Chapter 343 An Energetic Performance

Diana only took a three-day break, returning to work on the fourth day of the new year. However, with everyone still in holiday mode, there wasn't much work to be done, so she left promptly at six in the evening.Diana only took three days off, and by the fourth day of the new year, she was back at work.

However, since everyone was still celebrating the new year, there wasn't much to do, so she left right at six in the evening.

"Liam, do you need anything else? If not, I'll head out," Diana said, approaching Liam in his office before leaving for the day.

Sitting in his executive chair, Liam looked up at her as she spoke. He closed his laptop, stood up, and grabbed his suit jacket from the chair's backrest. "Let's go together," he said calmly.

Diana watched him, a smile blooming on her face. She didn't refuse; she merely stood there quietly, waiting for him to join her.

Liam donned his jacket, turned off the office lights, and, together with Diana, they made their way toward the elevator.

Buzz—

As they reached the private elevator, Liam went to press the button, and Diana's phone vibrated in her pocket. She pulled it out and saw a text from Douglas.

[I'm downstairs at Evans Group. Waiting to have dinner with you.]

"We're here." Liam's voice pulled her from her phone as the elevator doors slid open.

"Oh," she responded, snapping back to the present and quickly stepping into the elevator.

"Got plans tonight? If not, how about we grab dinner together?" Liam asked with a casual smile once the elevator door closed and began its descent.

Diana looked up, surprised for a moment. This was the first time Liam had invited her to dinner alone since she started working with him.Diana looked up, taken aback for a moment. This was the first time Liam had invited her to dinner alone since she had been working with him.

"Is this a boss inviting his employee?" she asked with a light laugh after her surprise faded.

"No," Liam replied, his answer clear and certain.

Diana looked down, smiling. She really wanted to accept, but after a moment's hesitation, she respectfully declined, "I'm sorry, Liam, my boyfriend is waiting for me downstairs."

"Another time, then," Liam replied, unbothered, and he offered no further insistence.

But after his words, he looked away, his smile fading from his face as he withdrew his gaze from Diana.

Standing beside him, Diana chose not to say anything more.

Soon, the elevator chimed and reached the ground floor. Liam and Diana exited one after the other, heading toward the main entrance.

"Baby!"

As they stepped outside, a familiar voice called out, and Diana turned to see Douglas approaching briskly, carrying a bunch of bright blue flowers. As they stepped outside, a very familiar voice called out, and Diana turned to see Douglas approaching briskly with an armful of bright blue flowers in hand.
Liam's deep-set eyes narrowed slightly as he glanced at Douglas, his facial expression neutral, betraying no emotion.

"Sorry, Liam, I've got to run." Diana shot Liam a small smile, leaving behind these words before striding over to Douglas.

"Happy New Year, baby!" As they came closer, Douglas bent down and planted a kiss on Diana's forehead, handing her the bouquet of blue roses he was holding.

"Thank you!" Diana said, accepting the flowers. "Where are we headed?"

"Let's get in the car first." With that, Douglas took her hand and guided her to his vehicle.

Diana gave a soft laugh, casting a seemingly casual look back at Liam before getting into the car with Douglas.

Liam remained still, watching until the car carrying Diana and Douglas drove off. Only then did he curve his lips into an enigmatic smile before walking towards his own car.

"What's wrong? Don't you like the flowers?" Douglas inquired inside the black Range Rover as they drove away, noticing Diana's silence and her less-than-happy expression.

Diana shook her head, "The flowers are beautiful, thank you! But you promised you wouldn't call me 'baby' anymore."

"Heh... I haven't seen you in a few days and got too excited; I forgot." Douglas glanced at her cheerfully, earnestly adding, "I'll change, I promise. Don't be mad, okay?"

"Where are you taking me?" Diana, unfazed by the sternness, changed the subject.

"My folks are really looking forward to meeting you. How about we head to my place?" As he navigated the roads, Douglas stole a quick glance at her, eagerly suggesting.

Diana looked at him but decisively shook her head, "Douglas, aren't we moving a bit fast to be meeting the parents? Besides, you haven't even graduated. Even if we do meet your folks, let's wait until you graduate this summer."

"Diana, I'm serious about you, totally serious," Douglas said, bringing the car to a halt at the red light, turning to face her and holding her hand with utmost sincerity. "If you're willing, as soon as I graduate, we can go get our marriage license."

Looking at him, Diana shook her head, "Douglas, you're still so young. Are you really sure you want to settle down this early?"

"Yeah, I love you. I want to make you my Sweetheart. If we're in love, why not just get married instead of waiting?" Douglas replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Diana smiled at his confidence. So far, Douglas was the first man to be so persistent in expressing his love and desire to marry her.Seeing his certainty made Diana smile.

Up to this point, Douglas was the first man who was so persistent in expressing his love and desire to marry her.

"I think you're just being impulsive," she said.
"Do I look impulsive to you? Or are you worried that because I don't have a solid career yet, being with me doesn't give you a sense of security?" Douglas retorted, looking into her eyes.

Diana nodded without hesitation, "Maybe! You're so young, and being with you, I feel like you don't really belong to me."

"Diana, right now, you're the only one for me. What do I need to do to make you feel secure?" Douglas held Diana's hand to his chest, "Let's go house hunting in a few days. If you like any place, I'll buy it on the spot and put it in your name. How's that?"

With a smile, Diana shook her head and pointed out, "Green light. Time to drive."

"My place?" Douglas probed again.

Still shaking her head, Diana replied, "Not yet. Let's wait a little longer."

Douglas felt powerless, but he couldn't pressure Diana.

Being with Diana always meant prioritizing what she wanted.Douglas felt helpless, but he couldn't force Diana.

Being with Diana, it was always about what she wanted.
