Chapter 141 Shouldn't I Blame and Resent You?
Gabriel glanced down at Teresa in his arms, opened his mouth to say something, but the words just wouldn't come out.
"Alright, thanks." Liam nodded, reassuringly. "She won't bother you again."
Teresa nodded too. She hung out with Gabriel for a bit, listened to them chat about some business stuff, and then they left. The whole thing didn't even take twenty minutes.
"There's something you probably don't know yet," Gabriel said once they got in the car, holding Teresa close with a faint smile.
Teresa was busy replying to messages on her phone, not even looking up. "Go ahead," she said.
"Sweetheart, can you stop messing with your phone and look at me?" Gabriel leaned in, trying to peek at her screen.
Teresa quickly pressed the phone to her chest, giving him a wary look. "What is it? Just say it."
She was chatting with Diana and Hayden about Gabriel and Liam, and there was no way she was letting him see that. He'd go nuts with jealousy.
"Sweetheart, what are you chatting about? Let me see," Gabriel said, trying to sound sweet.
When he leaned over earlier, he caught a glimpse of the group name, "Beautiful Angel Group," and saw Teresa had typed: [That rogue.]
He was dying to know what they were talking about and who she was calling a rogue. He had a pretty good guess it was him.
"I'm chatting with my friends. Why should I let you see?" Teresa shot back, "What is it?"
Gabriel smiled, pulling her closer with his other arm. "Actually, Yvonne isn't Liam's real mom."
Teresa's eyes widened in shock. "Yvonne isn't Liam's real mom? Then who is?"
"I don't know," Gabriel said, kissing her forehead lightly. "All I know is Liam was born to Tyler and another woman. Yvonne's own son died shortly after birth, so she took Liam in and raised him. But not many people know this."
Teresa was stunned. After a few seconds, she asked, "Does Liam know?"
Gabriel nodded. "He should."
Teresa frowned, nodding. "No wonder Yvonne treats Liam like that. It's too much."
"So, why did you agree to let Yvonne go?" Gabriel asked, concerned.
Teresa pouted. "Liam asked me to. What was I supposed to do? Say no like you? Even if she's not his real mom, she raised him. It's normal for Liam to plead for her."
Gabriel furrowed his brows slightly and nodded. "So, you just couldn't say no."
"No." Teresa shook her head, pouting at him. "I was taken from him by you. Don't you feel a bit guilty?"
Gabriel's face lit up with a sweet smile. He leaned in and kissed her deeply. "So, you're doing this to repay Liam a favor."
Teresa glared at him. "What else?"
"Yeah, just to repay him a favor," Gabriel hugged her tightly, resting his chin on her forehead. "Sweetheart, I love you so much."
Teresa was speechless.
After a day's rest, Teresa felt fine and insisted on going to school.
Gabriel was worried and insisted on going with her. But when they got to the classroom and he saw Teresa surrounded by a bunch of students, especially since most of them were guys, he sat at the back with a baseball cap and sunglasses, clearly not happy.
When the first class ended and students swarmed around Teresa again, Gabriel strode over, squeezed next to her, and said coldly, "Teresa hasn't fully recovered yet. She can't stand for long, needs to talk less and rest more."
After addressing the students, he turned to Teresa with extreme gentleness, "Sweetheart, let's find a place to rest."
With that, he scooped her up and walked out of the classroom. Teresa shot him a look.
"Gabriel, what are you doing here? Don't you have work at Capital Construction? Aren't you busy?" she asked, glaring at him as he led her to the car downstairs.
"No matter how busy I am, you're the most important!" Gabriel said, grabbing a thermos from the car, unscrewing it, and bringing it to her lips. "Here, have some hot water."
Teresa rolled her eyes. "I'm not thirsty."
"Then I'll feed you," Gabriel said, taking a sip himself. He gently pinched her chin with his long fingers, lowered his head, and kissed her, transferring the hot water from his mouth to hers.
Teresa glared at him.
Outside the car window, paparazzi were lurking, snapping photos like crazy but keeping their distance, afraid of disturbing them.
