Chapter 372

In those photos, she and Gabriel looked like a match made in heaven—handsome and beautiful. She could see the genuine happiness of a woman in love clearly etched on her face.

It was real, not a façade.

So, Gabriel was truly her husband and their marriage was the envy of all, filled with love and affection.

Lying in the hospital bed, with her hand warmly clasped in Gabriel's, Teresa drifted into sleep without realizing it.

Gabriel stayed by her side quietly, watching over her until her breathing was even and deep. When he was sure she was asleep, he slowly let go of her hand and stepped out with his phone to make a call.

"Gabriel," Liam's calm voice came through almost instantly.

"What exactly did you tell my sweetheart this morning?" Gabriel leaned against the railing in the hospital corridor, his voice playful.

"Which thing are you referring to?" Liam feigned ignorance.

Gabriel, in good spirits, chose not to bicker, chuckled softly, and gently prodded, "How our son came about and how I got Teresa to marry me."

"Teresa didn't ask you that herself?" Liam chuckled on the other end.

"If she had asked me, why would I be calling you?" Gabriel raised an eyebrow.

"Well, you just got back from overseas that night. We guys had too much to drink. Teresa had a bit much herself, walked into the wrong room, and, well, one thing led to another," Liam summarized succinctly.

—Drank too much.

Suddenly, Gabriel smirked again, "And what happened after?"

"After that, you were chasing Teresa behind my back. Don't you remember what you did, or have you got amnesia too?" Liam teased.

Before the amnesia, Teresa and Gabriel were inseparable like conjoined twins. Even with Teresa's memory gone and no recollection of Gabriel, nothing was going to change.

It was better to let go and support a close friend instead of causing more pain.

"What about Michael?" Gabriel asked cheerfully.

On the phone, Liam let out a low chuckle, "I told Teresa that she always knew the kid was yours. As for the rest, you can spin the tale yourself."
Gabriel's lips quirked up in a smile as he nodded, "Alright, thanks."

On the other end, Liam didn't say anything else and hung up the phone.

Leaning against the railing, Gabriel pocketed his phone and squinted with his deep, dark eyes, reflecting on everything that had happened yesterday.

Upon learning of Teresa's kidnapping, his every thought had been focused on rescuing her. After he had brought her back, seeing her tortured, state plunged him into a profound agony of guilt and self-reproach. All he wanted was to stay by Teresa's side, giving no thought to anything else.

Now, though the wounds were still fresh on Teresa's body, at least her spirit bore no scars, and she seemed just like before. Finally, Gabriel could breathe a sigh of relief.

Brian was dead, and all those involved in Teresa's kidnapping had been locked up. Madison, especially, had suffered immensely by his hand.

Now, he had to figure out who leaked the information about Teresa going to dinner at the Bennett Group's club with Diana.

Only he knew Teresa was going to the club with Diana for dinner. Although the rest of the Garcia family knew Teresa was going out with Diana, they didn't see the location.

Teresa had only told the driver about their destination—the Bennett Group's club—after getting into the car.

If he hadn't disclosed Teresa's whereabouts, and Teresa certainly hadn't, then who had?

"Luke," Gabriel's eyes suddenly darkened with a surge of anger.

"Gabriel." Luke quickly stepped forward two paces.

"Did the club's janitor make it clear when Brian contacted her?" Gabriel asked, his voice grave as he narrowed his eyes.

Luke, ever meticulous and professional, immediately responded, "Yes, it was at 5:20 pm yesterday. Brian kidnapped the janitor's son and then called her, using her son as leverage to coerce her into conspiring in the kidnapping of Unity."

"When did Unity leave the house yesterday?" Gabriel pressed, his dark gaze intense.

He remembered leaving the house himself at nearly six in the evening, and Teresa had gone after him.

This meant the news of Teresa's diner plans must have been leaked early that morning.

"Unity left around 6:30 pm yesterday, arriving at the club just after seven," Luke replied promptly, with precise timing.
Without a doubt, the news had been leaked early that morning.

Only Teresa and Diana knew they were planning to dine out at the club. Yesterday, Teresa mentioned to him that Diana had initiated the invitation, reaching out to her around ten in the morning.

This means that the information about Teresa agreeing to have dinner with Diana has been out there since then. After a moment's contemplation, Gabriel gave his orders, "Look into who Diana was in touch with yesterday, what she did, and everyone she came into contact with before 5:20 pm."

Luke, sharp and professional, immediately understood Gabriel's intent. He nodded, acknowledged with a "Yes, sir," and turned to get it done.

...

At the Evans Group office building.

Diana called Sophia but did not get an answer on her first attempt. After a little while, she tried again.

This time, Sophia picked up.

"Diana, what's up?" Sophia always spoke with a gentle warmth whenever she talked to Diana.

"Auntie, I can't reach Teresa. Is something wrong?" Diana asked directly.

"Yeah, Teresa was kidnapped last night. She's in the hospital now." Gabriel was with Teresa, and Sophia was on her way back to the Bennett family.

"What? Teresa was kidnapped?" Diana was shocked but quickly followed up with, "Auntie, which hospital is she in? I want to visit her."

"She's at First Hospital. But be warned, Teresa has selective amnesia and has forgotten everything from the past three and a half years," Sophia revealed without hesitation.

"Selective amnesia?!" Diana was even more astonished.

Three and a half years ago? Wasn't that when Teresa and Liam were at the height of their romance and before Gabriel came into the picture?

Could it be Liam...

"Yes, selective amnesia. She doesn't remember Michael or Gabriel," Sophia confirmed from the other end of the phone.

"Teresa must still remember me," Diana thought, a sudden urge to see Teresa's condition overwhelming her. "Auntie, I'm heading to First Hospital to see her now. You go ahead with what you're doing—I've got to go."
