Chapter 358 Unveiled Deception: The Revelation of Madison
The imposter Teresa looked at her pierced palm, blood oozing incessantly, her entire body shaking uncontrollably like a sieve.
"Who are you, and why impersonate Teresa?" Mason asked sternly as he watched the fake Teresa writhe on the floor, nearly fainting from pain. "If you don't talk, Gabriel won't hesitate to skin you alive and feed you to the dogs."
If she really did pass out, they wouldn't be able to get anything out of her.
Lying on the floor like a maggot, the fake Teresa trembled violently as she slowly lifted her head to meet Mason's imposing gaze. Overwhelmed by intense pain and the fear of death, she had lost the ability to think and answered instinctively, "I am... I'm Madison... I'm Madison..."
‘—Madison!’
The woman before them, altered to look exactly like Teresa, was actually Madison. Everyone was shocked at the sight of her, as Madison was supposed to be dead. The mystery of how she ended up surgically altered to resemble Teresa left everyone bewildered and unsettled. The woman before them, altered to look exactly like Teresa, was actually Madison.
Everyone was shocked at the sight of her.
Madison was supposed to be dead. How had she ended up surgically altered to look like Teresa?
"Who did this to you? Who made you undergo surgery to look like Teresa?" Raymond, frowning deeply, pressed for answers.
"It was... it was Yvonne... it was Yvonne..." Madison replied through violent shivers.
—Yvonne.
It all suddenly made sense. If Yvonne had faked Madison's death and hid her away, then had her surgically altered to appear as Teresa, everything could be explained.
But Yvonne was already locked up in jail, under constant watch, her freedom completely stripped away, living a fate worse than death; how could she possibly be behind today's events?
"Who kidnapped my sweetheart?" Gabriel pressed urgently.
"I don't know... I don't... don't know..." Madison's strength was fading rapidly from the immense pain and excessive blood loss. Her speech was becoming fragmented and weak.
"Will you talk or not?"
"Ah!"
Gabriel was desperate and terrified. He couldn't afford to waste a second, so without hesitation, the dagger in his hand stabbed into Madison's other palm.
Madison let out an agonizing scream, one that seemed to reach the heavens and shake the spirits, and with a feeble shake of her head, she whispered, "I... I really... don't... don't know..."
Before she could finish, her head dropped heavily to the floor, and she lost consciousness to the pain.
"Get some ice water," Gabriel commanded as he saw someone her pass out.
"No need!" Mason interjected immediately. "It seems she genuinely doesn't know. Let's have the warden ask Yvonne."
Mason's bodyguard, standing nearby, nodded and made a call to the prison holding Yvonne, only to receive shocking news: Yvonne had lost her mind.
"Lost her mind?!" Everyone was taken aback. Mason urgently asked, "When did this happen?"
"Just the day before yesterday," the bodyguard replied respectfully.
"Is she really insane or faking it?" Raymond pressed on.
"The prison had a specialist examine her. She's truly gone mad," the bodyguard responded promptly.
Hearing this, Gabriel's dark eyes sunk into an abyss of seriousness, and in the next second, he turned and swiftly walked out.
"Gabriel, where to?" Raymond called after him.
"The club where Teresa had dinner," Gabriel replied without looking back and was gone from the doorway in an instant.
"Get someone to stop the bleeding and bandage her up; we can't have her dying." Mason casually glanced at Madison on the floor, furrowed his brow, and gave the order before turning to Raymond. "Let's go. We need to head to the hospital to check on Michael."
Mason had already called on Black Triple Three to rally all the forces in River North and the surrounding cities. The Garcia family, with their several hundred bodyguards and William's people, were all in motion.
So, there was no point in haste; they had to wait for news.
"Yeah," Raymond replied gravely as he left with Mason.
...
In the club, the janitor involved in Teresa's kidnapping had already fled, taking advantage of the lack of surveillance footage due to a well-planned escape. However, with the Garcia family deploying such a powerful force, the notion of the janitor escaping capture seemed far-fetched. Consequently, when Gabriel rushed to the club with great speed, the janitor was apprehended just in time.In the club, the janitor involved in Teresa's kidnapping had long fled, helped by the lack of surveillance footage thanks to a well-planned escape.
But with the Garcia family mobilizing such a formidable force, the idea of a mere janitor evading capture was pure fantasy.
Therefore, when Gabriel sped to the club with lightning speed, the janitor was being dragged back just in time.
Confronted by Gabriel and William, backed by a looming crowd of bodyguards, the janitor's legs buckled, and he fell to his knees, quickly spilling everything.
"Who was behind all this?" Gabriel demanded after knocking the janitor to the ground with a kick.
"I don't know," the janitor stuttered, shaking uncontrollably, not daring to withhold a single detail. "It was always over the phone... I've never seen the person."
"Gabriel got word from Black Triad about Unity. They said she was taken to an abandoned building on the outskirts, but no sign of her there," Luke burst in, urgency in his voice, as he quickly briefed Gabriel and then continued, "According to Black Triad, the kidnapper was a man, around six feet tall, with a beard, sharp eyes, a high nose bridge, and a small, faint scar at the corner of his left eye. Sounded like he could be from the neighboring city of N."
Gabriel listened, his brow furrowed as he searched his memory for the target.
‘Brian.’
In a flash, Gabriel had the answer and commanded with a deep tone, "Tell the Black Triad to use all their resources to find Brian."
Family Bezos was from the neighboring N City, and though Brian hadn't sported a beard before, the physical description from Black Triad's informant matched him closely.
What sealed the deal was the scar at the corner of Brian's left eye—a souvenir from an encounter years back where Gabriel had been forced to get tough.
"Brian, is it the one who..."
"Yes! It's him!" Gabriel interrupted William without waiting for him to finish. Gabriel then immediately instructed William to check all surveillance around the deserted building for any suspicious individuals.
"Where are you heading?" Right after giving orders, Gabriel made a move to leave but was quickly stopped by William's inquiry.
"I can't just wait here—I'm heading to the abandoned building on the outskirts." With fiery determination in his eyes, Gabriel left with long, swift strides.
Without hesitation, William followed suit.
...
In the hospital, the doctor had finished examining the unconscious young man they called Croissant, confirming that he had just overdosed on a sedative and was otherwise unharmed.
Hearing the doctor's report, Katherine's pounding heart finally settled, and both Mason and Raymond breathed a sigh of relief.
With Croissant out of danger, Mason immediately inquired about Teresa, and his security guard rapidly updated them.
"Brian? How could it be Brian?" Katherine was shocked.
Mason glanced at Katherine and sighed deeply. "Brian seems to have a death wish. To get back at Gabriel and Teresa, he's even teamed up with Yvonne! It just goes to show that being too kind can bite you back."
OriginallyInitially, Gabriel was determined to put Brian behind bars for life to prevent further harm to Teresa.
Yet, Katherine and the Bezos family pleaded for mercy. They swore up and down that Brian would not hurt the Garcias again, promising to keep a tight leash on him. Reluctantly, Gabriel gave him a pass.
What a mistake it turned out to be. Now, without a doubt, Mason could imagine the horrors Teresa might be enduring at Brian's hands.
Katherine, listening to Mason's words and looking into his eyes, was riddled with remorse and regret.
"Call Gabriel," Mason instructed his butler in an even tone.
"Yes, sir," the butler replied, promptly pulling out his cell phone to make the call to Gabriel...