Gabriel held Teresa in the car until the class bell rang. Only then did he let her go, allowing her to head back to class while he stayed in the car to work.
However, when the bell for the second class rang, Gabriel waited for several minutes without seeing Teresa come down. Worried, he went upstairs to find her.
In the classroom upstairs, Teresa had just answered a few students' questions and was about to leave when a familiar figure suddenly appeared in front of her.
It was Unity.
"Teresa, your class was really good." Unity blocked Teresa's way, her face showing a humble and apologetic smile.
Teresa frowned slightly. "Do you need something?"
"Teresa," Unity looked at her, lowering herself to the most humble position, "Can we talk?"
Even Yvonne could be easily ruined by The Garcia family and The Bennett family, while Teresa seemed unscathed. What chance did Unity have against Teresa, let alone those powerful families?
"Sorry, I don't think we have anything to talk about," Teresa said, stepping past Unity to leave.
"Teresa," Unity quickly grabbed her. "I'm sorry. I was foolish before. I came to apologize."
"Who are you? Why are you bothering my teacher?" a student walking beside Teresa couldn't stand it anymore and questioned.
"It's okay, you guys go ahead. Don't be late for your next class," Teresa smiled at the students who wanted to protect her.
"Let go!" At that moment, the elevator dinged, the doors opened, and a deep, cold voice came through.
Everyone turned to look and saw Gabriel. The group of young students smiled and quickly dispersed to their next class.
"Gabriel," Unity called out.
"Unity, we're not that close," Gabriel warned coldly as he walked over, extending his long arm to pull Teresa into his embrace.
But in the next moment, he looked at Teresa with extreme gentleness, asking softly, "Are you okay?"
Teresa looked at him and shook her head. "I'm fine."
"Then let's go."
"Okay," Teresa nodded, letting Gabriel hold her as they walked towards the elevator.
"Teresa, I'm sincerely here to apologize. Considering we were classmates for four years and used to be so close, can't you forgive me just once?" Unity, looking at Gabriel, felt both fear and unwillingness. She mustered the courage to rush over and block their way.
"Step aside!" Gabriel's icy gaze cut through the air, his voice cold and commanding.
Unity met his indifferent eyes, feeling a chill run down her spine. She tried her best to stay calm and humble.
"Honey, it's fine." Teresa looked up at Gabriel, calling him "honey" with ease and affection. Then she turned to Unity, who was blocking their way, and said, "Unity, no need to apologize. This is the end. We're going our separate ways. My husband and I have commitments, so we're leaving."
With that, Teresa smiled faintly and looked up at Gabriel, who was holding her. Her eyes locked onto his deep, passionate gaze.
Gabriel was staring at her, his eyes filled with joy and sweetness, almost overflowing.
It was the first time Teresa had called him "honey" so naturally. How could Gabriel not be surprised?
"Sweetheart, let's go!" Teresa said with a smile, momentarily stunned by his gaze.
"Alright, let's go." Gabriel snapped out of it, instinctively kissing her forehead, then holding her as they walked past Unity towards the elevator.
Unity stood there, watching them walk past her so intimately, her face filled with displeasure, her hands trembling slightly with anger.
Unity never knew Teresa was so skillful, making Gabriel follow her every word like a little pet, always protecting her.
'Teresa, if you're determined to make an enemy of me, then I suppose I must accept my fate,' Unity smirked.
"What did you just call me?" Gabriel asked, lifting Teresa's chin with his long fingers once they were in the car, his dark eyes burning with intensity.
Teresa looked at him with clear eyes, her face full of innocent confusion, "Honey, is there a problem?"
Before she could finish her last word, Gabriel's head had already lowered, capturing her red lips with precision.
The kiss was domineering and lingering. In no time, Teresa was kissed into a daze, melting into his arms.
When her hand was held by his hot, large palm, she was startled and quickly pulled her hand away, retreating from his embrace. Her eyes glared at him. "Gabriel, don't go too far."
Gabriel looked at her, smiling helplessly and restrained. The next second, he reached out, grabbed her slender waist, and with a little force, pulled her over with a soft cry from Teresa.
"What are you doing?" Teresa scolded him, still shaken.
