William suddenly looked up and glanced at the doctor in front of him. He frowned and then looked at Hayden, who was unresponsive on the bed. He quickly let go of her hand and watched as she was pushed into the emergency room.
When the doors of the emergency room closed, he suddenly realized something and immediately turned around. He grabbed Maddox by the collar and looked at him, unable to control the veins bulging on his forehead. He angrily asked, "What happened to her? Why is she unconscious?"
Maddox looked at the furious William in front of him, but instead of getting annoyed, he smirked and said, "Shouldn't I be asking you that, William?"
"What do you mean?" William asked angrily. His rationality had vanished.
"When I came back, I found Sylvia unconscious in the main bedroom," Maddox said, smiling again. He asked, "Didn't you see Sylvia or argue with her when I was away?"
As he looked at him, William's originally angry and icy eyes suddenly darkened. He gradually loosened his grip on Maddox's collar and let go.
Hayden had been fine when he left. Why had she passed out?
Outside the emergency room, William turned around and looked at the closed doors. He frowned, placing one hand against the wall. He briefly thought about banging his head against the wall.
Jeffrey stood by, observing William. It was obvious that, William was more anxious and concerned about Hayden than he was about his beloved sister Teresa, who had just been pushed into the operating room.
Although Jeffrey was not aware of the Southern incident between William and Hayden, he knew that Hayden had lived with William during their time in Southern. Hayden had answered the phone when he called William on two occasions. He had also heard Hayden's voice when he called William several times.
However, he needed help understanding what exactly had happened in between. Since William returned to the country, he had almost lost contact with Hayden, and they had gone their separate ways.
He thought that William and Hayden had broken up.
However, from everything William had done for Hayden today and his current state, it was clear to Jeffrey was clear that even if they had broken up, it was probably Hayden's decision.
Before long, the doors of the emergency room opened, and the nurses pushed Teresa out from inside.
However, she had a broken arm and had been under anesthesia during the surgery, so she was still unconscious and hadn't woken up.
"Miss Teresa is alright now, William." Jeffrey immediately approached William when he saw Teresa.
William turned around and glanced at Teresa, instructing, "You go to the ward and sit with Teresa."
"Yes, William." Jeffrey nodded and, together with the medical staff, pushed Teresa toward the VIP ward.
Maddox was curious about why William was outside the emergency room. But he understood what was going on after he saw Teresa and heard their conversation.
That "Miss Teresa" must be William's sister!
Teresa Pavilion in River North was a favorite restaurant of the elites, owned by the Queen's Avenue group. It must be connected to this young woman from the Bennett family.
Jeffrey pushed Teresa away, leaving only William and Maddox outside the emergency room. The two of them didn't speak, and silence spread infinitely in the dimly lit hospital corridor in the middle of the night.
"Clatter..." After what felt like a century in silence, finally, another door of the emergency room opened, and a doctor came out, shouting, "Who is the patient's family?"
"I am!" Before Maddox could react, William quickly stepped forward to respond.
"You’re her husband, but you agitated her while she was pregnant. Or was it that you didn't even know she was pregnant?" The doctor, a woman in her forties, noticed William's nervous demeanor. As a woman and a doctor, she couldn't help but reprimand him for not caring about Hayden.
"I'm sorry, it was my fault. How is my wife now?" William was extremely anxious at this moment. Apologizing was an automatic response for him.
"She's experiencing some bleeding and signs of a miscarriage. Try not to stress the patient for the next two to three months,. Keep her emotions stable and keep her in a positive mood. She should rest more, limit physical activity, and pay attention to her nutrition." The doctor quickly gave William a long list of instructions .
"Alright, thank you, doctor." William quickly nodded in gratitude and asked again, "Is my wife awake now?"
The doctor nodded. "She's awake. We’ll observe her in the ward for two days. If there are no issues, she can be discharged."
"Okay." William sighed with relief and nodded his thanks again. "Thank you, doctor."
The doctor nodded and then turned to enter the emergency room again.
