Chapter 185 Can't Help It, Just Have To See You
In the car ride earlier, Gabriel had been thwarted, interrupted at a crucial moment by an important phone call.
Since his plans were postponed, he was determined to have his way back to the hotel.
Gabriel caught Teresa in the bathroom, and they shared a passionate encounter. After being carried out from the bathroom, Teresa soon fell asleep.
In the middle of the night, she was tormented by a nightmare where she saw Gabriel falling into a bottomless abyss. She woke from the dream with a piercing scream.
"Sweetheart, what's wrong?" Gabriel, startled awake by her cry, immediately turned on the bedside lamp and pulled Teresa into his embrace. He wiped the sweat from her forehead and planted a kiss on the crown of her head.
Dazed, it took Teresa a few seconds to realize it had been a dream. Looking up at the familiar, handsome face above her, she instantly hugged Gabriel tightly, burying her face into the crook of his neck, murmuring, "Honey, I had a nightmare."
Gabriel smiled and kissed her forehead, asking, "What did you dream about?"
Teresa pouted a bit distressed, "I dreamed you fell off a cliff, and I couldn't hold on to you."
"Heh..." Gabriel's joy and satisfaction were evident from his amused tone, "Are you suggesting you were the one who pushed me?"
"Stop it!" Teresa lightly punched him, lifting her head from his chest, "I'm being serious, and you're joking around."
"There, there, it's alright. It was just a dream, see, I'm right here, and I'm fine." As he spoke, Gabriel kissed her between the brows once more.
"Darling, why are you sweating? Are you hot?" Teresa felt the sweat on his chest where her hand lay. Gabriel usually slept in just his underwear or nothing at all for convenience; he was evidently feeling hot despite the light clothing.
"Holding you close, how could I not be?" Gabriel stroked her back gently and pecked her nose lightly, "Come on, you've got an exam tomorrow morning, let's get some sleep."
Teresa gave him an affectionate gaze and nodded, settling down wrapped in his arms.
The next two days were Teresa's exam days; she had been preparing thoroughly for the foreign service officer test. The written tests were a breeze for her, and she was confident she hadn't answered a single question incorrectly.
Once the written exam wrapped up, the results would be out in a week, and if she passed, the interviews would be the next hurdle.
After two days of exams, Teresa emerged from the testing center, exhaling a sigh of relief.
Confident as she was, she was never worried about nailing the written section, but this had been a dream long in the making. Now that it was over, she naturally felt a weight lift off her shoulders.
"How was it?" Gabriel asked, wrapping her in an embrace as she got into the car.
Teresa smiled and nodded, "I'm pretty sure I aced it."
Gabriel's fingers gently pinched her chin, planting a kiss on her lips, "My sweetheart is always brilliant."
Teresa glanced at him sideways, "Tonight, I have dinner plans with Hayden and a few other ladies from the capital. I won't be able to join you, so find some fun on your own."
Gabriel frowned, "Sweetheart, what kind of fun should I find?"
She raised an eyebrow, "Whatever makes you happy."
He grinned and then changed the topic. "Are you so set on becoming a diplomat? Is there no room for second thoughts?"
Teresa shook her head without hesitation, "It's a definite no. I've been dreaming of this for a long time." It had been her long kept dream and aspiration to become a diplomat. As an eleven year old, after watching a poised, kind, and impressive female diplomat on TV, she had aspired to become one herself.
Seeing her resolve, Gabriel gave a half smile and circled back to their earlier conversation, "Where are you dining with Hayden and others? I can pick you up after."
Teresa declined, "With so many bodyguards around, you don't need to go out of your way. I'll call you when we're done." Gabriel was genuinely swamped with daily duties. Teresa didn't want him to squander time on the unnecessary.
At that moment, Teresa's phone vibrated in her purse. She pulled it out to see a video call invitation from Katherine; Michael must have been missing them and wanted to video chat.
"Mommy." As soon as she accepted the call, the kid’s adorable face popped up on the screen.
Teresa smiled endearingly, blowing a kiss to the little one on her screen before joining Gabriel in the video chat together.
Back at the hotel, Teresa had her makeup and hair done by stylists, slipped into an ethereal dress, adorned with perfect jewelry, and then left to meet up with the social elites of the city.
Teresa was already an internet sensation, and not just in River North. Socialites from the capital were clamoring for a glimpse of her in the flesh. Therefore, through Hayden, a gathering was arranged, drawing in the crème de la crème of the city's elite.
Behind each of these prominent women stood the backing of a powerful family, and building relationships with them benefited both the Garcias and the Bennetts.
Now that Teresa had entered this exclusive circle, it was only natural for her to acclimate and capitalize on the opportunities it presented to further the interests of her families.
While Teresa graced the top-tier socialite gathering in the capital, Gabriel wasn't about to spend his time idly. He accepted an invitation from a few buddies of the same circle, who were also his college buddies, to join them at an upscale club.
His family’s business wasn't just unrivaled in River North. Capital Construction was the leading conglomerate in the area, and even on a national scale, it ranked among the top five international behemoths, enjoying wide acclaim everywhere.
Upon arriving at the club, Gabriel had barely settled in for a couple of drinks when a line of ten women burst in. They were all similar in height and figure, curvaceous with long legs, dressed in sexy, yet cute and pastel-toned bunny outfits, complete with masks.