"Sweetheart, can you feel it?" Gabriel ignored her protests, his large hands gripping her waist, whispering hotly in her ear.
"Gabriel!" Teresa was mortified, burying her face in his neck, Her face, already flushed, deepened in color, a warning in her hushed voice. "If you keep this up, I'll get out right now."
Fortunately, the partition between the front and back of the car was up. Otherwise, if the bodyguards in the front knew what they were doing, she would be utterly embarrassed.
She was already struggling to cope.
Hearing her soft and sweet warning, only heaven knew how much Gabriel was suffering at that moment.
However, knowing Teresa hadn't fully recovered, he restrained himself.
So, helplessly, he could only hold her, pleading in a low, hoarse voice, "Sweetheart, don't move, just let me hold you."
"Gabriel!"
"If you move again, I might lose control."
Bastard!
Teresa had no choice but to stay obediently in his arms, letting him hold her tightly, not daring to move.
She didn't know how long it had been until her legs started to go numb. Gabriel finally calmed down, and she immediately flipped off him, sitting back in her seat, trying to sit as close to the car door as possible to distance herself from Gabriel.
Gabriel reached out to hold her hand, but Teresa quickly pulled away, her face stern. "Don't touch me again."
Gabriel chuckled. "Wanna come to Capital Construction with me?"
"Nope," Teresa shot back without hesitation.
"William's meeting me there to discuss something. After that, we can grab lunch. How about it?" Gabriel smiled, dangling the bait.
Teresa squinted at him, thinking it over. "Alright, but once we get to Capital Construction, no touching."
"Once we get there, William will probably be around. How could I touch you then?" Gabriel grinned, answering with a question.
"Fine, I'll go." Teresa nodded, then happily pulled out her phone to message Hayden on Facebook:[Hayden, are you busy? Wanna grab lunch together?]
She had promised to help set up Hayden and William, and she couldn't just say it and do nothing.
After sending the message, she thought for a moment and added another: [William and Gabriel will be there too.]
[Sure, send me the time and place!] Hayden replied almost instantly.
Teresa smiled, her fingers flying over the phone screen. [Not sure yet, I'll let you know once it's confirmed. Or if you're not busy, you can come to Capital Construction first. I'll be there in about half an hour.]
Just a few feet away, Gabriel watched her happily texting, curious, and couldn't help but lean over to see who she was chatting with.
"Gabriel!" Teresa was ready, quickly covering her phone to her chest when he leaned over, glaring at him. "You're the CEO of Nebula Consumer Products and a director at Capital Construction. Why are you always doing such lowly things like peeking?"
Gabriel laughed. "Alright, I won't look. But sweetheart, tell me, who are you chatting with?"
Teresa gave him a sidelong glance. "Dream on! What's it to you?"
Gabriel smiled at her, not bothering her anymore. He crossed his long legs and leaned back in his seat, pulling a document from the drawer in front and reading it seriously.
Seeing him behave, Teresa continued chatting with Hayden. After they finished, she thought of something and looked at the man beside her, who was seriously focused on his document. She bit her lip and asked, "Why didn't you marry Hayden back then?"
If Gabriel had married Hayden, there wouldn't have been anything between her and Gabriel, because Hayden's family wasn't like the fallen Lewis family. Gabriel couldn't just divorce them if he wanted to.
"Were you just chatting with Hayden?" Gabriel immediately looked up from his document, smiling as he asked.
Teresa didn't deny it. "Answer my question."
"Because I don't like her." Gabriel smiled, answering straightforwardly.
Teresa raised her eyebrows at him, not saying anything.
"Ever since we made love, I've only liked you." Seeing her silent, Gabriel added.
Gabriel was getting better at sweet-talking.
Squinting at him, Teresa thought for a moment and suddenly asked, "So, before making love to me, did you like someone else?"
Gabriel laughed, extremely pleased. "You're jealous."
"You're overthinking it. Go back to your document!" Teresa said, lowering her head to continue playing with her phone, unable to suppress the sweet smile on her face.
Gabriel looked at her, smiling, and continued to read his document seriously.
