Chapter 462 William and Hayden (63)

After getting out of bed, William went to the walk-in closet to pick out some clothes. He couldn't resist chuckling when he saw the assortment of new garments that had appeared.

"You bought me so much; it's going to take a long time to wear all of these," he said while turning to look at the woman on the bed with a smile.

"Then wear them for a lifetime." Hayden's eyes met his with sincerity and deep affection.
"William, for this lifetime, everything you wear from head to toe, inside and out, I've got it covered."

Looking at her, William lifted the corners of his lips in a dashingly handsome smile and nodded firmly, "Alright."

...

The following morning, William had classes, but Hayden was off school and went to work at Global Trust Bank.

As William was about to enter the classroom, his phone buzzed twice in his pocket.

Taking out his phone, he checked the message, and a deep smile quickly spread across his face, carrying infinite happiness and joy.

He just knew that Hayden was a woman worth devoting everything to, even his entire life. She would never betray him.

Jasper walked up from behind him, noticing him standing there with a goofy smile on his face.

Yes, goofy indeed. Even if the term "goofy smile" hardly seemed to fit William, he was genuinely smiling in a silly way at that moment.

"What's so funny? You look so happy?" Jasper approached and clapped William on the shoulder, his expression cheerful.

Although William had kicked him the previous night, and his chest still ached slightly, wasn't it his fault?

After that kick, William hadn't held it against him; they hadn't even stopped being friends.

Jasper thought that William must believe he hadn't slept with Hayden, which is why their friendship hadn't ended.

Had he actually slept with Hayden, he would have lost his dear friend William forever.

William smiled and gave Jasper a brief sidelong glance before handing his phone over.

Jasper took a look...

"The hair isn't Hayden's?!" As soon as he saw the DNA test results that popped up on the screen, Jasper's face twisted with a complex expression, unsure whether to feel relieved or concerned. "Damn! Who's trying to frame me with Hayden, and if it wasn't her, then who did I sleep with?"

With someone tampering with the security footage, he was now clueless about whether any other woman might have entered his apartment after his birthday party ended.
"Could Michelle be behind this? It's not hard to figure out, but to find out who you slept with," William said, his lips curling into a sly smile as he looked at Jasper, "I have an idea."

"Spit it out!" Jasper urged, growing impatient.

"You sneak and get some of Michelle's hair. Then we can run another DNA test; maybe there will be a result." With those words, William snatched his phone back from Jasper's hand and headed for the classroom.

Frowning in thought, Jasper watched him momentarily before quickly striding to catch up.

Once her leg healed, Michelle secured an internship at a Fortune 500 company. Although her first choice had been to intern at Global Trust Bank, she couldn't find any notable positions there, so she had to look for opportunities elsewhere.

Not long after starting at the company, she sat down at her desk and noticed a new message on her phone. Recognizing the sender, she quickly unlocked and opened the message.

[Michelle, I overheard William and Jasper talking about how you framed Hayden with Jasper. William also mentioned taking your hair for a DNA test.]

—Hair.
—DNA test.

Suddenly, Michelle's brain seemed to explode. She realized the gravity of her oversight. How could she have forgotten to remove her hair from the bed and replace it with Hayden's?

Damn, it!
It was a terrible mistake!
William must have taken the hair from the bed and compared it with Hayden's, concluding that the woman Jasper slept with wasn't Hayden at all.

Michelle scolded herself for her carelessness. Now what?

If Jasper obtained a sample of her hair and compared it to what was left on the bed for another DNA test, everything would really be over. She might even have to leave Southern and be unable to finish her education.

No! She couldn't leave, and she couldn't let William and Jasper discover the truth. Absolutely not.

Forcing herself to calm down, Michelle considered all the possible outcomes and planned her countermeasures.

The thought of leaving behind strands of her hair in the dorm sent her into a panic. Without hesitation, she made up an excuse to take leave and dashed back to her room at breakneck speed.

Upon returning to the dorm, luck was on her side – her new roommate was not in, and the door to her room was left ajar.

The thought that William and Jasper might have taken hair from her bed for DNA testing spurred her into action. She carefully removed every strand of her hair from her bed, then quietly entered her roommate's room and found two hairs that matched her own in color and length. She planted them on her bed with stealth.

Feeling satisfied that there would be no issues, Michelle returned to her Internship.

On the other side of town, after class, Jasper attempted to call Michelle to invite her out for lunch, hoping to pluck a hair from her for testing during the meal.

Michelle, however, came up with an excuse to decline.

Rebuffed, Jasper, recalling that William had taken hair from his bed, figured he could very well do the same at Michelle's dorm.

Hurrying to Michelle's dorm, he found her absent but ran into her new roommate. Aware of Michelle and Jasper's close relationship, the roommate let him in without any suspicion.

Once in Michelle's room, he scoured the area around the headboard and under the pillow, finding two strands of hair, which he took along with the ones from his bed for testing.

If the hair matches, there would be no doubt that the person from that night was Michelle—it would be unequivocal. If they didn't match, the mystery would only deepen.
