Chapter 556 William and Hayden

"You ruffian, today I will..."
"Peter." Just as Peter rolled up his sleeves, about to lay hands on the security guard, a senior female manager from the HR department rushed over and stood in front of him. Her face beamed with a smile as she said, "Peter, don't be angry. Let's talk things out civilly."

"Talk things out civilly?" Peter glared furiously at the audacious HR manager who had barred his way. "It's because of the evidence provided by the likes of you that led William to dismiss me. Today, I will end you."

With those words, Peter lunged forward, grabbing the HR manager by the neck. Before anyone could react, he pulled her back a couple of steps, and then, to everyone's shock, produced a glistening dagger, pressing it against the manager's neck.

"Ah!" The HR manager was forced back two steps, her terrified scream piercing the air.

Several security guards sensed the danger and swiftly moved closer.

"Don't come any closer. If you do, I'll stab her." Peter threatened, pressing the dagger firmly against the female manager's neck, a thin line of blood appearing on her pale skin.

"Don't come near, all of you stay back." Trembling with fear, the manager waved her hands and shouted at the guards.

Several guards glanced at each other, unsure of how to proceed.

Michelle, witnessing the scene from a distance, furrowed her brows slightly. She walked over briskly and addressed Peter, who held the knife, in a respectful tone, "Peter, hello. Do you wish to see William? I believe I can assist you with that."

"Where did you come from?" Peter glared at Michelle, his teeth clenched.

Michelle elegantly smiled, "Peter, I consider myself a friend of William. How about you release this lady first? We can all call William together. You could schedule a meeting with him to discuss matters."

"Discuss matters?" Peter sneered, filled with intense anger. "What is there to discuss? I've been working faithfully under the Bennett family's wing since the beginning with Patrick. For all these years, I have toiled diligently. Yet, William casually fired me, offering no compensation, and now he wants to sue me, throw me in jail. I've come here today to confront him."

"Peter, perhaps William is being influenced by someone else? We could summon the chairman and clarify the situation together." Michelle continued to soothe him with a smile, observing his reactions.

"What else do we have to discuss? What I need now is compensation. I've dedicated over 20 years to the Bennett Group. One million dollars in compensation, not a penny less." Peter continued his rage-filled outburst.

"One million dollars." At that moment, a deep, resonant, and velvety voice echoed from the direction of the main entrance. Everyone turned to see William striding in.

As they watched the tall, handsome figure of William approaching, not only the female staff of the Bennett Group, but even Michelle's own heart couldn't help but quicken.

"Mr. Bennett." The employees of the Bennett Group greeted him respectfully as they watched him.

Without any diversion, William's profound gaze briefly flickered to Peter. He approached with long strides, offering a faint smile. "Peter, do you find one million dollars insufficient?"

Looking at William, Peter suddenly felt a twinge of fear. More than fear, he felt a profound sense of guilt.

Instinctively, he backed away two steps while tightening his grip on the female manager's neck, attempting to compose himself with a menacing expression. He continued to shout, "William, will you give me one million dollars or not? If you refuse, I'll kill her, then I'll kill you."

"Wil...William, save me." The scared manager pleaded to William for help.

"Peter, consider your actions carefully. Once you take a life, you'll end up in prison. But if you let go of this lady, we can still negotiate." Michelle, who had been focused on William, snapped back into the situation, attempting to soothe Peter once more.

Initially taking the initiative to calm Peter, Michelle's intention was to draw William's attention.

Unexpectedly, William didn't spare her a glance. Looking directly at Peter, he gave a slight smile and nodded, "If you're willing to kill me over one million dollars, then of course, I will comply and compensate you accordingly."
