Chapter 162
Truthfully, she had no idea why she was chasing after him, what she would say when she caught up or even if it would make a difference. Nevertheless, she was determined to confront him. How could he be with Michelle now? What was that all about?
Ahead, William didn't need to look back to know someone was following him. Yet, he seemed wholly unconcerned, walking straight into the men's restroom. There, he lit up a cigarette with a sharp flick of his lighter and started smoking fiercely.
Hayden, coming after him, hesitated at the restroom door. This was the men's room, after all, and it would surely be occupied by more than just William.
"Miss Bush, what are you doing here? This is the men's room," a man in his forties with thinning hair said as he stepped out and caught sight of her, his face a mask of surprise.
"Shelve it. I'm neither illiterate nor blind. Move it!" Hayden snapped, annoyance clear on her face as she pushed past the man and stormed into the restroom.
Inside, she immediately saw the man standing at the urinal, tall and statuesque, one elegant hand holding a cigarette, the other occupied. Of course, there wasn't just one man at the row of urinals but another as well.
William, his eyes slightly squinted, stared at the woman who barged in as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening, then casually returned to smoking.
The other man, catching sight of Hayden, went wide-eyed with shock. Once he composed himself, he quickly zipped up and pointed at Hayden, stammering, "Who are you? This is the men's restroom, don't you know?"
"Shut it! Get out, now," Hayden shot back with a commanding glare, her presence exuding authority.
"Crazy!" The man muttered under his breath, glaring at her, then left without bothering to wash his hands.
As soon as the door closed behind him, Hayden swiftly slammed the restroom door shut and secured the lock with a decisive click.
Yet, her actions seemed to leave William utterly unfazed. After relieving himself, he casually tossed the barely smoked cigarette into the urinal and flushed it away. He then zipped up and turned towards the sink.
"Why Michelle, William? Why her?" Before William could reach the sink, Hayden charged up to him, blocking his path, her eyes red with anger.
William simply smirked dismissively at Hayden's confrontation, "Hayden, do I need to report to you who I date?"
"You don't even like Michelle, do you?" Hayden challenged, staring at him defiantly.
"That’s none of your business, Hayden," Brushing off her comment, William attempted to step past her towards the sink.
"Then why did you sleep with me if you already have a girlfriend, William?" Hayden suddenly couldn't contain her anger and roared at him.
His heart skipped at her raw anger, his steps ceasing.
With a fierce twist of his eyebrows, William pulled Hayden toward him in the next instant. Before she could react, he pinned her against the wall, their bodies close, almost gritting his teeth as he said, "Hayden, would I have been with you if you hadn't thrown yourself at me?"
"You can't just walk away after what happened between us!" Tears welled up in Hayden's eyes as she shouted back at him, struggling so hard to hold them in despite the chill and pain radiating from her back pressed against the wall.
"Can’t I?" William scoffed, as if she had told the world's biggest joke, a cold smirk on his lips.
Yet, as he laughed, his eyes betrayed a hint of moisture. Once upon a time, he had devoted himself to being with her forever. Who was it that had rejected him so decisively and cruelly, refusing even to spare their child?
"Hayden, by your logic, there would be a long line of men who wouldn’t walk away; Why did you..." William began with intense sarcasm.
“Smack!”
Before he could finish his mocking statement, Hayden's hand flew up, delivering a sharp slap across his face. The sound echoed loudly in the restroom.
"William, for the whole time, I've only been with one man..." Her words cut off into a muffle as he silenced her protest.
Hayden's enraged cry had barely faded when William's head dipped down, fervently silencing her with a kiss that was as possessive as it was fierce, as if venting all his dominance.
Tears blurring her vision, Hayden gazed up at the magnified handsome face before her. As realization struck, her arms wrapped around his neck, responding with equal passion to his kiss.
"Knock, knock..." "William, are you in there?"
